  • Lebanon has endured constant attacks and pressure from Israel, America and their allies for decades, sometimes in the form of direct military confrontation and more recently through a hybrid war involving sanctions, propaganda, violent provocations, social media, western NGOs and embassies -- all to weaken Hezbollah.
To discuss all of this Rania Khalek is joined by researcher and journalist Julia Kassem, who has a masters degree from the American University of Beirut and is a contributor to the Al Akhbar, a widely circulated Lebanese leftist newspaper.

At Breakthrough News we believe in the power of independent media. Five mega-corporations dominate the media landscape - controlling 90% of what we read, watch and listen to. They control the news cycle, to which social media and even most “alternative” media is forced to respond. We are breaking through that cycle.
We tell the untold stories of resistance from poor and working-class communities - because out of these stories we will construct a different narrative of the world, as it is and in real time.
People’s movements in every corner of the globe are changing history and shifting consciousness. But these movements barely receive any coverage from the corporate media. They need visibility. They need amplification. They need a media arm to break through.

I heard that the Israelis lost 137 tanks in Lebanon in 2006 and that Hezbollah used a new style of warfare that was designed to nullify an enemy's artillery superiority and their close air support.

    • @shukeelc5177

They lost a quarter of their tanks that were sent in. Hezbollah invited them into a narrow valley, the Zionists obliged and the massacre of tanks began. Israelis recorded interviews on Zionist TV channels. They said they realised they were all going to die when there tanks would be taken out by Hezbollah fighters suddenly popping up in front of them with anti tank weapons and then suddenly disappearing. The Zionist terrorists said it was like fighting an army of ghosts who could appear at will, take their heavy armour out and disappear. They were literally in tears giving these testimonies not knowing if they'd be allowed out alive

Yes the US and some European countries view hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
Russia, Switzerland, India , China and many more countries don't view hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
You could argue that most of humanity doesn't view hezbollah as terrorists.

For instance, it is important to remember the two main line of thoughts at the outset of the 1978 revolution, one of them very socialistic (whose leader was assassianted by the MLK if I remember correctly). I know Morteza Mohit does talk about the economics of Iran thoug he also tend to be too idealistic and forgoes some historical facts.

Good job. Hizbullah's power, operations and management, and mission statements are affecting Lebanon's sovereignty and should move its headquarters to somewhere else. Officially, it is not a licensed Lebanese entity. One of its main missions is to liberate Palestine, which has been the mission of almost every Arab country for over 70 years. The only achievement was the creation of refugee camps to host and accommodate Palestinian refugees. During Lebanon's civil war in the 70's, Syria and Lebanon launched a war against the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, killing many, and not liberating any. Since that civil war, Lebanese started migrating. Basically, the mission to liberate Palestine has been a failure. Hizbullah, knowing all the side effects, still wants to liberate Palestine, using Lebanon as headquarters. Hizbullah may have helped around 1.5M Syrian refugees find accommodations in Lebanon, because it is a strong ally with Syria, the country these refugees are from. Bravo!
During Trump's presidency, a few Arabic countries made peace with Israel, and I truly hope that many more will join. The US and/or the Arab countries, can manage and solve the issues in Lebanon, and bring peace and prosperity back to the Beautiful Lebanon. However, Hizbullah's presence in Lebanon is a deterrent.

But if there was no resistance, Palestinians would be worse----
      no occupied territories, just all
      Israeli regular empire---all full of
      Israeli far rightists--- 100%.All
Palestinians would be massacred or in exile diaspora.

As an Israeli, I'm Wishing for the conflict to end and make peace between Lebanon 🇱🇧 and Israel 🇮🇱.
The politicians don't represent most Israelis(most of us just want to live in peace).
I think a lot of what's discussed here in this interview was one-sided and I encourage people to here to have a civil conversation with an Israeli,
I think some would be surprised that we all are not that different with our goals.

We, the Christians of Lebanon, want to make peace with Israel 🇱🇧 🇮🇱. Hope it happens very soon. This interview as well as this channel is all BS and full of lies and mental illness.

@@Amaking10000 Nope. We're staying in Lebanon forever. We are the indigenous people here while others came with the barbaric Islamic invasion from the desert and DNA and historical analysis have proved it. How is your comment even related or relevant loool you seriously have poor cognitive skills.

If Hezbollah isn't irans proxy, he should give his weapons to the lebanese army.
    One thing to note.
Hezbollah used their weapons to to silence lebanese people many times.
So stop making him seem like such a great movement
