21:31 is such a good scene, it shows you character by action Aang uses his abilities to avoid the problem Azula adapts quickly and dodges the problem and Zuko just runs head first and dies
This episode was the start of Katara and Toph's dynamic that would define their friendship, being continually told and developed until Season 3's The Runaway. I love how this pairing makes so much sense because Katara's caring and motherly personality that binds the group together reminds Toph so much of home, which is part of the reason they clashed so often. It also added to the initial fued that their circumstance and Toph's refusal to join the chore were adding to Katara's easily tested temper, which I think the latter should have been more open about since Toph was just newly added, but in her case, Toph herself should have been more understanding of the dynamic of the whole group. Yet again, without this start, Toph wouldn't be able to open herself up, and Katara wouldn't have relaxed from her duties to have some fun. Funnily, she was more open to recklessness and joy back in Season 1, but it was clear that the increasing stake at hand and Aang being in more danger as they travelled more were beginning to change her. On the other hand, this episode also gave us some of Katara's iconic lines lol
15:30 This is actually a very cool detail, Katara and Sokka didn't even notice that Appa had hit a few trees on liftoff and so they have no idea how they were found but Azula found out just by being in the area and looking around
Yea would've been nice if they fleshed her out more and showed more of why she became the way she did, clearly there's enough in the series to infer that her relationship with her father molded her to become the person she became and her mother had a far lesser effect on her as she was more focused on Zuko, but it would've nice to see that more directly.
12:22 I think that if we saw Toph not be actively helping the group and no one question it, we would all be annoyed at her for not putting herself forward, the situation got worse only when Toph and Katara were in overexhausted states of anger and panic, the best situation would be that Azula wouldn't even be chasing them in the first place but that's the entire point of the episode, how fast a team can crumble when disagreements, anger, panic, and no sleep are introduced
I always hate how Katara gets the bulk of the blame, especially in this episode. I agree she handled it poorly but that doesn’t make her points invalid
Looking at it now, I understand Katara's frustrations. There's no doubt she could have handled it better but as someone who also leads group works, I would want everyone that is in the same group as me to naturally be as cooperative. A lot of y'all who hate her without recognizing Toph's faults are bums just like Toph who probably made someone like Katara frustrated as well.
3:29 This time a double complaint for Roshi, 1. What is Aang supposed to say after making a mistake that causes Sokka to be injured? "I'll give you anything you want"? These are a group of friends traveling together out of necessity to save the world, to expect more than just "sorry", from a simply made mistake is a bit much, no? 2. Just because Toph makes her tent out of rocks and can do so at anytime she wants doesn't mean she doesn't need fresh air, not that she can see it but she does need it to keep living
@@gratuity7592 Yeah, those are what these are, simple little complaints that don't really matter Not trying to draw attention to you or making it seem like you upset me but you really could've ignored this, thanks for the comment though!

12:18 I hope Roshi hates his friends for every mistake they've ever done while in either a state of panic or delirious due to being exhausted because at least he'd be consistent and wouldn't contradict his opinion that Aang, while tired and angry, chose to argue with Toph instead of sitting back and... having her and Katara fight?

Aang uses his abilities to avoid the problem
Azula adapts quickly and dodges the problem
and Zuko just runs head first and dies
23:20 Sokka throwing the boomerang at Azula will always make me crack up 😂
2:11 Imagine having cat hair in your face, eyes, mouth, etc, everyone in that situation would be reacting exactly how Katara is
Correct
12:04 She just bended the earth, we literally see the dust cloud made by her moving Sokka
For me, this was one of the greatest episodes in the series. Loved seeing their connections and fighting styles come together

My favorite episode with my 3 favorite characters; Ty Lee, Iroh and Toph 🙂
Good taste my friend.

I like her, but they rarely show her sympathetic side. They showed her as a kid and she was still cruel to Zuko
Probably the war crimes 😂
18:58 That is actually very interesting and a good thing to point out, once again, these are the type of reactions I want
Little did Azula know, that first waterbending move made by Katara wouldn't be the last splash of water she'd face.
PEAKest ep so far❤
