Regarding the reaction of the French people when you told them that a relative fought in WWII. Many (American) Cementries, at least in the Netherlands, have adopted graves. Which means that locals make sure the grave stay in good condition. That they are taken care of. This to give them respect for the sacrifices they gave to liberate Europe from Nazi-Germany. We own them our gratitude. This is for sure in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
I'm loving this trip, so different then we used to see on the internet, and so rich in history as well, i've always heard about the D Day and the movies, but never the real thing
Hey guys! I watched Monte Saint Michel and the first part of the Normandy video and I was stunned by your videos! Loved the tips and the video shots! Just a question. How long was this whole Normandy itinerary? Would you do do something different or stayed longer in some of these places? TIA
We stayed at an Airbnb just 10 minutes outside of Omaha Beach for 3 nights. I think that was a good amount of time to see some things and make the trip to Mont Saint Michele, and one night to check out Bayeaux. That being said, There was more to see that we didn't have time for. So it depends on how interested you are in the area. We probably could have benefited from staying one more night. Just Omaha and Utah beach have a ton to see and lots of museums, so you could spend a few days just doing those stops
I was there last year on a tour , the french people are so lovely . Pegasus bridge is cool , and the museum is first class .Brits got in first . Omaha beach is so moving , it really bought it all home . Amazing cemetary , so well kept (actually they all are ) We could never have done it without the U.S. Regards .

The dummy hanging off the church is a memorial to a real American paratrooper that got snagged up there. He played dead and survived.
