Finally someone spilled truth about luxury bags.
@@misstube agreed nothing wrong with owing luxury items. Also one doesn't need to burn holes in their pocket trying to afford one if they can't. You can get good quality bags from budding to medium priced brands too. I just liked the fact that she agrees that she was a luxury bag video creator at a time and how times have changed and her thought process has changed. Will she buy it in future, her choice. But did she speak truth about quality degradation, yes.
@@misstube Shea didn't say she's over it, SHE EVEN SAID SHE STILL LOVES A GOOD DESIGNER BAG!!! Just that she wanted to make people aware that not all expensive designer bags are perfect. Some have stupid flaws like bad/not so smooth zippers! you can love something abs still recognize its cons, that doesn't mean you can never buy it again or you have to get rid of it. She's just making people aware of the little imperfections of designer bags that can be annoying and even shocking for new buyers. Shea advised people to practice carrying the bag in the store before buying it to make sure it's comfortable. It was an advice not a bashing of designer bags!
I don't have a designer bag, never even seen one in real life. But I always thought because they cost a lot, they are perfect. Imagine if i were to buy in the future (when i become rich rich lol) without being aware of such flaws. I would be so disappointed and feel like i have wasted my money. But with that information, I would be aware of what to expect and no disappointments
I've never seen the fuzzy Burkinstocks before, but they're probably only good for around the house. They look like slippers
Exactly! Let's not forget that Birkenstocks are made in Germany where people wear indoor slippers (aka Hausshuhe) at home. And, in wintertime, their slippers are usually lined with shearling.
I love Addidas, New Balance, Nikes etc. I’ve bought them cheap at Marshall’s and they last for years. I’d rather not pay $80 for sneakers.
I buy my Pumas from TJ Maxx and Marshalls and they have been great! 29.99!😅
She wasn't talking about buying name brands for less, she talking about buying cheap knock off made to look like brand name tennis shoes.
My Marshall's doesn't have many sneakers for women.
I was just going to say that! I dont buy Amazon stuff any more because I need to see and try on in person before buying. I love the shopping experience.
I think the shrug sweaters are an extension of the ballet core aesthetic. Ballerinas have worn them in the dance studio forever. (Just like the leg warmers)
That awesome sense
I agree. I dance and have a few shrugs that I would only wear at the studio
Being a dancer, I love these and can confirm that this is the reason for the shrug. It shouldn’t cost as much as it does but I can say these are nice for dance.
I love shrugs. I have several from the late 90’s. I was a buyer so they were popular. I just wear them in the house sometimes.
I just finished crocheting my first one. It's so cute and I love it. 🥰
Haha! The bad fitting basic t-shirt you showed is my favorite t-shirt. I own it in a few colors. The tight basic shirts you show make some of us look like a lumpy sausage pushed into casing. Sometimes you need camouflage in the form of more loose clothing. And layering only works 2 weeks a year in AZ😊
I agree. I live for boxy, unstructured, long- and short-sleeve T-shirts. Not everything needs to fit like a glove, regardless of one's shape/physique.
That is spot on. Not everyone likes wearing skin tight clothing
I love my loose fitting t-shirts they get worn way more often than the tight fitting ones. 😂
When you're very petite like me, 5 ft 1 in and weigh 115 but have a 32 G chest you don't want to wear a tight fitting t-shirt!!
Yes, I have that first white v neck she showed. It's comfortable and if you don't buy it super oversized, it looks nice as a half tuck effortless look.
My husband calls the sweater shrug with bra look "The boob window" 😂
Hahaha that is SO funny!!!! I think I'll go with that too!
Good one! 😂
😆
He’s right. That’s exactly what it is. 😁😁😁
I never dry clean clothes…they go in the wash on delicate cycle or I hand wash…clothes always come out fine.
I use the dry clean sheets that do in the dryer 😊
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
@@michellem2621 Same Or I handwash them. Never had a problem.
I worked at a dry cleaners years ago all through college and you would be shocked how many things we actually hand washed or washed in the jumbo washing machine. A lot of stuff brought in was not only delicate but also do not dry clean on the labels and people didn’t pay attention.
I disagree about the sneakers. I have very expensive sneakers & I have inexpensive ones from Wal-Mart & Old Navy, the cheaper ones are more comfortable!
I only disagree on the sneakers because sometimes you find cheapies at Sam's or Costco that are name brands, like the Reebok walking shoes or Adidas superstars that I've had for years now 😯🤐
I think she meant cheapies that aren't name brand, but made to look like it.
There are GREEN dry cleaners. And if you love a garment and it’s intricate with stoning or sequins or pearls, or FEATHERS or fur- take it to the dry cleaners! You are supporting a local business and it’s worth it!
Shearling birks don't get hot 😊 even in the summer. Also I have birks for just to wear at home for "slippers" since I have plantar fasciitis and should always wear something to support my arches.
I love mine! I wear them as house shoes, only. They are incredibly comfortable, cushion my feet and take the shock off of my knees!❣️
I have the shearling-lined suede Birk close-toed slides (2nd pair ) and LOVE them as my house shoes also in the winter! I wear them outside sometimes (as long as it’s not raining LOL) but I agree with Shea - not really feeling the all-shearling Arizona sandals LOL.
Yes I have the Boston shearling clogs for slippers bc my feet get cold and I need great support. They’re very expensive but I work from home and wore my last pair EVERY DAY for two years. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent. They’re basically a medical device for me 😂
You forgot to mention ALL the high end designer bags. They scream "I am insecure so I'M GOING TO TRY TO LOOK RICH". When I was poor I desperately wanted an LV bag. Now that I don't have to worry about money, and can buy anything I want, I refuse to advertise a designer's brand. And when I look at other women carrying these bags I think "wow, I was just like her once. Poor but trying to look rich".
Totally agree! I see so many women with the LV Neverfull that can NO WAY afford them. They are either fake bags or they drained their savings to buy it. This may sound harsh but when they are wearing cheap everything else, that’s a sign they can’t afford the purse IMO.
The last thing a rich woman wants to do is to look rich. So the woman you are sitting next to in economy class just might have millions of dollars. She just chooses to be low key and spend money on the things that matter. I myself am a thrift store junkie. I carry vintage Coach purses and only wear Sketchers. My biggest expenses are college tuition funds and travel.
You are SO RIGHT!! Dry cleaning chemicals are causing horrible health problems!!!
Furry Birks make perfect house slippers when you need the support!
Yes. They do make perfect house shoes! I love mine; they are incredibly comfortable!❣️I use them as house shoes, only.
I don’t like them personally, but they make sense for those of us in the south of the US. It doesn’t always get super cold down here but cold enough where these make sense in the winter. Now if I lived somewhere where it actually snowed or rained a lot, I totally get why someone would think they are ridiculous.
designer bags was a huge waste of money trap for me. whole shelf of Chanel and I was "too afraid" to use them so they sat there just looking pretty. Sold them all. much happier hahahah
😊 I feel that way about a lot of expensive stuff and I cannot deal with having designer purses not only are they dangerous for women to wear they are ridiculous because we're judged so much for having them, how did you sell them cuz I really want to sell mine
@@CosmicKindness I used different methods. LV, Gucci, Chanel I joined buy sell chat fb groups and sold quite a bit there. Also Mercari. If you get desperate you can submit quotes to online consignment companies such as fashionphile, rebag etc or even the smaller private ones they take a big cut but you don’t have to deal with the hassle
@@CosmicKindnessI would eBay them.
I hang my knit sweaters by folding them over the bottom part of the hanger, not like my regular tops. Also I have never ruined one by occasionally throwing it in the dryer to shrink it back up if it does get stretched out. I just set a timer and check it every 10-15 minutes to make sure I don’t leave it in too long. Works for me 🤷🏻♀️
That's what I plan to do with my overgrown sweater. Glad to hear it really works. Then I will keep it folded in a drawer.
I've bought great sneakers at Costco that were not expensive and were name brand. They have held up fine. They are also not cheap looking or cheaply made at all. Last for years.
I don't think she is talking about name brand for less. The pic she showed looked more like the Walmart dupe of shoes by Steve Madden and Alexander McQueen.
@@GishGirlB Maybe. I was not sure but I definitely find good ones that are not expensive at Costco and most of the time they are name brand.
In Canada, sneakers sold at Costco are typically last year's model - so brand name sneakers for cheap. (I must admit I can't recognize one year's fashion to the next when dealing with sneakers!)
Expensive sneakers are worth it for your foot health! Esp if you have high arches or flat feet!
Yes, that is another good point!!!
Not necessarily true. They must be well made. Expensive does not equal quality.
Call me a snob but I don’t order clothing from Amazon unless it’s a brand I know and trust.
I Lke loose fitting shirts. And the “shrugs”are good for covering the arms from the sun but still showing off a cute tank or crop.
The furry sandals make as much sense as the models shown advertising long puffer coats, wearing strappy stiletto sandals.
Make a video more about handbags that are overrated/unusable! A throwback to old Shea!
I live on the west coast of Florida the furry Birkenstocks are perfect in the winter especially inside or quick errands. They are just enough to keep your feet warm, not hot, and are extremely comfortable. Just because you don’t live in a warm climate don’t knock it. The same goes with cropped tops over a tank, on cool days and evenings.
I agree with everything you said! Very true on the bags. I bought a Dior saddle. Can't get my hand inside of it. Regretted the purchase the next day. When I was in LA and no longer in Paris. Never used it.
I agree with everything you said. Those furry Birkenstocks are hilarious.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those and the mules are the “most ugliest “ shoes ever seen😂
Never likes them to begin with
When I was in my 20s and tiny I would rock shrugs with tank dresses and they were amazing.
Some of these revelations are a result of getting older and wiser…..
So true about essentials like t shirts, underwear etc. I've learn my lesson.
Agree that it is worth it to buy good quality underwear and basics. They may be more expensive to buy - but cost per wear they work out far cheaper.
I just got a pair of Adidas sambas for $64! A good deal.
I couldn't wear shrugs. I felt like I had a too small sweater on
Yes I totally agree!
Oof was not expecting the ill fitting basics one lol you got me there 😅
That’s the only one that really stung lol spot on
Shea, I just have to know if you’re still spraying Poo Pourri all over your bathroom. 😂 I couldn’t resist teasing you about that. ❤
these are same products months , years ago she was pushing for Amazon!!
I love ❤️ all your videos but think this might be one of my favorites! Completely agree 💯 with you on EVERYTHING you said! 👏👏👏
Some of my cotton clothes say "dry clean only" and I chuckle. Come on! It's cotton. I hand wash and it's just fine.
I recommend creating videos that don't pressure viewers to buy. It's important to resist consumerism, especially during times of inflation and economic challenges.
She's literally a product reviewer. That's her job. Maybe search for other RUclips channels that may be of more interest to you.
It is better to resist consumerism. But also good to know what could be a waste by getting reviews
I have been following @SheaWhitney for years. I have bought many recommended products and shared her videos with others I knew would find them helpful. I enjoy the videos that offer tips and tricks on various subjects. I suggested this because I know her ability to create excellent content on different topics, such as her recent video on things to avoid buying.
Shes just giving her opinion. Move on if you don't like it. The little bags are stupid.
I love 2 crop shrugs for when you want to wear short sleeves, tanks or tube tops but don’t want to show arm! Especially at the gym. It’s nice when you’re in between waxes or shaving as well lol
I like them because it’s long sleeve but not a full hoodie but not a tight shirt. Definitely good for the gym and wearing a sports bra underneath. I have anxiety sweat too so I like them for that.
I love the fuzzy Uggs. They make perfect slippers here in Texas.
Agree with all except the cheap sneakers. I always pay over $100 for them, but I was in a pinch on a trip once so bought a $20 pair. Walked miles in them in Vegas and had no issues! They were so comfortable that I'm going to buy another pair in white!
Where did you get them from if you don’t mind me asking
I totally agree. There are comfortable “cheap” sneakers. Sorry but $50 is not cheap!
@@kiiyaani8234exactly this lady is lost
I agree , and with shoes more expensive does not always mean they will be comfortable. For someone who work on foot all day , not just for a short walk - a good shoe will be the one that does not make my feet hurt or tired after all day in them. And most of the time for me those are the $20-30 once .
I definitely dig for those comfy undies!!!
If it's in my closet and it's been a year and I haven't worn it? Donate!! Out of sight, out of mind!!!
Great video Shea!!! Xoxo
Yes - that is a great policy!!!
I’m glad you’ve had luck with not dry cleaning. The few times I didn’t, my clothes were ruined. I do it with every piece that asks for dry cleaning.
I hand wash unless it's a blazer, lined wool pants or dress that has to be pressed.
It's hard to find underwear to fit my butt. I'm toned, not fat or flat but some styles ride up because the leg holes are too big. The only brand I've worn for decades is Olga Secret Hug Scoop Hipsters. Whenever I see them on sale, I buy a dozen. They aren't particularly cheap and considered 'granny panties' but I don't care.
Never cheap out on shoes for children or as you age. You have to walk for the rest of your life and you don’t want to be in pain.
That amazon sweater must have been made of acrylic.
What are your recommendations for cleaning coats since you said you are against dry cleaning. Do you still dry clean those or is there an alternative? Also some formal dresses.
The Laundress used to have some videos and blog posts about how to clean fabrics that may still be around. I’ve followed their instructions to wash lots of things that I used to dry clean (silk clothes, wool coat, down puffer coat, cashmere sweaters, etc) and everything has turned out perfectly. There is also a no-rinse cleanser by another brand that’s available for more delicate materials that you can search for online. (Sorry, I’m on a quick work break so don’t have time to search myself & share more specific info.)
@@fiveandfour thank you, I will check on those!!!
Excellent question!
I stopped buying dry clean only clothes a long time ago. Such a pain.
And it’s so expensive to dry clean..,
Furry sandals are slippers... House shoes for winter. Haha
Love the lipstick you’re wearing. Enjoy your videos!
I have not sent anything to dry cleaners in over 20 years. I hated the smell of the chemicals. I spot clean and stuck things in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet or I air things out by hanging outside.
I use Dryell on all, and in the spring, they all go to the dry cleaners. Do, once a year, for cashmere.
I don't know about how cheap sneakers look cheap , but cheap sneakers are not good for your feet! Spend the extra money on really good sneakers and your feet will thank you!
Oh my goodness. I just got the shirt you are wearing and now I'm wearing. I bought 2 other colors! So nice. Thank you. I have such a great time watching your channel.
YAYYYY! I love it tooooo!!!
Link?
@@dianekiko4504 Hi the link is above that says shirt I'm wearing. It is really nice material and fits perfectly.
You may be able to find an environmentally friendly dry cleaner, using a European method. Very good, and no chemical smell
What good are those ridiculous mini bags if you can't even fit your phone in it??? 😂
I know, right?? So weird!
That blush pink shirt looks so good on you :)
Listen. Are your armpits easily too hot or sweaty but your arms are still cold? Haha I actually love the shrugs. Keep my arms warm while letting the pits breathe.
I do NOT do plastic handbags. I did it once, and it looks cheap. Always buy leather.
Just want to say you’re the best and I always look forward to your videos ❤
So agree re: chemicals. I hate them in regular laundry detergent let alone dry cleaning. Shea what low toxin nail polish do you recommend? I haven't used polish for years now but think I might on my toes this summer :) Thx
It's not the loose knit, it's the cheap material that they make the items.
you knocked this OUT.OF.THE.PARK! First time I have 100% agreed with the entire video. Keep it up!
If it doesn’t fit you perfectly, get rid of it? I’d have no clothes! Perfectly fitting clothes are hard to come by on a budget.
I’ve been watching some runway shows on Fashion feed, lol, there were a couple things you mentioned were actually shown on the runway. Number one was that tiny so called sweater thing that covered just the shoulders and arms.😂. From more than one designer.
just put the delicates in wash bags... they have them for bra's and all sizes.. then in the washing machine
Myself and my teen daughters wash all our bras in laundry bags and then hang to dry.
I love the croped hoodies for the gym. I wear it when i'm warming up, going to from the gym and for running when it's between (6 - 16 C°) . I also look like a cool Ninja or the Hero in some dystopian mad max montage. I love it!
Your loose sweater had me laughing so hard! I am sorry for your wasted money though. Loving your channel!
Love your honesty about these items and especially your perspective on designer bags! Presented in a fun way, too! ❤
I will dry clean a white linen denim style jacket. They're ironing nightmares!
Practical and logical.
OMG, finally someone also thinks that a lot of beautiful designer bags are so annoying to use....or totally not practical bc they don't have zippers or inside pockets. Can you make a video with really good designer bags, please? 🙏🏻 still haven't found one
Check out the LV Odeon for a practical crossbody. There are older styles on the pre-loved market, but a newer version currently sold in stores/online.
@@GishGirlB thank you, I looked online and it really looks like it is practical 👍🏻😀
@@Enja6856 you're welcome! It seems like it is a really loved bag!
Girl u need to NOT hang ur sweaters!
Your diamond ring is OUTSTANDING!!!
She should be a hand model!
It’s a fake. She’s admitted it in her video when she bought it! !
@@bethbounds2873 Fake or real I wouldn't wear it out in public in a big city. You might lose a finger
Just a thought, the red border on the thumbnail made me think that I already viewed this one. It's almost the exact thickness of the red line on a video already viewed.
I never take anything to the dry cleaner. I know how to hand wash, or use delicate on my washer. And lay flat to dry. I understand the designer bag. I bought a YSL wallet on a chain. It’s beautiful. But it doesn’t fit much. And it’s very very heavy. I think I’ve carried it once. It’s in the box in my closet. Someday when I’m feeling strong I may get it out again. But it’s only going to fit a card maybe my phone and I’m going to be wearing my glasses. Because they aren’t going to fit. I do have a Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis and I carry that all the time. I can fit everything I need in it. I know logos are out. But I spent the money on that bag. And I’m going to carry it until I die. And then my oldest granddaughter will get it.
I have the shearling Birkenstock sandals. I live in the PNW, and I wear them all through the fall and spring (without socks!). They are so comfortable and cozy. Don’t knock what you haven’t tried.
I really love the fur loafers. I think it's because where I live I have a lot of days where I get chilly but it doesn't call for a boot, and those are just like cozy slippers. I get what you mean though.
The only thing I thought of was wearing them inside the house if you want to have a slipper that has a good heel on it and just keep them for the living room and doing things at home
Interesting. You sure have a lot of ideas and thoughts. I would wager that you are sponsored by Amazon though. Keep up the good work😊
Shea, you’re maturing. I’m actually very surprised about your feedback on designer bags. I sold my Channel, LV and others for that same reason and I’ve outgrown them. But, what irritates me most is seeing women who dress sloppy, unattractive and classless with a huge LV bag slung over their shoulder as if that represents class. NO NO NO. WOW, it feels so good to dress stylish and I receive compliments all the time. Age appropriate works wonders.❤
If an item is marked :Dry Clean Only" us usually due to the fabric content, trims, or that the item is lined. Dry clean it! If it says :Dry clean", you can usually wash by hand or on delicate cycle and lay the item on a drying rack.
😂😂 Totally agree with your common sense and sanity ❤ 👍👍👍
The growing sweater may have been made from yarn that was poor quality rayon. I’ve seen several growing woven fabrics from rayon but haven’t had problems with loose knit sweaters myself
I love the small purse bag . I can put it in work bag and use it to go out and carry less crap. I don’t need all the makeup and other crap I’m bigger bag
Furry Birkenstocks or any Birkenstocks is something you wear inside your home.
I love shrugs! They just take the chill out when in a restaurant while I’m seated and fit easily in a small purse so easy to carry. The trick is finding the right type of sleeveless fitted garment to go under it.
Nailed it this time! There are usually at least a couple things I don’t agree with you on but not this time. Seriously TINY BAGS!?!? Some marketing genius found a new, money making gimmick. And as far as the bags that are a pain in the “patute” to use……..that one is on us for not being better consumers.
I love all the Sketchers sneakers I get from Costco 😂
Are you joking or so you like Sketchers
@@chrisgrzybek925 I’m not joking. I love Sketchers.
Who wears shoelaces past 30????
I don't keep up with modern trends, so I gasped when I saw the furry birkenstocks 😂. For a few seconds I was thinking "no way this exists, this *has* to be a prank". It really looks like a fake product for a comedy sketch. Same with the tiny bag, but that one I had alreay seen, so it didn't shock me as much. Regarding the designer bag, I fully agree that function is key. I don't own a designer bag, by my sturdiest, most perfect-sized wallet is a Louis Vuitton I got as a gift almost 20 years ago. It has been very useful for all this time, so... truly excellent gift!
I have a pair of Birkenstock sandals with fur on just the inside. The straps are made out of a felt looking material. Believe it or not they are warm. They are the only reason I continued getting pedicures during the winter. I love them
Same! I love mine
I love mine too!
I love my furry Birkenstocks. When I broke my toe it was the pair of shoes I could wear that gave my toe support. No regrets on buying them. It happened in the early fall so I was fine wearing them without socks. Now that’s it winter, still wear them inside.
The arm shrugs are amazing and it derives from dance core 🖤
I totally agree about luxury bags. Bought a Louie Vuitton in Italy not my fave because of the way you wear it. Just bought my LV Odeon I researched a lot & I love it. It fits my life perfectly
No one engages in modesty anymore. I disagree with you about dry cleaned items. I like silk blouses and wool skirts. I used them in my career as a legal assistant and I love silk. Don’t worry about me and cleaning chemicals. I’ve made it to 71 without any issues. I don’t buy designer anything. Classic only.
I'm having that growing sweater dilemma now with a beautiful Ralph Lauren cotton sweater. My idea is to wash it in really hot water and then throw it in a really hot dryer to see if it shrinks. If that doesn't work, I will need to find a large cauldron to boil it on the stove.
The Birkenstock sandals should be worn indoors in a home where you do not use any outdoor shoes . Like we do in Scandinavia, we take off our outdoor shoes at the moment we enter the house and shift to indoor shoes or slippers and our floors can be pretty cold.
Where do you recommend cleaning wool coats?
I love shrugs! They are great fot those of us that are hot one minute and freezing the next! And they are great at the gym! Money well spent for me, 🤩🤩
Shea fashion isn’t practical by its very nature ! Cut outs on clothing don’t have to expose your boobies, so cut outs can be stylish. Cheap white sneakers are better than zero white sneakers. Just walk “expensive” ...😂lol.
As a knitter, I can say all cotton, cotton/rayon, cotton anything is going to grow, grow, grow. Acrylics, too. There is no bounce in those yarns. Hanging them only makes it worse.
Furry sandals do kind of make sense in coastal regions where it’s kind of warm but then cools down in the breeze
