      Note. Nice video but…Correction. It was car capital of the world, not of the nation. Also Detroit is known for its history of music, Motown records. To add, how about Mexican town, Greek town, Irish town, Indian Village and the eastern market? All awesome! To add, the Q Line urban train and the People Mover subway is all free to take. Also designed free parking in downtown and, new tallest skyscraper, a record breaking new bridge being built to Canada and the Ford Brain Train Station is another fine addition. Another Correction: the population increases substantially last year in 2023 and the violent crime has went down substantially in the last 10 years. Downtown in particular is pretty safe for an American mega city.

    Have nothing but love for my hometown. We’ve been spit at, talked about, mocked, and yet, we’re still here. And that shows the resiliency and toughness that detroit is all about.
    However, I’d like the city to take the offensive into making itself better for the long term future. Make a push to become a regional high tech center specializing in aerospace and nanotechnology, as well as it becoming a financial center for banking. Establish true city-wide public transportation with light rail. Let’s all work together, not as blacks or whites, but as detroiters.

    I bought a house here in Detroit in 2020. These homes were built in the 20’s and 30’s. The brick is still good. My house would cost 350-400K to build now. Detroit has changed for the better in the last 10-15 years. I’m glad I’m here along for the ride as it happens.

    While you can ride the Detroit People Mover around the downtown area, it doesn't go as far as the airport. DTW is 17 miles via I-94 or US-12 from Detroit. Monthly and Yearly passes are available, otherwise it's $0.75 each time you board. Detroit is a great city with much to see and do. With three casinos plus one across the river in Windsor, Canada. Take a cruise on the Detroit Princess along the river or visit Greektown. See the best auto show in the United States, The North American International Auto Show.

    I have been considering moving and buying a house in detroit, even opening a taco shack or some type of mexican food, but the property tax in detroit is 4.6% way way too high

    • @alexanderzachary4650
      @alexanderzachary4650 Год назад +6

      Property taxes are high, but the values are low so it balances out to similar that of most places. Also a lot of neighborhoods and condo buildings fall into what is known as NEZ Zones where taxes are capped at a lower rate. Also, Detroit has a very fair property tax appeal system and many/most people are able to lower their taxes. I am a Realtor and would be more than happy to chat more about this! Detroit taxes are complex but they shouldn't deter over other cities. Example, I just sold a Condo for $232,000. The taxable value was $70k... not $116k which you would think, so the taxes are around $4100. It might be high taxes but the condo itself should have cost around $400k to buy in most other cities. So I do encourage you to pursue your dreams in Detroit!

    Detroit is my hometown and I believe in it's re-birth...but one point you should know - the home owner taxes are very high. research that..and rent prices in the inner core renovaited areas are also super high. there are alot of things to conside including winter heating costs...they mentioned Hamtramck, where I grew up- the house prices there are way extram expensive and I was also how expensive to rent a flat.- it is also high- over priced....last thing - the winter weather, if you do not like cold extreme weather and snow...then perhaps this is not so good. old saying "Go west young man"
