    Thank you very much. I grew up in Morgan in and travelled the line to Adelaide as a child .Remember clearly the last train in 69.They tried to get a section of line left to Mount Mary as a tourist attraction but the government would not agree . Sad, so much history lost .

      You're very welcome. I didn't know that about the Mount Mary section - this is why I make these videos! I always learn more from my audience than I suspect they do from me.

    The road from Morgan to Burra is interesting, was a gravel road and was made into a single sealed road, apparently this road is part of the shortest route from Victoria to Pt Augusta (and Perth or Alice). The sealed road via Eudunda was not the direct route. I understand that the RACV had something to do with convincing the SA govt to spring for sealing the road and it was publicized in Melbourne papers at the time.
    I don’t know if the Vic govt had done some sort of deal or arrangement. Off topic I know, I discovered this when examining Mid-North railways such as Spaulding and Robertstown.
    At Robertstown I saw an immaculate FJ Holden ute which was driven by this really old guy and carried rolls of barbed wire and farm stuff. I wondered if he was the original owner.

      Morgan to Burra is an interesting road. A taste of the outback not far from Adelaide.

    I was on the last steam train to Morgan as a young boy. It was hauled by 526 Duchess Of Gloucester.

    Excellent presentation Michael. I live in south aus and had not really seen all of this, especially with the drone shots. Really well done with professional editing. I hope someone has more historical footage that they might share with you to enhance it even more. Well done bravo..

      Thank you Polly 321. You are absolutely right about the historic footage. I'd love to fade in and out of scenes with trains on the tracks. I have been reaching out for that historic footage, but no luck yet.

    Wait is that the Roseworthy to Peterborough line inside the Morgan line what?

    • @Outdoorstype
      @Outdoorstype  Год назад

      The Morgan Line (the first line in the area I think - then known as Gawler to Morgan line) branches from the the northern lines at Roseworthy.

    Didn't this line go through Eudunda?
    I believe it went through Hamley Bridge & Stockport?
    I knew the guy who owned Stockport railway station c 2000, his name was Ken Symonds.

    • @Outdoorstype
      @Outdoorstype  2 года назад +1

      Yep, this is that line. Those stations are certainly beautiful old buildings.

      @@Outdoorstype SA authorities and MPs don't think so.
      They love ripping rail lines up.
      I think truck companies must be paying them to do it.

      The Morgan line went through Eudunda. The line to Burra went through Hamley Bridge and Stockport.

      @@garynewton1263 I just realised... oops. The Hamley Bridge and Stockport stations are on the Peterborough line. Not the Morgan line. You'd think I'd remember - I made both the videos lol.

      @@Outdoorstype oh so you wouldn't have gone through Gawler to get to Morgan.
      So did it branch off upnear Crystal Brook or somewhere else?
