    If we are using the manual etup CSS Selector option, in Google Ads, do we need to enter the # ?

    Hi Michelle, Great video! Can you pls help me to understand something. ECT is supposed to work around GDPR compliancy right? But assuming cookies are rejected by the client and this hashed data is still being sent, how does that comply to the GDPR rules? Much appreciated, J

      Hi Jay, I'll admit it's a bit complex, but effectively, ECT works in lieu of cookies and leverages consented first party data, so the user would have to have their settings set up to consent to sharing their first party data (not third party, which would be the cookie) and then that data is hashed back into Google where it remains anonymous. Since the data being used in consented first party, it's in compliance with GDPR. Articles on this are fairly few and far between, so that's about as good as it gets, I'm afraid.

      @@PaidMediaPros Thank you Michelle for taking the time to reply. That is bar far the best answer I've had to the question. First vs third party data makes complete sense. It doesn't matter how that FPD is sent during that user session, so long as you're not downloading a cookie to observe behaviour there after. I'm re-writing some policies so excuse me for thinking out loud :) Much appreciated! You have a sub :)

    This Google Ads interface is now redundant. Enhanced conversions is no longer attached to each conversion imported from GA4. The conversion source has also changed from Website to Website (Google Analytics (GA4)). It is a global setting under Conversions -> Settings. There is nowhere I can find where a Conversion ID to place in the GTM Conversion Tag? 2 options 1.Enhanced conversions for leads and 2. Enhanced conversions. Can you please update you video?

    Is setting up enhanced conversion manually through GTM enough to start calculating the conversions?
    I saw the other video implemented the GTM and has an extra step of importing data in Google Ads through Google Sheets, and we need to update the user data regularly on the Google Sheets as well.
    I'm confused on what's the completed steps.

      Hi there, that's needed to track offline conversions. These are needed mostly for leads data where a CRM integration is not possible.

      You will have better attribution, and Google will have more visibility on which user converted, and it can match it with what ad drove that click. This, in turn, will help the bidding strategy to optimize your campaigns better.

    Do you know if it's possible to use enhanced conversions with GA4 now? Last year they said it was on their roadmap, but I can't find any documentation.

    So essentially, we need a separate thank you page for each conversion type, like a different thank you page for e-books/signups/purchases.
    Further, we need to explicitly have the name, email, phone number, or address displayed on that page so that our tracking setup (GTM, gTag or API) can pull it all together, hash it and send it back to Google.

      That’s the ideal scenario. It’s just easier to track.

    Hello, thanks for the video.
    I tried to set up enhanced conversions for purchases using Google Tag Manager and CSS selector, but when I go to test the purchase via Preview (GTM), instead of email and phone number (these are the data I want to track) it says "null" - as if the fields during the purchase were not fulfilled.
    In Google Ads, when I go to the Purchase conversion - Diagnostics - it says Recording enhanced conversions, but I don't see any data.
    Do you perhaps know what this is about and what I need to do in order to start getting the necessary data about purchases (email and phone number)?
    (Cookies on the web before the test purchase are accepted.)

    Well explained!! Thanks. Could you tell me an examplo of phone number format (USA) i don't find it in the documentation, It's just said "User phone number. The tag will remove symbols and dashes, but the number must contain country code." Thanks!

      Hi Rox, if I'm understanding your question correctly, I believe you'll need to talk to your website developer to determine which portions of your site code will retain the user info that will match to each field. In some cases, your pages might not actually have that info in them already, so you may need to change the code on your thank you pages pages to retain the user info so they can be matched in the first place. Hope that helps!
