    Usually, I place the passing highlights in the second half of the video for most players, but for Rubio, passing comes first.
    Credits to the NBA, the sole owner of these highlights.

    As a Wolves fan its hard to love the future of Rubio. He's phenomenal at passing, running a team, playing defense and bringing energy every game. But he's on pace to be statistically the worst shooter in the modern era. It's one thing if you're jumper is suspect, but he struggles to make layups. People wanna compare him to Rondo or Kidd but those guys could/can finish around the rim. People also thought he would evolve into this great all around player quickly, but you can't rush it with some guys. Give him another year or 2 before making definitive statements.

    Ricky is totally not overrated. He passes first because he prefers not to score but can when he needs to. It's not always about who scores the most. He's a playmaker and assist man at heart.

    It's funny because if he even shot 42% he would be considered one of the better PG's in the game today but the fact he shoots 34% makes him an overrated scrub to many people. Scoring has too much of an effect on peoples opinions on players. Phenomenal passer, very good defender, good rebounder, good height for a PG, and still has youth. All that gets put aside and people focus on his scoring/lack of shooting. He obviously needs to improve that, but look at what else he can do. Hopefully him improves, I mean hell he's only fucking 23

      same here man i kept in mind throughout this entire video that he needs to improve his shooting. offensively he's good in other categories and just as impressive defensively. people want to just score nowadays. i like it b/c now i go up against players that cant play defense, while they get shut down.

    This guy is so underrated. He makes everyone better and he is a great defender but nobody talks about that. Steph curry can score but he doesn't play defense but to everyone that's ok but if a player struggles on offense and is a great defender everyone makes a big deal about his offensive struggle. Rubio is a great player that knows the game better than most players his age. He doesn't make bad decisions and has always been the leader of the wolves on the floor. He can shoot that's his weakness I'm sure he works hard on it but I want him on my team because his positives outway his negatives by a large margin

  • @NyQuilDonut
    @NyQuilDonut 10 лет назад +2

    When you consider that much of Adelman's offense this last season ran with Love making passes from the top of the key makes his assist numbers that much more impressive. If Rubio was the one making the passes all the time and not sharing them with Love, he'd easily average ten assists a game or more.

  • @umarbadarsyah2019
    @umarbadarsyah2019 10 лет назад +1

    I wouldn't mind if the Spurs get him next year, hopefully his shooting woes persist so his rate would drop a bit. He just needs good coaching...I mean he only needs to tweak his already good shooting form, and have some guts to drive more and finish instead of turn around and passing...man he can drive from top to bottom into crowds but doesn't finish the job...talk about coaching we have Pop and the shooting guru the doc Chip Engelland.

    lamentables algunos comentarios que leo por aqui. rubio es puro talento, pase, generosidad, rigor defensivo, juego en equipo... que mete poco de acuerdo, pero cuanto da! mirad las medias de puntos de minessota. americanos de tactica ni hablamos...

  • @RENZconzin
    @RENZconzin 10 лет назад +1

    This guy averaged 16 ppg when Love is not playing. Also, this guy is a true point guard, and I know the role has evolved, but we should at least understand that this guy is comfortable at his role to feed Love the ball because Love always wants the ball.

  • @Slimkidd730
    @Slimkidd730 10 лет назад +6

    The problem with his shooting is that it literally isn't a good "shot." His release takes too long and he can't shoot off the dribble. He mostly can shoot set shots but defenders is the NBA are quicker and overall better to defend that shot that he has. I just think he needs a little more time to figure out his shot and develop a better overall offensive repertoire

    Ricky Rubio filled with potential but I don't think will see a rise in it.
    He can pass, yes. it is also the fact he isn't the most aggressive attacker.
    The dude definitely needs to learn how to shoot, but he also need to attack more so the defensive stays true to him and he will be able to create even more shots for his teammates.

    He definitely plays for the TEAM and not for himself. This kind of game style is the real basketball fundamental. Some people say he is not fast enough or athletic, but if speed was everything to basketball so USAIN BOLT would be the greatest player ever !! Vision court, dribbling, passing and score is the base of basketball...does not matter how fast you do it....just do it.

    People keep saying that he's overrated? Even since he has come to the NBA he has been under intense criticism. He knows and anyone who has watched a wolves game knows that he isn't a A class point guard as in he only ticks half the boxes.
    Though the boxes are ticked in very well, leading the league in steals (2nd in %) and coming fourth in assists (8.6). But a starting PG who can't average over 10 points a game is quite a disadvantage to any team.
    I know this shouldn't be used as an excuse but the kid is still 23 years old and has time to improve on his jumper. The only hype around him is his potential, not his current state in the game. One thing that I find interesting is the kid is 6'3 and has the wingspan of 6'9.

  • @Dagg385
    @Dagg385 10 лет назад

    A lot of ppl hate on him but theirs really not that many PG I'd take before him. I honestly think he may be the best passer in the league. I want to see his assist numbers if they get wiggins. Steals are ice and Hess pretty smart defender (not just steal) he needs to fight through screens. Not a terrible 3pt shooter and free throws needs to fix his mid range and develop a MUCH MUCH quicker release and a floater game. but with that said I think the fact everyone says he's overrated actually makes him underrated

  • @xXxX-xj7ht
    @xXxX-xj7ht 10 лет назад

    He is a good Pg in my opinion those may just look like passes but he is threading the needle and making those around him better.He gets after it on defense he chases down rebounds and plays with a lot of energy a.He is only 24 his shooting can improve but you have a Floor Magician be happy.

    Is he any worse than Tony Parker was shooting the ball when Parker came over? Or Jason Kidd for that matter... I would compare him favorably to both and this stage in their careers. Will he ever be throwing down 360 windmills like Lillard Or Rose? Not likely but have you seen Parker play the past few seasons? Rubio can be Parker.

      Gustavo Zanfra Sure, but Pop actually stresses his players to take easy baskets and move along. Tony would've been benched and traded long ago if all he did was do flashy AND-1 passes. That would piss off any reputable coach that barks fundamental game.

    There are only passing highlights?! Okay we all know he's a great passer but i think when you want to win titles or want to be remembered or even being one of the best PG's in the league it's not enough when you just can "pass the ball". When he don't improve his driving, his layups, his quickness, his outsideshot in the next few years i really don't know if it is enough for the nba. Additionally i wanna say I'm no hater or something like that I'm just a little bit sceptical about rubio, sry bro

    He averages like 10 points, 10 assist adn 2 steals, lets make numbers. 10 assists could be like 20 points (or more if they make 3 pointers) and many of the pases he gives finished with a fault, so only with the passes he makes its nearly 30 points, if you add the 10 points he is averaging, its 40 points he is making for the team, that averages 100 .... don't lie to the people .... its important to score 30 points? YES. But if you make nearly 40 for your team, is even the same as someone who scores 25 points. From Spain.

    Rubio is a play maker not your thypical superstar scorer.. Right?
    He can have 20+ assist a game if he wants.
    Wolves became more stronger because of love,rubio and martin.
    They dont have a lebron james nor kd or other superstar players. They grew up by there own.
    Rubio helps a lot.

    Dude just refuses to play to his potential. Looking at his easy scoring, he'd be much more of a threat to opponents if he'd just score the damn ball more often instead of wasting the shot clock lobbing a difficult, flashy pass. This is wherein viewers criticize him harshly. At shooting guard height, he should be knocking down those easy lay-ups and 10 footers every game. Get about 10 to 15 points like Rondo does and get your easy triple doubles.

      Really? Because out of everyone you just named, only Calderon is up there with Rubio. Rubio is the definition of a Pure Point Guard. He's basically todays version of John Stockton.

      mizzle jetson bruh that comment was racist calm down. PG's aren't really known to have the best FG% and yes Rubio is the definition of a true point guard setting up his teammates and getting them in the right spots. As a point guard its the little things that define you to become a leader and "true point guard."
