BA Monarch is one of those decks you see and think "what on earth" then it spins your board, floats, spins your hand, pops your scales, adds like 5 cards and its impossible to OTK and it breaks boards super well. That being said, Joseph illustrated some of the reasons it wasn't the definitive best deck by a lot at the end of a format that wasn't completely solved but idc summon erebus float into purple dante is funny

Return of the monarchs extra deck locks you while face up. This is why the common play of the deck was to domain reveal aether summon Kuraz off of aether, and then do return cl2 kuraz cl1 to pop domain and return to draw 2 and search dark armed dragon since it had monarch stats for some reason. After that, you could overlay the Kuraz and aether into Beatrice since they were both 6.
Both these decks are super cool. Mixing 2 very dissimilar archetypes together and having them shore up each other's weaknesses is some truly peak deckbuilding. Though I do now really wanna see a Fire King, Kozmo deck in History of Jank later down the line. Really sucks that an archetype as cool as Kozmo just drops off the map after this with 0 new support even to this day
Agreed, considering just how much bloody support Noble Knights has (even if its via Infernoble Knights), its appaling that Kozomo hasn't recieved a single new card despite how insanely popular it was.
dont forget that fire king island has another eff that can special summon a fire king monster from hand if you control no monsters... it comes up very often when you draw the garunix to help with rank 3 plays
@@masterblitz195 funnily enough if he used that eff in turn 1 game 1, he could tribute for sliprider, eff sliprider target island, trigger island destroy sliprider, eff sliprider banish summon, kozmotown, add... basically he had full combo. edit: actually even better, since he had both fields in hand he could literally just tribute for landwalker, then trigger island by just activating or setting kozmotown and summon shuttle (or sliprider depending the route you are going for) from deck and get full combo from that
IIRC the delta shuttle was required for the turn 1 combo. The fire king island enables a combo that i think ended on infinity, dark lady, leviair, and maybe something else? This deck was very short lived, so I dont remember exactly how the combo goes, but that was the main draw of this deck, not just fire king field for 1 extra summon. Ultimately, people figured running several bad cards, for a situational going first combo wasnt the best idea
30:35 Barbar actually cannot activate here. After the hand size limit, no player can manually start a chain, including Barbar's optional effect. Only manditory effects can go off, after which players can chain cards. This actually comes up sometimes in Dragon Ruler format, where discarding a card for hand size limit (White Stone is the funniest) can allow you to chain super rejuv, and counts all of the dragon s you were forced to discard for hand size limit. Without the mandatory effect, this wouldn't be possible.
2016 and a bunch of the formats right before MR4 were the best yugioh ive ever played. BA, Dark Law, Monarchs, Blue eyes was so much fun. The mirror force retrains and even a simple mirror force going to battle phase was nuts. Decks were becoming decently fast paced but duels weren’t over after 1-2 turns like now (unless against monarch floodgates). It was just really good yugioh. DDD went ultra modern mega negate combo for like 2 weeks then died to MR4. Konami held themselves back, but blood was in the water, they had tasted the ultra mega negate combo deck, and they needed to bring the whole game up to speed to make it happen

Blue-Eyes still lacks 2 critical pieces; Alternative which was released in the 2016 movie pack. And Return of the Dragon Lords which was released in the Felgrand Structure deck. Both were released about 2 months after Shining Victories. Even with the support in Shining Victories the deck still sucked without those two cards.
Dark Planet is only good in Kozmo if you build your deck specifically around making it, also if you play the Fire King version, you don’t want draw cards

Monarch stormforth just allows you to tribute your opponents if you are going to tribute, it was only doing it in opponents turns with stuff like true draco, am I wrong about that?
Hey guys? Is Kozmo Forerunner a mandatory effect, or voluntary? Just trying to see if they missed a trigger that would realistically change the game 1. (If it’s mandatory, then Cimo would have had an extra turn to try and recover. His hand was pretty decent, there was probably a path to at least parity. Can’t say what the draw would have been though.

I've said this every single time Cimo plays Kozmo on the channel, but I'll say it again: the man does not know how to play the deck. When Kozmo Demise shows up later in this series, please have Joseph pilot the deck instead.
Example: Cimo had lethal at 38:50 if he had summoned Strawman first, brought back Sliprider. Banish Strawman, summon Soartrooper. Soartrooper, ss Strawman #2. Strawman #2 ss Landwalker. Slip+Delta = Cyber Dragon Nova. Joseph would have had to summon Prime Monarch #2 before Infinity gets summoned stay alive. SS Infinity, steal the Gaia Dragon. Banish Soar, summon Destroyer, pop Prime Monarch #1. Infinity beats over Prime Monarch #2, Destroyer and Landwalker attack for game.

not to mention cimo forgetting fire king iland has an effect when sent from field to gy that does trigger when you active another field spell

It is actually not relevant unless you have high avatar garunix, as the effect is "special summon one lvl 8 winged beast monster"
