As rightly quoted and cited in the Book of Genesis Chapter 24 Moses reveals that Abraham entrusted his loyal servant (Eliezer "... a man of Damascus," this "Eliezer" is not to be confused with the younger of Moses's two sons, also named "Eliezer"). Rebekah and her brother Laban (the "Aramaean" or Syrian were the son and daughter of Bethuel, the children of Nahor one of Abraham's brothers, and city of Nahor named after Abraham's brother, or the former's grandfather with the same name "Nahor"). "Haran," the third brother of Abraham was also a city of northern Mesopotamia along with the city of "Nahor" near what is today, the Syrian-Turkish border. Haran, Abraham's brother died in the city of his birth namely Ur of the Chaldeans in what is today the Tigris -Euphrates Valley of southeastern Iraq. Haran died before his family emigrated to the land of Canaan, that today, comprises the State of Israel and Lebanon. Ancient Canaan contained the kingdoms of Philistia and Phoenicia with the latter's principal cities of Tyre and Sidon (the latter named after Canaan's firstborn listed son) in Genesis Chapter 10. The Canaanites were a Hamitic people (named after Noah's youngest son "Ham"). Abraham's family were a Semitic people named after Noah's son "Shem." Partial Bible quotation above was from Genesis Chapter 15: Verse 2 NWT (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures).

I should mention below that Abraham entrusted Eliezer his servant to seek a wife for his son Isaac from his kin (Semitic) family in Mesopotamia, not in the land of Canaan where he was residing as an alien resident.
