Explain the self identification message again? I recorded one, but when I called and entered my lastname, I heard my voicemail greeting, not the self id message.
Hello, The self identification prompt is required to enable the Call by Name feature on an extension. However, if there is only one match for the surname entered it will NOT play the self identification prompt, and just forward the call. The self identification prompt is played back to the caller when there is more than one match for a surname. Let's take the following extension users for example. Allan Smith George Rogers Two totally unique names, but both addressable from the Call by name menu by pressing 764 The PBX will now need to know which of the 2 people you wish to speak to. So you will hear the following: "To connect to "George Rogers" (basically his self identification prompt will be played back to the caller) press 0. To speak to "Allan Smith", press 1" So depending on who you wish to speak to, the call will be forwarded to the relevant extension.
