Amazing advice, especially the smile while running and enjoying the views, I noticed when relaxed rather than stressed on the run I get better results and feel better overall, it's a huge difference 👌
Thanks for this Claire! I'm planning to do an Ultra in October (53k) and your advice is really helpful. I've done a few trail half marathons recently and fancy a bigger challenge before i turn 50 next year! Keep up the great work with your channel
This was great! I'm hoping some of your lady followers can help me out... I just ran a relatively easy 50k, and discovered serious issues with my gear... chafing etc. I'm treating myself to a whole new outfit for my upcoming, EXTREMELY difficult mountain 50k, where chafing could contribute to a DNF... it's barely 6 weeks away, so I don't have time to research, buy, and test different options. I need a bra, underwear, shirt and shorts that ladies have tested in marathons/ultras and had zero issues with. Hopefully it'll narrow my search and I can use your reviews to decide! (Also, you don't have the referenced links in the video. 😉 )
Hey K, sorry it only lets you do 5 links so sorry the ones at the end are unreffed! It doesn't really work like that sorry, what chafes one person will not chafe another so it's vital to test all your kit prior to doing a long run. Defo use some body glide if that is not possible. But to make sure there is no chafing you need to test it all on your long runs :)
@@wildgingerruns I know, that's why I was hoping for a concensus... if multiple ladies said X was their favorite bra, that gives me a better chance of finding a solid option quickly. I don't have time (or money) to buy and test multiple options before the race. I've only got 5 long runs left, and my long runs are NOT 33 miles long. 😆 That's what happened with my regular gear... it performed flawlessly in training, but failed at the jump to race distance. I didn't bother to apply my lube because it felt fine until the last 6 or so miles, then it was too late. Now I know to pre lube.
Can I finish a 30k without a proper training? Signed up for one next month but i havent been training. I do intervals and sweet spot of cycling though 8-12hrs a week. I used to run before but not amazing
@@wildgingerruns I think I'd be gutted to find there was more than a mile to go after 30 of them. I train in miles but record the distance in km. Because I can!

I would not be buying or wearing untested gear. Just add plenty of body glide to your kit?

Probably if you're fit from other sports yes, but training properly is the best way to reduce injury risk and recover quicker
Does walking long distance counts like training? Or a trail marathon?
Yes it defo does!
50km > 31 miles!
close enough!

There’s nothing healthy about chicken or mercury laden fish . Besides do the animals have a say in this?
Thanks for your comment! Veganism is 100% the way forward, Claire
