I always know where to come when I need to identify what's wrong on my Grizzly, absolutely phenomenal videos for instruction and visual understanding of the process. Thank you so much for the work you do.
Not sure if y'all are still responding to these older videos but worth a shot. I'm replacing my stator gasket for the 3rd time due to it leaking. A steady drip while it sits in the garage. All bolts are tight. One was a gasket from y'all and another from RMStator. No idea what I'm doing wrong
another very well done video, complete, correct, clear language, good lighting, steady camera, no music playing in the background. Very professional ! Thankyou for posting, keep up the great work !
Great video big man. Always remember to check and clean the magnetic before putting a new stator coil on because it attracts metal shavings in the engine and that will sometimes destroy a new stator. Just saying from experience.
Definitely a helpful video!, helped me diagnose the ignition problems on my bayou 300, the stator isn't putting out enough ac volts to fully power the ignition system on it, gotta love those bayou 300s, always filled with problems
Thank you soooo much John. One of the best produced videos I've had the pleasure to watch. I'm replacing my stator this Friday and after watching this video I have no worries about doing the job! Thank u!!!
6.27.20. I like to use a little bit of silicone grease or silicone oil ever so slightly on each side of the paper gasket before I install it. If you ever have to pull the cover off again it won’t stick on either side, thus making the job go much quicker with less cleanup.
Love your videos. They've helped so many times. I have an issue I believe. I have a 2004 can am 650 and I have oil inside of the stator cover. Is that normal is it supposed to be dry inside? I've looked around everywhere and can't get a straight answer. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for the videos! I did the static test between 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, and got the right resistance value. But when I do the 1-2-3 to ground I dont have Open Line but 1,50 Ohm instead. What does it mean when you get values doing the Ground test? Damaged stator or bad connection somewhere? Thanks a lot
I was also wondering this as well. Surly he must be aware that they updated the stator cover with an oil cooling line for the stator, I would assume so anyway. My stator recently burnt out on my 07 Grizzly. I was planning on getting the updated cover, but after watching the video, I'm wondering if he just doesn't find it necessary or what.
Awesome video! The three black wires that go to my regulator/ rectifier were chewed up by a dog and I’ve got to solder them back to the plug. Does it matter which one goes where? Or are they all the same? I’m guessing two are negative and the other is either positive or a ground?
I'm just a little confused about testing ac. 1-2 it's good because it was jumping around 24-25 volts. 2-3 test wasn't doing but 4-5 volts. So 2 was good because when tested with 1 it was nominal. Correct? Then testing it 1-3 was bad because it was 4-5 volts and not the 24-25 volts. So, they should all test between 24-25? I guess that's my question. Ty
I'm doing the test on mine and it's grounded on every wire... When I do the voltage test I get 5.5v 1-2, 19.2 1-3, and 16.8v 2-3. I get 15+ volts right off the regulator but it does not give that to the battery... thoughts? TIA
This would be a great video. But I cannot even start my 2017 grizzly. I'm getting code 12, no start at all. Tried the brake press start. Started for 2 seconds then died. Will not stay on. I have a new starter relay coming. I doubt that's it. The starter tested functional on the bench. Now, I'm leaning towards the crankshaft sensor position . Which I'm told is located attached to the stator.
When I get the quad running and unplug the stator at the regulator/rectifier to test the voltage, the quad turns off. Should this happen? I suspect a bad stator
I noticed that you didn't opt for the updated stator cover with the attached oil cooling line. Based on my understanding, they made this change on 2009 and up models for stator cooling purposes. I have a low mile/hour 07 Grizzly. The stator recently went bad and I'm trying to decide if I should spend the extra money for the updated stator cover. I'm guessing you would suggest that I go with the new cover, if for no other reason but being sound professional advice.
To answer my own question, for the sake of future readers. The answer is yes! If you have a 07-08 Grizzly 700 with a burnt out stator, and haven't already upgraded to the revised stator side cover, I would highly recommend doing so.
@@nicholaspodobinsky5744 Also, yes, as long as it has the oil feed cooling line. All the 2009 + Grizzly models have the added oil line. But Yamaha used a different engine from 2016-2018. The cover I got was off of a 2021 Grizzly 700.

I OHM'D out my windings and I got continuity between all legs but my voltage while it was idling was slightly higher than 25v, maybe 27v. Will this cause me an issue right away? I'd like to use my grizzly 700 during this November for hunting if possible but ill do what I gotta do I suppose. What do you think?
I'm a newbie so just asking. When you started you said at idle it should read between 20-25 volts. Both 1 to 3 and 2 to 3 read 5 volts or under but you said the 2 to 3 leg was bad. Wasnt their 2 legs bad of the 3 tests ran ? Thanks.
Hi john !! I got a 98 warrior 350 did you know what stator brand is good for my quad I see different prices on amazon and I don’t know which brand to get or anybody can help me out here thanks .
Hi, I'm doing a test on my honda ruckus stator. From the user manual the stator is within specs. When i do the dynamic test, I'm Only getting 10v AC at idle and 20V when revved. In motorcycle world thats a bad stator, what do you think of those numbers on a 50cc scooter that shows being within spec on a bench test?
@@PartzillaParts Thanks for the reply. I was having charging issues with it. I purchased the scooter, bought a new battery and took it for a ride and when i parked the bike, the battery was almost dead. Not enough juice to start it so i used the kick start to get home. I parked it and because of life, a year later I'm here trying to figure out what went wrong. So far I'm lost. The stator is within spec, I'm getting 12.90 to 13v DC at the battery on idle and 14.10 when revved. The battery that i purchased last year was recharged and have a 12.68V that held from last year with no tender. Everything is testing fine right now so I'm a little lost to why the battery just drained last year twice on rides. All fuses tested fine and are secured, regulator is part of the ecu but based on the DC numbers it should be good... Yeah, dude is lost...
Hey man I have a 2003 grizzly 660 and the battery won’t stay charged. I’ve changed the battery a couple times thinking I’ve got a bad battery but that wasn’t the case. I can charge the battery over night and it will run all day. But 3 days later when I try to start it up there is nothing. I’ve but a volt meter on the battery when it is at idle and it reads 12.7 anything you can think of?
Hi please help I changed my stator because my magnets blew up cleaned the engine oil pan put new magnets and stator but now I did your test and it's being grounded somewhere I lost the bolts that hold the stator and bought some stainless ones could that be the problem or is my stator bad. It's a 2008 Yamaha r1 Its been a year trying to figure this out
I would replace the screws with the correct ones to start. Then you can test the stator and double check the wiring. www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2008/yzf-r1-yzfr1xl/generator

Hello, how to buy the correct stator for your quad?
Mines is a Hisun Forge 550
Does anything need to be timed or indexed when reinstalling the cover?
Thank you for that very informative movie!

Your stator is not charging properly or regulator, at idle you should have around 14.2V
