Talking about future Fellow Adam Savage! (although I have no idea if or how he could become one!)
3,000 years later, an archaeologist working in the (fairly well preserved, but now underground) Royal Society archives will come across the signature on the box, ecstatic to find an attestation to the historicity of the legendary Adam Savage.
Archeologist will be thrilled to find a genuine Adam Savage box but everybody will be baffled which dude's face is in the box...

I honestly think Keith was a little sad to see his box usurped.
If it weren't for Adam, that box would've housed Isaac Newton's death mask forever. Now, I dunno, Keith is gonna have to carve his initials into a shelf or something.

Actually his journey started *_long_* before that. He worked in film special effects for over 15 years, including nearly a decade at Lucasfilm's infamous Industrial Light & Magic, *_before_* he and Jamie ever conceived of MythBusters.

with these sorts of specially-designed things, there's two options: it either lasts 11 weeks because of a critical design flaw, or it lasts 11 centuries because by then the box itself would need special conservation
Well, as Adam mentioned in his video, the galvanic reaction between the steel screws and the aluminium plates will eventually cold-weld them together, so after a while the only way to take the box apart will be destructively.
In 10.000 years, some dude will earn his PhD researching this whole story 😂

This was amazing. I have been following Objectivity for years and now seeing a new object is being added to the collection feels special
What's really cool is seeing a _new_ object go into the collection, right alongside all the old stuff.
There are some nice contrasts, and similarities, too, between this box and the old, ornate timber containers made for the instruments seen on this channel.

The snaps of the latches at the end were so satisfying. I don't know it for a fact, but I'm 100% certain Adam feels the same way.

This box will most likely be its forever home. I wonder if anyone in the distant future will be watching this video and reading the comments.
In a hundred year they will have to make a new box for Isaac and an archival box to keep the precious Adam savage artifact in.
If I learned anything over the years it's that "temporary" solutions have this annoying tendency of becoming permanent over time. :P
I said that to my partner when we put parcel tape over the leak in the shower.
That was 5 years ago and we joke about the brown styling stripe.
Adam should defenetly be considered as an member of the royal society. He has done so much for getting the sciences to the general masses and to the younger generations, for many, many years.
Instead of eBay, keep the original box next to the metal one. Then give it its own card in the card catalog. In 100 years when someone does a White Glove of Destiny, the card will just say, "Keith's box, empty. 2023" They'll be disappointed or not understand. They'll have to go to the digital archives and find their local copy of this video (because RUclips won't exist anymore) to understand what Keith's box is.
Okay Adams box is fantastic but I honestly love the original box. It is so modest and unassuming. I hope they keep the original box as another artefact.
Before Brady pointed it out, I was thinking that now Adam Savage has become part of the history of Isaac Newton's death mask. I mean, I hope that Adam's other work also passes the test of time, but I'm pretty sure there will be annotations and records stating that "Between 2023 and 2XXX the death mask of Isacc Newton was kept in a box constructed by Adam Savage, using inert materials to better preserve the mask". Everyone's actions will echo through time of course, no matter how mundane, but it's truly special when you become involved in something as unique and historically relevant as this.

I hope Keith's box was archived with the new one and the mask. The entire history of how this mask went from a rotten cardboard box to Keith's box to Adam's archival container is tied to the mask's own history at this point. People would definitely want to know what Keith's box looked like if they were told Adam was a newer version. Like, I personally wonder what the box Keith got rid of looked like

There's something incredibly endearing about the fact that even an extremely important historical archive has moments where they just go, "eh, that'll do." Though, at the same time, I'm slightly concerned that it might be a common phenomenon.

I kind of love that the death mask of maybe the smartest human to ever live is stored in just a box. There is no need to embellish or be baroque about Isaac. His work speaks for him.

Does Keith know the Royal Society was in Cats 2019?? Im pretty sure thats the exterior of the building during Bustofer Jones, and theres the painting of Sir Isaac Newton inside
Adam should have included a bit of a tongue-and-groove in the mating between the lid and base for better dust exclusion. An alternative that could be added after-the-fact is a rim of foam (naturally wrapped in the tyvek fabric) that extends above the edge of the base.
The previous box should be kept as an historical piece as well. To have Newton's death mask's former home just shredded and tossed aside seems so callous.
You know if you shaved Brady and put a powdered wig on him...

And, notably, Keith did such an excellent job of His temporary measure that it passed the use test for decades longer than interended, giving all of us this wonderful moment here.

side note: I can't be the only one who has a crush on Keith, right? Because, I have a massive crush on Keith (with all due respect and apologies to his significant other).
I think Newton and Cody kind of favor each other a bit, like they might be on different branches of the same family tree. Not saying they are. I just think it's an interesting possibility.

I can't watch this. My anxiety rises when I see the guy touch the box and move it. How does Keith, the Head Librarian, keep so calm while someone is not being careful, nor aware? He is able to control his emotions better than me.
