It's a good value for money vehicle. The only concern now is its reliability & ease of maintenance in Philippine setting. Will probably wait for atleast a year for a clearer owners feedback before deciding.
Yup this is true like sure in other countries its doing well but doesn't mean it would be the same here. I'd also probably wait for a dealership to open near me before going for it.
I suggest you also consider the absence of spare tire. Its a safety issue esp if you're with your love ones. And its impact on the car once to add it later. It's actually none of my business but I just thought of doing something good for someone. Hope you don't mind.
@@ColstanYou actually have a good point sir. I own a Nissan Kicks e-power, my mistake was buying a surplus donut type spare tire. I should've bought a full size spare tire from the dealership. Anyways, i don't bring my donut type spare tire during city driving. I inted to bring it only during out of town trips.

@@thetipplingaskal SL6 owner here, just need to do bust a myth for you! :) It's not the same as the nissan kicks (a series hybrid)- the SL6 DM-i tech is where Engine can propel the wheels albeit at higher speeds only or where it is most efficient. One situation where EV and Motor works together is.... If i'm at EV Mode, i only get around 160HP, but i reached 215HP in HEV mode and Sport driving mode where the Engine and Electric Motor works together.
In the BYD Sealion 6, the gasoline engine can engage to charge the battery when the state of charge (SOC) is low, in addition to regenerative braking, which recaptures energy during braking to recharge the battery. The SOC refers to the battery's current charge level, usually displayed as a percentage, and it determines when the system switches between electric-only driving and hybrid mode to optimize efficiency.
it's a regenerative ev. so simply put, the internal combustion engine can regenerate your battery. how much you regenerate depends on driving habits na plus your preferred regen settings sa system ng sealion 6
Liar! Liar! Liar! There's no way you're 5'9"! BYD sealion 6 height is about 5.47 feet. @3:12 frame, you stand almost the same height of the BYD minus your shoe. hahaha. 😀 You are more likely 5'5" only 😀
Blimey, were you being paid for every mention of the car's name? If so, you have done a sterling job here buddy. Must have spent at least 14 of the 19 minutes in this video mentioning 'BYD Sealion 6'.
Resale value is an issue for EVERY car in this transition period. When do you want to realize it, 3, 5, 10, 20 years? How well do you think an ICE will sell in a decade, and what legacy automakers will survive until then? Based on recent reports, Nissan might not survive the next two years, and all German automakers are in a deep crisis.
well if you wanna think about resale value, think about the value you'll save on gas haha you might not even need gas if house to work commute ka lang 100km should be more than enough tapos charge nalang sa bahay if you have a grounded outlet
Resale value is only for those who are already thinking of selling the car even before it reaches 3 years of ownership. If you enjoyed your vehicle that much for the duration that you had and used it, why would you bother about how much it will sell after 20 years? Besides, resale value can be determined by factors such as vehicle condition and history of repairs and maintenances. If for the past 5 years, there was no history of mechanical failure or accidents, and the crucial parts of the vehicle were never touched by non-certified car manufacturer technicians, I'm sure it can very well hold more than 70% of its original value. On the other hand, do you think a Toyota Veloz/Avanza with major recalls still deserve to cost even at least 50% of its original price after 5 years? That's up for you to decide.
Resale value will depend on the cost of the battery in the future. An ICE relies on fuel. While fuel prices change over time, it is readily available. Batteries have a limited number of charges before they start deteriorating and die. Once they die, the cost of replacing them is quite prohibitive, like over half the price of a brand new car. If EV and HEV/PHEV battery prices don't go down in the near future, you will be stuck with an expensive paper weight unless you manage to pass that off to some unlucky buyer who will end up with that paper weight. The batteries of BYD are under warranty for 8 years and they should hopefully go on for a few more years after that but, buyer beware.
For me, no spare tire is a deal breaker. It's a SAFETY issue. Imagine if you accidentally got a flat tire. What do you expect? Run flat? Or worst if going out of town where running over a nail or screw , whatever. I think it's a design glitch of BYD but they just wanna recover their cost for now and address it later with another design. That is typical mainlander business mindset, lack of centricity on customers because all they think of is profit , unlike the Japanese typically of course. These are the issues that make me hesitate to get one. You should think about it too before jumping into the bandwagon. Not unless of course you plan to bring a spare tire in your backseat. In which case the car now becomes heavier and there you go.
I personally don’t think the lack of a spare tire is a deal breaker. It’s an easy fix-just buy a donut or spare tire and keep it in the trunk for peace of mind on out-of-town trips. Many modern cars don’t come with full-size spares anymore, so it’s becoming a common solution.
Wow, such a nifty feature! This donut-type spare tire can definitely get me out of trouble when I get flat tire on the expressway, carrying 5 people + baggages, and run at highway speeds because this donut spare tire can definitely handle that! Right?! So brilliant mind! 🤓
@troy5568 Ahh, that explains a lot, doesn't it? PUP, and probably can't even get a loan, so all you've got left is sarcasm and complaints about cars you can't afford. Struggling with a Mirage, and yet dreaming of more? Hahaha, keep dreaming.
@@troy5568 Francis Troy Fabrigas, you completely missed where I mentioned you can use either a donut or a spare tire. You're a PUP student who probably can’t afford much, and here you are complaining about spare tires when even owners of pricier cars like the CRV Hybrid, which don’t come with a spare, are perfectly happy. Maybe focus more on what’s within your budget instead of fussing over features in cars way out of your price range.
@@troy5568 Did you only hear 'donut tire' and decide to ignore the 'or spare tire' part? Maybe it's tough to focus on the details when you're a PUP student stretching every cent. It's simple: even models like the CRV Hybrid come without a spare. Yet, you're making a scene about the Sealion's tire options. Maybe worry less about criticizing car features that are way out of your budget.

the battery is exposed below. Does water from the road or flood affect its performance?
Nice watch, boss :) more expensive than the car you're testing! Can't wait to see your next review wearing another watch from your collection, sir!
When you say sealion is that flood proof?
Can the battery be charged by the engine? Does it rely on charger?
can be plugged in to charge up to 100km range. When its low battery, the engine runs to propel the car and/or charge the battery.
I charge full and get full tank at least once a month

light. 70%+ VLT. Any lower and you won't see anything (except headlamps) behind at night.
