    These sto-n-go sets by Mattel were part of a broader array of Hotwheels add-ons for kids who were big on creating their own little worlds as a backdrop for their hotwheels cars.
    They filled a gap in the toy market at a time when the toymakers were producing somewhat realistic versions of vehicles seen in the real world. Trains were always a big hit and the more relatable the better, hence the branding and use of several real railroad names.

    I had a chance to get a complete set a while back and missed the opportunity. Nothing I’ve learned is best time to buy is when it’s right there for the taking. 😂

    1:41 both of my GP40s from this line have broken couplers, but I don’t really care, and besides, there a near 41 years old

      The original 1983 Freight Set came with Santa Fe. The 1990 release came with Rio Grande!

    I know people sell the stickers. I think someone should design 3D printer replacements of some of those parts.

      Especially the crates for the boxcars! Oh and wood loads for the flat cars!

      Some 3D printed wheel sets and couplers would be a plus for restorations on these.
      I've managed to repair a few cars and a few engines with parts scavenged from broken ones, so it is doable... just hard to take apart without breaking more. BTW, loctite CA glue is a must, along with a flat blade pocket screw driver for removing shells.

    So what was the purpose of Mattel buying Tycho if they weren't going to continue with the HO scale trains

    Do any thomas toys work with this?

    • @Dadified86
      @Dadified86  4 месяца назад

      Sort of. I have some old ERTL DieCast Thomas engines that work on the straight sections but they can’t really navigate the curves without derailing instantly.
