    • @ingipark
      @ingipark  3 года назад +1

      heyy!! so in my opinion it doesn’t matter if a monologue is over done, if you have a connection with it then you know that is the one you want to do. i would look up websites that have a whole bunch of plays and then find the plays you like, because most plays have monologues and that is much easier than just finding a monologue. if you search up “monologues for teens” a lot of the time those monologues aren’t even from published plays and then you can’t use it for your audition. so find some good plays to start ;) hope this helps

      yes i’ve taken a couple of acting classes and workshops/camps outside of school. in high school i also took drama for all four years. also the shakespeare monologues were easier to find but for the contemporary monologues i took a whole day to do a deep web dive and find really good ones (basically a search on google “best contemporary monologues for (sad drama or comedic teen)”). i also used play scripts to find a play i liked and then found a monologue in that.

      i would suggest that you apply the year before attendance of the school. so if you are hoping to attend fall 2022 then apply fall 2021 because that’s when applications open for nyu. but you can still prepare early if you’d like with monologues and drama classes. you don’t need to take the sat but you should keep track of your grades we don’t have a gpa system where i live either but you can search up how to calculate your gpa on google with your grades from where you live. hope this helps let me know if you need more info!!

    Hey, I’m still 15 and I’m not from the USA. I have zero clue about college so I’m doing my research now, and I’m sorry if it doesn’t make sense.
    I was wondering if NYU offers their graduates a BFA degree for acting?
    May I know what is the workload like in a degree like yours? I was thinking of double majoring bio and BFA acting but is it too much to handle in your opinion?
    Also, if im planning to start this degree when im 20 is it too late?
    (Since if its too much to double major I’m planning to major in bio first in another college for 3 years)
    Do you have any idea what I should do now to be prepared before applying in the future, like what should I do now so that my personal resume will look presentable later on?
    I live in a country where our schools have no theatrical activities, should I go to community/private theatres to practice my acting?
    And does being in commercials or as an extra on tv/movies make your chances higher to be accepted in NYU? If i have experience in these do I include it in my resume?
    Again, I have so many questions and these are the ones i really need to be answered. I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks so much ! ❤️

    • @ingipark
      @ingipark  4 года назад +3

      Heyy! So in my opinion I think acting classes are really essential because they prepare you to perform your best when you do your monologues however it’s not impossible to get in with min experience. There is a section that requires you to hand it an acting resume which outlines all your past work (plays, movies, tv shows, training), so if you have less it might impact your chances of getting in but the audition is the most important part. My advice is that if you’re country doesn’t have high school drama clubs or plays to study acting online for free, watch videos or attend online classes if possible! In addition to that, when you are practicing your monologues for the audition make sure to do it in front of many different people so you can get feedback! I hope this helps ;)

For example, I studied a year musical theatre apart from school too and we also did a play in a local theatre . I’m not longer in that studio and I was wondering if sending pictures of me acting on stage in that play could work. Thanks!! ❣️

    • @ingipark

      When you apply you’ll create your acting resume which is like a resume for a job but specifically for acting and it’ll have a template for you. All you have to do is write what it was plus a year (acting classes - 2020) and sometimes you might have to add the teacher/company name. Hi Ingrid! Thanks for the video, it was really helpful. I live in Asia and acting has always been a dream come true for me. I want to go to acting school/film school to pursue my dreams but I'm not very sure if I should. I'm afraid if I do get in, I wouldn't be able to succeed and regret my decision. Is there any merit-based scholarship for this program? The tuition is very expensive...I'm 13 btw! Do you have any advice for me:>?

      thanks so much for watching!! wow 13 and already thinking about university, well you have a lot of time to save up and prepare yourself. i think you should go for it if u really want to pursue acting! for now build up your acting resume, take classes and do plays etc. financially it is a very expensive school and they don’t have scholarships for international students so i would save up now and once you start your first year there are scholarships but i’m not sure if it covers the whole tuition. there is financial aid but it’s still way too expensive with that. hope this helps!
