This is sick. my question will probably seem stupid but how can you tell the limit of rotation of each component to make the horse seem like advancing in a proper way? .. is there a logic attached to it?
we didn't had correct data since the mechanism isn't mentioned anywhere. This is Lu Ban Carriage Mechanism. You can try searching for the same. We used an image to give correct ratios to the length of arms.
In SolidWorks motion analysis You can't just show it in a proper way until you have high end system. I could have shown that too but it would have taken me several hours and low consistency of results.. For more details about this mechanism search Google for Lu Ban Horse Carriage Mechanism.

Thanks!!
Yea this reminds me of Theo Jansen work too..
I'll definitely look it up thanks !
Maybe offset the mechanisms on either side 90 degrees so it looks a little more organic?

How did u make the sutyd for Solidworks Motion? The parts are fixed and they dont move with each other.
Compliments
Do you have the dimentions of the linkages? or some theory behind it
Have you got dimensions?
The difference b/w this & Theo Jansen is of about 2000 yrs.. :P :P Lu Ban used it in a different age.
Do you have dimensions??
I am sorry, I don't have any dimension. I used an image. Please check this cyberneticzoo.com/walking-machines/480-bc-wooden-horse-carriage-lu-ban/
Interesting but incorrect imho
