I have a Disco 2 and the lack of a transmission dipstick always bothered me so I plan on retrofitting a D1 transmission sump & dipstick next time I do a transmission service.
Td5! Now you're talking Mike, I'm a self appointed pro on the fuel system on these (only because I've fully replaced my entire system) and I would absolutely love to see you rebuild a td5
The transmission fluid should be red, and yes engine running or it pours fluid out lots of fluid. If the leak is strictly at the lower end, the rear seal or main crucifix seals are the usual culprits, mine was the main. Also, check the PCV breather in right side valve cover they pack up solid and you get over-pressure leaks. And I know I am likely telling you stuff you know, but maybe it help.
Did you ever find the source of the leak? I am about to throw some dye in my engine and do the same. Hoping my leak is something simple as it seems to mostly come from around the sump seal.
Looks like an 04 Giverney Green. 04 had no engine oil cooler. Mine leaked at the 4 corners where intake gasket and heads meet. I went back to the tin intake gasket 3.9 and s not the black coated one and tightened the intake bolts good and tight.
lol , i have the same UV dye & the same problem .. i got a couple of 5 & 10 mm syringes with a plastic nozzle about 1 inch long .. now even i struggle to spill or cover my hands with the dye
Unfortunately counseled behind the bell housing is a cam shaft seal and crank seal and other plugs......4.6 worst engine ever.......ask me how I know......and a blown head gasket will dump oil.......
That is stretch my 4.6 is at 280000 and runs beautifully, needs a bit of work now and again but at 19 years that is no surprise. And oil leaks happen, poor seals , poorly installed seals or age - although with a top-hatted engine I would not expect that age is an issue
Ohhhh the suspense ..... Having to wait all weekend .... I'm sure Sherlock Mike will find the leak😀🇻🇨
Ah - but maybe I can find the leak - but who will fix it?
@@BritannicaRestorations Jim will fix it.....
I'll get me coat🤐

On a separate not Mike.
I had a go with the traditional razor that you and your friend made a video about.
Really good, I am converted.
Great!
I’m like an impetuous child waiting for the UV light!
You will see the light my child!.....

What's going on? Saw your video with a puma 110 and now a Disco 2? Have I fallen asleep for 10 years? 😂
As Prince said - sign O' the times...
Not ex Charles...
I bet you were very excited about working on that TD5 that was supposed to come in at half past nine.
Not really - it was quite good though - transfer case and CV was all I found

Nope - never found what was reported

Excellent for hand to gland combat in the dark...
Debra been doing nixers again 😁 or you've had the ear's lowered 🤗👍🇮🇪
Do you know, I never get a discount even though I have less to cut...
Thought you did the dye after the haircut but no
