Why Cersei is the Best Character on Game of Thrones

  • Cersei Lannister may just be one of the most hated characters in the history of television. The ruthless Queen will stop at nothing to maintain her own power and will Destroy anyone who she believes threatens her or her family. In my opinion, Cersei is the best villain that the show has ever seen, and currently the best character on the show. The version of Cersei Lannister portrayed in Game of Thrones is not surprisingly quite different from the one in which George RR Martin created in his A Song of Ice and Fire books series. The version of Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones is far more relatable and is more humanized in the viewer's eye than she ever was in the books.
Take the exchange between Catelyn and Cersei in season 1 after bran falls from the Broken Tower. Cersei tells the story of her first and only child with Robert, a child with dark hair that died soon after its birth. Cersei tells no such story in the books but the show version of Cersei seems to have been earnest and quite emotional when she recounted the story to Catlin. Right from the start, Cersei is demonstrating to be a character containing a significant amount of emotional depth. In George RR Martin's novels for the first three books, Cersei comes across as merely a vindictive, arrogant, and cruel person in many ways fulfilling the Trope of the evil queen. It is not until A Feast for Crows that we see the world from Cersei's point of view and even then she's still not relatable in the same way that Cersei Lannister is relatable in the show.

Funny how Tyrion has become the least compelling Lannister in the show ever since he killed his father...

She is one of the few complex characters in the show. They stripped down many characters from their complexity, but Cersei is on point.

I think Lena is a genius actress and will forever be the break out star of this series for me.

Cersei haters don't understand that there is no point of the show without Cersei. She is the center of the game and without her it'd be boring and tasteless.

in the show she is actually a lioness, doing everything to protect her cubs. I really love her character even when I hate her

Cersei is strong and fierce to the point that she doesn't need dragons to appear powerful/frightening.

The Lannisters are the shows best characters. Jaime is my favorite and one of the very best. It was ecstatic when Cersei was imprisoned by the Faith!

It's a crime that Lena Headey hasn't won an Emmy yet for this show. She better win one for season 8.

Its crazy to think that apart from the trip to Winterfell in the first episode and the ride back in the second, Cersei has never once left King's Landing.

That scene with Catelyn was what Tyrion said about her "making honest feelings do dishonest work is one of her many gifts".

"When my daughter was taken from me, my only daughter...well you cant imagine if you lost a child. I fed her at my own breast, even when they told me to give her to the wet nurse, but I couldn't bare to see her in another woman's arms. I never got to have a mother, but Myrcella had me. She was mine and you took her from me, why did you do that?"

Not only is Cersei one of the best characters, she’s played by one of the best actors on the show. Lena Headey is simply fantastic.

I don't hate cersei, i understand her, she's probably the most real character in the show, in contrast to the aetherial perfection they try to show dany as, despite the actions they both take towards their enemies being similar, dany is portayed as good and cersei as bad

I've been saying this since season 7 ended! She was like the only one who acted consistently in character that season.
