The actors’ performances were great, but I still think this scene is overrated. Snape didn’t actually care about Harry at all, but was only helping him because he still loved Lily. It would have been better if he had gotten over Lily, but had actually grown to care about Harry in some way. However, since Harry resembled James too much, that wasn’t going to happen.

I miss him everyday. The world lost an incredible actor. How different things might have been if Severus and Lily had been together. He loved her deep within his soul. 😢
Lily and Severus could NOT have ever been together without Tom Riddles' total victory. Snape's destiny was to be the double agent providing the key Intel on Voldemort. Lily's was to bring Harry into the world. The slightest hint of any bond between those two and Voldemort would have twigged to Harry's role as the unintentional horcrux. The part about Harry having to DIE, sojourn in the afterlife, and rise again is cut-and-pasted from a much older story. The only part missing is the messenger angel hitting James upside the head with a 2x4 and telling him that it's his JOB to marry the immaculate Lily 😮 ! It's not Rowling's fault that there are only a few basic story plots in all of human history 😂 !
Severus loved Lily,.. he only pretended to hate Harry on Albus Dumbledores plan to fool all the followers of Voldemort, so he could stay close by and protect Harry. Every time Severus looked at Harry, he was reminded of his lost love, .. Harry has Lilys eyes 👀
Thats not true he actually hated harry because he reminded her of james, but he also protected him because his eyes reminded him of lily, the movies twisted Dumbledore word and made him look like a vilain here and snape some kind of hero but he was not
Everything about Harry reminded Snape about James and the anger, as mentioned by Dumbledore in the books, that his hatred for James spilled over on Harry. But he also protected Harry in certain circumstances that he could have easy let Harry die from or get seriously hurt. I don't think you would have had an issue with Harry being kicked out of school so that it would be harder for the death eaters to locate Harry and Harry was not a wizard. But once Dumbledore fully revealed his plans to Snape was when Snape took up his responsibility to protect Harry, even at the cost of his life became fixed in his heart. Oh sorry, professor Snape. 😁

This scene, I love this scene. For Dumbledore gives Snape a moment, an opportunity, one shot to show what he really is, and he doesn't hesitate and he shows the purest and most unfiltered version of himself. Even Dumbledore was stunned by his devotion

Alan Rickman absolutely killed it every time Snape was on screen. He should have won so many awards for those movies
Not too big, just some tuna and egg rolls. Should be done in an hour or so.
This scene made me cry. The fact Snape was hard on Harry just help him and how he loved Lily.
I also cryed😢
I am still crying
Snape was evil. He bullied Neville, Hermione and Harry. He was twisted. Even his love for Lily was a lie. He wouldn't live for her sake, until she was dead.
@AMAubert yeah people really seem to love Snape even though he would bully children and he basically joined wizard equivalent of the KKK when he left Hogwarts, I mean his entire motivation for being good was an unhealthy obsession for a girl he had a crush on in school
@@BurkeanMama the movies portray Snape as a kind of grey character but those who read the book know how he really was.
The fact that Snape can cast Perfect Patronus so relaxed without screaming his lungs out like others shows how skilled he is

Honestly, I think Snape has the saddest story out of all of the characters in the Harry Potter universe.
hogwarts legacy trying to steal the second place behind snape with the sebastian story for sure. that’s the most tragic thing i’ve seen in ages
It is the saddest story.
Very much yes...
Agree
Yup 😢
Love how Alan performs this scene w/o yelling or screaming, not even the spell. Yet it's all more powerful for it. His broken heart bleeds yet again. His mentor fails him yet again. Harry, for whom he's sacrificed so much, must face death yet again. His (Sev's) feelings matter to no one. You can feel his despair. Beautiful performance from a beautiful actor. Thank you, Alan. RIP. You will be forever missed.
He was the only one to pull it off. A full contradiction but one love frfr
Sev? You're so cool
That “Always” hits right deep in the soul. It’s how I feel about mine. My kids. No other words necessary. Always.
Your comment made me tear up. As a mom myself, I relate so so much.
I’m right there with you. And that was the emotion they were going for… and they definitely got to me. I still tear up when I see this scene.
@@mhm8922 man snapes entire character arc is my favorite of the series. A man so devoted to a woman he’s willing to give his life protecting her child that’s not even his. But he loves her so much that by extension he loves her son and took it all the way. And then when he was pressed about it he stood with his feelings and gave a very simple yet powerful response…. Snape was the best character there was. He messed up in bad circumstances and came back with his true soul to serve good. All while being a heartbroken and bullied kid. He was the only one other than dumbledore that I think stood a chance in a fight with Voldemort
The way snape confessed his never ending one sided love was heart reaching ❤😭 the way he answered always when Dumbledore said this long
Hold on now. Lilly loved Snape. He was her first friend, he took her under his wing. Came to her rescue and showed her kindness when her sister was calling her a freak. He understood her. They just drifted apart. Lilly might not have been in love with him but love was deffo not one sided.
@@jamahlscarlett8787At one point I also wondered whether Lily had romantic feelings for him or not....but it was snape's one sided love only!!! Snape is the true hero of the entire story

@olandoblen5791 His part in Dumbledores plan to defeat Voldemort required him to live his entire life as the villain everyone hated in order to convince Voldemort and his allies he could be trusted. Then after all that he was the one who had to kill Dumbledore (again to convince Voldemort he was truly loyal) who he loved and admired. His entire life was a tragedy all to fulfill his role to defeat Voldemort and thus save humanity.
The fact that Death Eater Snape could produce an Expecto Patronum charm says a lot about how much kind feelings he had for Lily despite all the darkness he had to go through
He pretended to be a death eater.. he was very brave
He just summarize his feelings and emotions in just one word " Always" 💕
Alan Rickman (Snape) was dying of cancer during the last movie or two, and he knew how long he was going to live. He sacrificed time with family for us to watch these movies. Amazing ❤
unimaginable if he would have been replaced in the end. these final scenes with him were some of the most emotional scenes of the entire series.
@mathiastrostdorf5638 absolutely! I haven't watched them again since I learned about him making the movies knowing those were his last days. I'll probably cry my eyes out when I do! What sacrifice, what a legend. He must have loved the Harry Potter franchise a great deal! May he rest in peace
Alan Rickman died because of complications of pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with terminal PC back in 2015 long after the last Harry Potter movie was filmed and released. What you're referring to might be his 2005 prostate cancer diagnosis, but he didn't sacrifice time with his family, because he underwent a surgery and made a full recovery and live for another 11 years.

This scene makes me cry EVERY TIME! it’s when I finally realized Snape was on Harry’s side the whole time. Blew my mind as a teenager. ❤❤❤❤Rest in power, Alan.
It hits differently in the books when Snape makes it clear he does still hate Harry. But the fact that he is Lily's son is all he needed to protect him this whole time.
@@lopachillaenough like Lily to care for him, but enough like James to dislike him.

he loved harry, and he despised james. that’s why his character is so emotionally complicated. he gets mad at harry just like a father would but harry will never treat him with respect like he would his own father. its heartwrenching.

Seriously, this scene had broken me like I can’t even describe it! The way Snape is talking along with the melancholic music theme, it is so beautifully perfect!

But he also protected Harry in certain circumstances that he could have easy let Harry die from or get seriously hurt.
I don't think you would have had an issue with Harry being kicked out of school so that it would be harder for the death eaters to locate Harry and Harry was not a wizard.
