    There is an expression from past, "Fish stacked so thick that you could walk across their backs . . ."
    Great to see all the tourists to Port Hope. Even better to see the clean banks of the river!
    Thanks Pete!

      @@frankgallimore5166 not for long sadly these are stocked fish and since they can’t be fished and they are not stocking them anymore the race will no longer fight to stay alive 5-7 years there will be no salmon again you take away the fisherman you take away the fish sadly in this case but yes back in the day this is how the Atlantic’s would be but the run off from toronto poisoned the food source so they stocked kings but didn’t realize stocked fish do not naturally reproduce well so they will have to continue stocking witch back in the day to much work until the fishing licence came along that the only reason those fish are there and the hard work and millions of dollars that fisherman spent that now they can’t even use because of Karen’s

    I remember all the rivers but the Don river down town runing full of fish . They used to look like that when i wss twenty . I am almost 53 . So, not that long ago . I quit fishing because of pressure. For how many are in this video is noting to how packed it used to be with fisher men . I think we all made the choice collectivly to quit . Because you could not even get a sopt for miles of river . Shoulder to shoulder all rods . It is awesome to people watch this event and not fish . Bless our water with abunance .

      @MikeMcKenzie-y4y You quit because of fishing pressure? Then you can't call yourself a fisherman and lost the concept of fishing. You have to adapt.

      This is terrible. I've never seen them in such shallow water. Most of them are gonna die and get injured. Some are already gone belly up..very painful all those rocks are gonna tear them up. This is not a special event this is sad. Most of those ppl probably don't even realize what's actually happening. Fkn cruel. Can they not open the damn up more to allow more water in. This breaks my heart. I fish all the time since I was a kid and I've never seen this in my life this bad. Wow. Crazy. Waste of good fish. N I thought fishing salmon was closed right now. Thought it seen a article they stopped it a couple months ago because too many ppl were waiding in and fishing them and littering. Or was that an old post meant for northern. I've only fished salmon once. So not sure the rules now..but I love it, but I never got a chance to bring some home. They are beautiful fish and quite the fighters..😢

    Once they introduced the Pacific salmon to please the sports fishermen that was the beginning of the ruin of the great speckled and brown trout fishing that you could do in the Ganaraska and many of the other rivers in Northumberland County. It's a shame!

    • @chriskumar4201
      @chriskumar4201 2 месяца назад

      well my friend, she caught 6 specks in about an hour and 2 browns after that in the ganny a few weeks back. Even a few baby chinooks. shows the river is doing better than well. Those fry were born before the sept 1st ban. So no shame i see.

    • @davealexander7317
      @davealexander7317 Месяц назад +1

      @chriskumar4201 I think the demise of a lot of the good fishing started with the introduction of the rainbows. There used to be lots of suckers and smelts that no longer exist any more. There are probably still some as you say but not near as good as it used to be.

      Check it out yourself. Growing
      Vegetables in your backyard
      That's poison. Water coming
      From taps is danger. Drinking
      It too. Government doesn't
      Tell and Pickering living by
      Nuclear plant is dangerous
      Too and lake there and Ajax
      Do not swim in that water
      Or Port Hope.
