As a fan, it hurts to lose like this. Kihei won the elite 8, but lost the round of 64 for his team.
In time, I’m sure I’d choose making the final four over advancing to the second round, but my goodness this stings for now.
To fellow uva fans, it’s ok to hurt. But it’s not ok to hate Kihei for this. He didn’t make a mistake because he’s a bad guy. At some point, all of us will make a really big mistake.
I know you won’t read this Kihei, but if you happen to, don’t let this moment bring down the rest of your life. Take accountability. Then go forward and live well. We’ll always have the championship, even if the program doesn’t come back from this for a while.
