Ritz Carlton in Truckee is a long trek (pretty one) to South Lake Tahoe. Not so much to Reno. Also consider Virginia City if you want to see 100+ year old cowboy town. The staff at the location are great but it is $$$. Consider using those points on European locations like Lucca in Italy. Next to Pisa, Florence, Milan etc. Old walled city. Two resorts nearby. One inside the walled city. The other a location for a wedding of a friend. Was perfect.
Buy more points to rent them out... You'd think if this was so lucrative, the corporation could buy their own ownership directly or through an affiliate company? They could rent out hundreds of rooms this way, which time-wise would be much more efficient than a single owner renting out 1 event weekend. Obviously I'm not picking on Marriott, they all do this. The pitch to us is status without an ongoing increase in MF.
That is dilemma for everyone. The advantage of the next level is you can two day 12 months out so renting weekends becomes possible. Right now I have to book 7 days. Not excited by it. You are correct that they do it like club Wyndham does but club Wyndham takes 40%
@@timesharetraveler From my understanding, you can really get burned with Club Wyndham if you booked a week, and someone only wants 1 or 2 days of it. Last minute cancellations can increase that likelihood. At least weekends would be easy to fill. What % commission does Marriott take? My 2025 Marriott goal is to get the Bonvoy Brilliant, and start staying at their properties again, especially with the MGM partnership. I've mostly avoided since 2018 from a bad experience, but I think if I stick to the higher end properties and have the Dedicated Elite Support line, we can avoid that. Maybe we'll take an occasional package at MVC, enjoy those properties and build up the Bonvoy points!

As I understand it you need to give MT 30 days notice of who will be checking in. That kinda makes re-renting a bust.
