- The Makaha Sons, Whitter College 01-19-2013 Singing "Lahainaluna" With Special Guest Takiyah Wilkes, Called on stage to Dance Hula... From the Pasadena Hula Roses, And Eric Lee, On the Bass.
After the terrible fire, I went online to find this song to share with my Mainland friends. I didn't expect to break out in tears, but in a good way. Thank you for posting this video.
ONLY 60 years ago did I learn this song in a club in (really-old-town-) Lahaina. My friend Frank Montiliano , a vocalist was performing there; so I drove down from Kaanapali to hear him. The lyrics have never left me, especially now with that precious place being hurt in so many ways.
Yet the Spirit of Lahaina can never be extinguished, its Soul never crushed.
Many Mahalos to Kui Lee for this beautiful Island song. Beautiful Lady and graceful Hula - In jeans no less.
Beautiful song and dancer! Mahalo for sharing!🙏
