Our crew can not be stopped.
recap of ESP clinic @ NAMM

*Bay Area Backstage* World Exclusive!!!
I went to the annual NAMM show in Anaheim, California as a part of the Bay Area Backstage crew, and I had such an awesome time there on Saturday (January 19th)-- besides seeing many talented musicians walking around, I got to watch a very exclusive "clinic" at the ESP booth that featured a jam with Alexi and George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), and a jam with Alexi and Janne. Although I didn't get to see much of the Alexi/Lynch jam (we walked into the ESP room at the very end of their performance), I did see the entire Alexi/Janne jam alongside a handful of other people...
As the crew was setting up the stage area for Alexi and Janne's clinic, Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God) made a quick appearance in the ESP room before ducking backstage (I thought that he was going to jump on a mic while Alexi and Janne played, but he never did unfortunately). Some of the guys from Armored Saint (Phil and Gonzo Sandoval) were also in the crowd to watch the clinic, so I talked to them for a few minutes as the tech guys were setting up the equipment...During the sound-check, someone played the beginning of Motley Crue's "Too Young To Fall In Love" (like on Stockholm Knockout Live's "Downfall"), but I'm not sure if it was Alexi or not (there was a curtain in front of the stage before Alexi and Janne started).
But once Alexi and Janne came out, the curtain was pulled aside so that the shred-fest could begin-- I don't remember all the details of everything that was played, but I do know that an instrumental "Tie My Rope" and "Sioux City Sarsaparilla" (with added keys) were performed (Alexi used his custom black guitar with pink pinstripes during the jam). It was awesome to watch Janne and Alexi play together in such a small space-- the stage was set up in a corner of the ESP room, and I was probably a good 10 feet away from them (there wasn't any barrier separating the fans from them either, besides the frustrated security guard that acted as a human barricade). I felt like I was watching a garage band perform to their closest friends-- it was a very intimate and amazing performance that only a few people got to see, and I'm glad that I was one of them. R.I.P Alexi.. What a guitar hero, composer, front man and real rock star who is there for his fans. Dedicated his whole life to music, crafted his own sound in metal and influenced the metal music scene and endless amount of guitarists/musicians big time. Influenced me a lot as well. Got to meet him in Finland the same year as this video was shot, I was just a kid, it was a dream come true for me back then. And still pushes me to train guitar. Gotta upload some COB solo covers at some point.. Take care everybody!
0:01: Show/clip Intro(Korn's System & another before)
1:06: Tie My Rope
5:19: Sioux City Sarsaparilla(Alexi did for videogame Guitar Heroes' album)
9:09: Rammstein's song Tier
alexi has the smoothest style and technique i've ever seen. his riffs are awesome.

Into hot-rodded Marshall JCM800 Kerry King. Too bad that the recording quality is so low
We had a REALLY good NAMM Show, in no small part thanks to Alexi, Janne, and George Lynch, who all did some freakin awesome performances on our little stage. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the show. :)
thank you SO MUCH for posting
I've achieved his sound with my vox tonelab and my fender loaded with EMG's... His style however, is unachievable... A true guitar god in my eyes

Sioux City Sarsaparilla by Alexi Laiho. It's on the album "Guitar Heroes" from 2007.

1. Tie My Rope by Children of Bodom
2. Sioux City Sarsaparilla by Alexi Laiho
3. Tier by Rammstein
Rest in peace Alexi.
Loving how progressive this is, the song changes the whole time & it's so technical.
song from 9:00 is bodoms gtake on rammsteins 'tier' - no official recording
i've never seen him perform sioux city live, great!
Yeah! Thats exactly what I thought!
he not only use emg.. he use pickup booster.. thats what make his sound better than a lot of guitarist and the way he equalize the marshal pre amp :P
I just love that Tie My Rope riff at 03:10 ->
I guess this is the new version of Tie My Rope! Nicee!

That's kind of the point of it.. They created that sound to make it the "CoB-sound"
That was the thing that made me listen to em, and i love their music

How do you explain hes able to switch sounds with the x5 ? Usually, its impossible when using a midi device..
how is the last song called? its cool O.O
@qdsqd he's telling the sound technician to turn down something, im not 100% sure what it is, im guessing its the gain cause janne mentions feedback.
the second is "Sioux City Sarsaparilla" (written by Alexi) from finnish shred album called "Guitar Heroes"
what's the name of the song tht he's playing the solo at 8:10, i love that solo and idk which song its in
Technical genius..
How is it humanly possible to rock this fucking hard?
You can also see a Krank Revolution head in the COBTV vids.
I like when janne shreds his solo at 8:50 like completelly casually : D
ALEXI LAIHO RULES!!!
Hey is that in Drop C?
Listen to the new album (it may or may not be available on certain torrent sites) A lot of the solos on it are very reminiscent of old Alexi. I agree tho, I liked his playing and writing much more on the early albums.
I'm sorry guys...but what's the song that they start play at 9:10??
11:34 ....... harmonic with your toung you're truly a badass ha
I can't fuckin' wait for Blooddrunk, fuck!
9:09 is the cover of Die Krupps The Dawning of The Doom. Rammstein's Tier is the slow ass version

The last song is Tier from Rammstein.

Well he lives in finland. I'm sure he's not going to have his amp shipped to cali just for one day. He's just using whatever is available to him. I don't know what he normally uses, though, I thought VHT.
