20:14 She's right about that, mosquitoes hate smoke. That rubbish was probably left there by youth who go to these lean-to shelters on weekends to have a barbecue and get drunk. Finland is full of those places and they are free to use.
Last month I drove from south Finland to north Finland (Sodankylä) to take furniture to my wife’s cabin in the woods. Being a Welsh man that had never driven in Europe & this being my first time. I loved everything about it. The bits I loved was how nice everyone was & how clean all the roads are. The off tarmac roads were brilliant. The bits I didn’t like was the mosquitoes. I got used to wearing the net hat. I got so badly bitten by the mosquitoes that I had a skin infection on my hands that I had to have a week off work when I got back to the UK as it felt like the skin on my hands were ripping ever time I moved them. In total I did 2478km in 3 days & a bit of work on the cabin ready for us to go out there next month & in November. Have a brilliant time both ride safe.

A Finnish person here. I spent my childhood in the Finnsih lake district, a great place to grow up. Yes all the space and the vast forrests are a real treasure. Finland has a so called "every man's right", all wild nature, even private land, is free for all to enjoy. Of course you must play by the rules, you aren't allowed to harm the nature or disturb other people.

It's a beautiful photo of Martha. The whole scene evokes peaceful feelings. What a road trip! Btw...whenever it'll fit, I'd put up the tent in the lean to. Next level camping and completely out of the rain and dew. See you next time ❤ Lauren
Yes, a really nice photo. Well done Mitch. Martha is beautiful. Keep the videos coming. I am really enjoying it. I know it can’t be easy doing them when you are travelling 👍
If you haven't already, try looking at backpacking for lightweight food and cookware ideas. There's a wealth of info on the subject. Being able to go a week or more without hitting a grocery store will not only save you time/money but will simplify your day and allow you to stay places longer. Great photo!

15:37 Thats called Laavu. One side is open on fireplace side. Even in winter that is warmer and keeps rain away on summer. 18:09 You must hit the axe on the end side of the log. And when it start to split hit to split...repeat.😊
You need to get a locking cable for your helmets and jackets. Mosko Moto sells a good one. Don’t put valuables in your tank bag. Carry any valuables in a backpack (instead putting food in there). Do these things and then you can go see the sights you want!
Slept almost 10 hours??? Wow, that must be nice. I sure wish I could sleep that long! You’re on an adventure who cares what time you get going??? Stop planning along a timeframe and just enjoy!
Hi Martha and Mitch, watched chapter 2 and 3 Norway. Glad you were OK Martha after your fall. Great you get back on your bike and carry on. The landscape looks wonderful, with trees and lakes. Good to see you having fun swimming in the lake. Happy for you both that everything is working out well on this latest adventure, motor bike life. Keep safe ,look forward to watch chapter 4. Both doing a great of of filming your travels, like the back ground music too. Take care, allthe best T I'm Melbourne.
I too came across your channel only yesterday about the off-road training and have been binge watching your adventure's from the start. You both make a beautiful couple and I hope you both have a fantastic experience with your travels.... Martha of the lake, that photo is magical. Can't wait for the next post....love to you both 👍👍👍👍
Great photo of Martha with the fly screen on her head. It reminded me of queen victoria when she was mourning her late husband. So funny Martha 😊 Great vlog you have a gift for photos brilliant 😊
Watched all your videos on your channel and loving the transition to the bike trips, it's a nice change from all the van life channels. Keep up the good work guys ❤
Fabulous. Another great video. I always feel emotional watching you two and your adventures together. I was wondering could you stay longer with you saying your not covering enough miles in a day. Great picture by the way.
Well done you two.. great video, beautiful countryside and forests, those lakes are wonderful. Your photo of Martha is lovely.. Love the smooth drone filming end. Looking forward to the next one..
Absolutely love the photo of Martha! Really, really enjoying this series 😀🌲 It's got everything - the highs/lows, funny bits, reflective - so well done, you two!
Another great video, you two drive safe. Remember enough ever minute, time goes by so fast, next thing you know you are old and watching you great guys and envy you so much. Thanks
Great series so far. It might be a bit late but I highly recommend treating your base layers/camp clothes with Permethrin. You'd likely have to order it and it sounds scary but it works super super well in my experience. Especially when used in combination with regular bug spray. I live in the PNW of the USA and even when I camp somewhere full of mosquitoes I usually end up getting away with maybe 1 bite but usually no bites.
This is Scandinavia. I wouldn't really worry about having stuff stolen unless you leave the bike in one off the larger cities. Maybe just take the phone and wallet with you
Just found your channel a day ago, and feel you are a great couple and your videos are really fun and interesting. Dont know how far you have come in real time, but go to the nearest hardware store and buy a small portable THERMACELL. Which will help you keep most mosquitos away. Think it is a Finnish product but should be able to get also in Sweden and Norway. Enjoy Scandinavia, drive safe and have fun. 😊
Hello. 14.35 usually gates like that tells you to stay away (Private roads to summer cottages or land owners lands) here in Finland. Land owners not happy if you go their lands but.. there was no sign in it sooo.. i think you are good to go!😊 But keep in mind. Loving your trip so far! 🎉🎉
Great series - reegarding visiting places - most places will have a cloakroom if you pay or ask nicely. In Bastogne museum I put my bag, jacket and helmet safely behind their desk - for free!
Zillions of mosquitoes, that's keeping me away from the North of Europe (most of the time). Life inside a smoker would be a way round it ;-) But it's empty in Scandinavia, nice to ride, and the lakes are marvellous. Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg
If you want to avoid the worst of the mosquitoes and still have a decent weather for riding, the best time to come to Finland would be August. The worst mosquito time is from about mid June till the end of July. Some years are worse than others, so sometimes even July is not that bad. Relatively speaking of course. Most years though I'd avoid July if mosquitoes are an issue.
Take really valuable items (wallet, passports, camera etc) with you. But all other stuff (helmets etc) can stay on the bikes. Maybe use a lightweight cable lock for the peace of mind. Theft is uncommon here. Thermacell helps for mosquitos. Nice photo of her BTW
I always carry a bike cover I leave my helmet and jacket under the cover on the bike out of site out of mind never had anything stolen well worth carrying everytime you cant see your bike cover it. Safe travels
The easiest way to get drinking water is just to go to the nearest restroom, toilet, whatever. All water from any tap is usually very good, and, of course, free of charge.
Thought id relax to some jammy kits tonight and the video quality hasn’t finished uploading fully 😭😭😭 and i wanna see the beauty so ill have to wait until tomorrow

Watching your adventures with interest! Thanks for your input. Great job. Just asking myself what kind of tires you have on yor bikes. I'm planning a similar trip for 2025 and riding the CRF 300 Rally.
You remind me of my dear friend Tom from Luton, on our trip to Norway he did like 8 small crashes and a big one ended up in the ambulance helicopter. This has got me thinking that people from the UK should not ride gravel roads in Scandinavia without some guidance. You need some speed to handle the bike properly on slippery surfaces, 40-50km/h might be more unsafe than twice as much. Your gear is also quite overkill and heavy. Lite weight packing means it takes less space and it affects the bikes handling in a less negative way.
Hmm... beautiful spot you found again for camping! This time I don't know where it is actually located? (You shouldn't ride behind those closed gates. The landowners put those gates there for a reason)
