- I had a once in a lifetime close up look of these remarkable Bell Boeing MV-22 Presidential Osprey. These are Tiltrotor military aircraft with both vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. It is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft. Thank you for watching & please subscribe.
Absolutely brilliant and cool on these MV-22B Osprey in Presidential colours 🤩😁

These helicopters are very big but I really like president Obama.
Thanks for watching Max 👍😎
What happens if you have single engine failure in a sprey? Would love to see video of that landing.
I asked one of the pilot's that same question and he said it continues to fly fine. I would like to see video of an engine shutdown also.
Ed Whisenant I looked into this. Turns out that there is a complex system where a massive jointed driveshaft runs through the center of the main wing connecting both engines together with a variable mechanism to engage and disengage. So if one engine fails a single turbine then powers both propellers at reduced but suffices rpm (n1) to provide emergency landing lift. So there should never be a single engine failure where one rotor stops. In that case it's a critical failure where the sprey could not possibly maintain stable flight
Thanks so much for passing on the information :)
Thanks for info. I thought V-22 would have some redundant back-up for single engine failure since it's pretty heavy and any type if lift would be used to land it ASAP and not for any prolonged flight time. Osprey was still in final test/eval before my ETS in 92. Still not reliable enough but what is 100% ?
Carbivore69 no, actually since that is not physically possible. The rotors extend well beyond the body of the aircraft and if you tried to land it in full tilt forward (like a plane on single engine ) you would crash by slamming the rotors into the ground. I'm sure their are lots of bells and alarms you would get too. This is a helicopter not a vertical lift plane. It must land and take off with rotor in up or tilt up position. Thrust is not directed straight back and in one engine scenario that means the imbalance can not be corrected with rudder ..making for extreme complication and instability. This is why the engines are connected to each rotor so both spin in one engine failure.
при отказе одного мотора сдюжит?
Thank you for watching, This has been talked about on previous post.
They were seem at TJSJ.
Ya they really get around, thanks for watching.

The V-22 isn't a helicopter, it's a tiltrotor aircraft.
You are correct it is a tiltrotor aircraft. Everyone I know calls it a helicopter :)
Thank you for your comment and for watching.
Actaully it's a *HSAW AKNOW*

PRESIDENTIAL VERTIBIRDS!
