Same happens in my country. In the 90's, mainstream hard rock/metal bands had to include many slow rock ballads in their albums to made them known & played on radio. Labels said that "listeners wont listen to heavy rock songs." Even most bands had to tone down their heavy songs, too...if they're originally influenced by metal bands like Helloween, Iron Maiden etc, when they made albums, their heavy songs sounded lighter & glam-sounded 😅. Even worse, their images changed to pop-looking & had to cut their hair short in album photoshoot. But thats the past. Now, our rock bands can dress whatever they want. Its more loose now. 👍🏻
