    ‘K’ is pronounced hard. Hardware has 26 hand selected and matched vintage NOS tubes (including rare magnetic noise gen tube) in the audio chain. In the last year I’ve done lots of pieces with this VST including my first album. VST also has 2 audio input channels and up to 208 tubes worth of emulation (per instance). TMT is the green maraschino on the cake. It’s very quirky - feels sort of alive in a way.

    I owned the first Knifonium shipped by Jonte Knif. I made a video of my Knifonium. I also own the Knifonium plugin. Obviously, it is nice to be able to stack voices in the VST which is impossible with the mono Knifonium. The plugin is good but it really is not nearly as wild as the real thing. I am not being an analog snob by saying this because I would really have loved to say the VST is a really good emulation. The differences at high resonance are really noticeable for example and the different overdrive modes are not really the same either.
    For those worried about tube swapping, it is really easy to get at the tubes and Jonte shipped a complete set of replacement tubes for the synth when I received it. The real Knifonium does not have an arpeggiator although you might think so if you view the video I made. I just used the sample and hold as a modulator.

      what i also did was realize some patches are highly consumptive of CPU-power whereas most are in perfectly normal/acceptable ranges.....especially when you consider it's lushness and uniqueness. i've quickly come to enjoy this synth a LOT....thanks for prompting me to officially update my position on this lovely beast.

      I believe this is due more to less than well-optimized coding than because the quality of the sound demands it. In comparison, Vacuum Pro requires less than half the CPU of this synth, and sounds every bit as lush and phat, if not even more so.

      @JamesonNathanJones  2 года назад

      That’s what I paid for it last year, but there is the matter of Plug-in Alliance’s subscription (I think $99 for a year but you get access to a LOT of plugins). They send you vouchers occasionally that you can use on any plugin, including the Knifonium.

    • @EarlyMist
      @EarlyMist 2 года назад

      @@JamesonNathanJones thanks. So you have to be a subscriber to get it for $24.99? Thats a catch but in the long run maybe its a beneficial catch 😀

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  2 года назад +1

      I took that first year to buy the individual plugins I liked when they went on sale or they sent vouchers for them. Then you can cancel the subscription if you want. Might take a couple weeks/months for them to send it, but they run good deals to subscribers fairly often. Was worth it to me just to move away from Waves plugins entirely.
