I would love to see wands made from wood and resin with the nebula effect - could be very cool to see - great for the Harry Potter fans out there that want a wand with a bit of pizazz to them!
I have two color resins when I do it. I use a pure black resin and a green/ purple colorshift in another cup. I start by pouring some of the black and then pour in the colorshift. It gives it a much more space like appearance and when you hold it up to light, it becomes even cooler.
Another great video Zak. I like the fact you share how you make you superb blanks and not just show the finished article without any explanation of the process involved to achieve the end result. Thanks once again and please keep them coming.
For those like me, crafting on a very tight budget, you can get holo/colour shifting powders in the nail polish/makeup section of drug stores. (I live in Germany, and got some at dm and at Tedi Discount, marketed as chrome effect nail powders. The ones from Tedi Discount come in a set of 2, blue-ish purple and blue-ish green, for €3. The ones I got from dm are from Carice in a set of 3 for around €7.95. The holo nail powder is (imho) rubbish for nail effects (lol) but awesome for crafting. The colourshift powder (blue/purple) is awesome for both, and the chrome is WOW. Seriously messy tho, which is why I think it's easier to use for crafting than nail art.) Definitely want to try this out with the (also messy) superfine glitter and the resin kit I recently bought and some pendant moulds.
You cant find holo like that in random drug stores here in the states. That kind of stuff is online its called Holographic Flakes . They have all kinds of other stuff and YES it is awesome for nail effects!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nail art IS crafting ....just on a small scale, doesnt make it any less ..Im so offended lololol
Beautiful! I love interference powder. But my absolute fav brand Colorarte/OR Primary Elements. Yes it's a bit more expensive but well worth it. Highly pigmented. The shimmer is amazing from the interference powder nothing compares! Thanks for sharing p.s. with you having a wood turning channel that does so many resin and wood projects. I would be willing to bet if you reached out to them they would send you one of their kits at no charge
I like the things you been doing. I've been thinking a lot of trying casting myself. I'll be ordering your book soon. Thanks for showing the things that your doing.
How fun! Glad to find you.. Thanks for sharing.. Resin Casting a new love for me.. I played around over canvas a few years back then created a metal and wood art piece that got me hooked! working on jewelry at this moment but i want to move into larger artistic pieces.. I really appreciate your guidance and sharing
Gorgeous work! I searched for a while before I found you and I'm SO happy I persevered. I'll be adding this effect to the wood/resin pendants I already craft. Many thanks.
Secondly would you consider doing close ups of your final pieces next time? They're beautiful! I'd love to see the ones that came out of the molds as well!
Great video Zac! I just ordered the powder. I’m going to put it into one of my bowls using Liquid Diamonds. I think it’s going to look great in the rim.
@@ZacHiggins I will let you know when I put a video up with the powder I bought from you. It might be a lidded box or a bowl 🤔🤔🤔🤔. Don't know yet.🤣🤣🤣. Thanks again for your videos.
That is certainly one way to do it, however, in this video he used a pressure chamber which completely removes all air, thus removing 100% of the bubbles. The torch or a heat gun are good for large projects.

That pen is perfect for me. I'm going to order the powder and dust. What was used for the wood and where can I acquire (note: I'm new to casting and turning). And a new fan to your channel
Those are some great looking blanks. One of the secrete ingredients I use for my nebula blanks is the pink/gold pearlex powered from Jacquard. It kinda looks like a cloud in a nebula.
Wow...cool Zac! Thank you! I think i would try a night scene in paint and the use the resin to cover the sky portion. Try and get the northern light feeling! Brilliant!
Thanks Danial! I hear ya on the cost, I've seen a few castings with opals in them, cool but it sounds expensive. I'd be too worried something might go wrong with the casting
Hope it's helpful brotherI No worries on the streams, I've canceled the Twitch streams for the rest of the year. Just totally bogged down with orders right now as well as being out of town a lot, so I figured it was best to just cancel them rather than be spotty with the schedule. Woooooooooooaaaah 👍 😆 👌 Looks absolutely stunning, I've only seen it once before! I've searched but can't find the video they prepared the mixture very much like yours but they added a 'Fairy Dust'... still glittered but the dust was really fine! I try and copy what Zac Higgins does ! LOL I haven't actually tried it yet, but I see I should wait a bit before pouring my glitter filled resin so it doesn't settle to the bottom.
I can't wait to see some cool stuff you make Doug, hope this technique can help out a bit. It does help a bit to wait til the resin gels up a bit, locks everything in place and can add some cool effects too
I'll pop you a sneak peak on messenger , one project is up already and yup most of the glitter settled, but all was not lost I still made something out of it.

To get rid of bubbles hit it with a butane torch after pouring .
