Hi , i am torn betweeen the mixpre 6ii and the zoom F6. How big of a learning curve with the zoom f6. There seems to be so many settings. I just record SFX for my stock site with a TAscam X8. I want to start recording 360 sound so I need one of these F6 or the Mixpre6ii. I want the one that is easy to get going with????

Heya! Personally I found the Zoom f6 a great little recorder with not much of a learning curve. Because of its UI there will be a bit more menu diving than the tascam x8 but you’ll get used to it. I’ve not used the mixpre 6ii myself but I’ve heard it’s also brilliant. The main factor would be budget for me. Hope this reply helps!

    What's your sample rate? 48 or 96

Hi Petru, I always record in 96 for field recordings or sound effects. Sometimes at 192 if I am planning on pitching down a lot in post
