This ride is so underrated. It has good hills, is a classic woodie, and the operators are always so entertaining. Please ride this ride if you go. It hurts, but it's a damn good time

this ride fakes you out because at first glance you don't expect it to be as intense as it is.

This ride murdered my back
I rode this ungodly painful coaster this week. I love woodies but this one was just plain awful. Add this to Invadr which I did the same week and you can see why I had so many bruises.
I went on this ride 3 times. You feel a really big gravity push on you.

Rode this 3 times today. It was my first time going to kings dominion in a long time. Also my first time riding the Grizzly, it was Terrifying at first bc my friend tricked me into riding it and said the ride didn't even go that fast and didn't have any hills, I nearly passed out... Then I rode it two more times later on. Pretty fun! ^-^

the bush beast in aus wonderland was based on it....its pretty much the same bar missing the tunnel section and having a higher first drop.

A good woody is the best coaster you could ride imo.
Yeah ok metals have loops and corks, but woods can do that if they wanted too.....
Woods just feel more dangerous and thrilling imo......

you gotta know how to ride it right so it doesnt hurt you. for example hold don’t hold on to the lap thing hold onto the thing in front of you. it makes a major difference :)

It's so rough
This ride is seriously underrated, I don't understand how it's in some people's worst coasters lists. It's not overly rough and it has some pretty good airtime. Of course I think IK why it's so low on peoples lists and it's because they don't know how ride wooden coasters with PTC trains (here's a tip, sit in the front of the car and keep your back off the seat back)

When I was little my mom never let me ride this ride. She said it’s going to break someday, it’s as old as her😂. All these years I’ve followed the same routine. I’m 34 now, I’m riding it this year for sure. Sorry mom

When Kings Dominion is mentioned, this is the ride that should *IMMEDIATELY* come to mind. I know that one day, Grizzly will retire, and when it does, it needs to get a *HUGE* send-off. Almost 40 years this ride has been in operation, whenever it retires, it better get the respect it deserves.

this ride is such a hidden gem seriously it’s so surprisingly intense and scary at night
I feel like they should redo it. Not with inversions and stuff but just retract it, making the lift hill alot faster, and make it maybe 10-30 feet taller.
This way the ride will be much smoother and the pacing would be better. Theres no reason that turn around on the second hill should be that slow.

This looks like the exact same layout as the (now demolished) Bush Beast at Australia's Wonderland. I spent a lot of time on the Bush Beast and this video brought back some very happy memories. Thank you for posting

Just putting this into context for anyone who comments on this. This person was referring to the comments "first, second and third." not anything else.
Used to ride this with my parents as a kid. Been there for a long time. It was rough back when I used to ride it, that's what I liked about it. That, and when you go into the first tunnel it feels like you're going to hit your head.
Grizzly is better than Hurler in my opinion

This is the best ride at Kings Dominion. It's a tradition for my nephews and I to ride the Grizzly as soon as we get in the park.
pyrocus lmao the best ride really???! It’s a pretty terrible and rough ride. I get that some people seem to enjoy that and like the nostalgia of old wooden rollercoasters but there’s nothing likable about exiting the ride half shaken to death, with concussions and body parts in the wrong places lol. Both my kids bumped their heads while on it, I bumped my head on my seat partner’s head, my top and bra straps slid down lol. It’s a very uncomfortable, painful and I enjoyable ride. Most definitely NOT the best at Kings Dominion 😂😂 Best ride hands down is twisted timbers.

I rode this on a school trip and my friend told me it was a ride for kids. It felt like a bodybuilder repeatedly punching me in the stomach.

KookiMonster No they've been doing that for years. And the woman that fell off the New Texas Giant fell off because her lap bar unlocked and it opened. It had nothing to do with the seat belt. A loose seat belt wouldn't hurt anything

I was there 2 weeks ago and didn't even ride it this is the only ride that I haven't rode
the only thing about roller coasters are the drops bcuz im really really skinny so i feel like im boutta fall off

I’ve been on this ride last year and I got the worst headache ever I got sick because it was bumpy and I went to the doctors and it said it’s probably because of this ride and I have never rode this ride again
