I still keep coming back to your vid for your wonderful dipping. About to do my first. Usually paint normally but ready to get crazy. You have the best vid on how. Tyvm. Most mess up and don't use or even explain to use cold water. Then they wonder why it clumps and not uniform.
If you are going to try with ABS bodies you will need to use TS paints instead. But I have never tried to do this on ABS, so I don't know how it will turn out for you.
If you're not planning to use Poly Carbonate bodies, do you mean to do this on the ABS Clear Bodies? The cleat bodies that come from kits? GIve me an example so I can more accurately answer your question.
I honestly don't know for sure. Ice never done it on ABS. But if you really wanted to do it on ABS, a couple of issues you will have. Instead of PS Paints I mentioned in the video you might have to use the TS Paints. But then I've never seen anyone use the Hydro Dip on ABS, so I don't know how the TS Paints will react. Also this method works easily because Polycarbonate bodies have an outer film layer that protects the outside from getting paint splatter. If you want the paint to come through from the underside, you will have to mask the outer layer somehow. Otherwise the hydro dip paint process can be an uncontrollable mess. I honestly don't know how this would turn out. So if you wanna do that, you may need to research the info on your own. We primarily use Polycarbonate bodies specifically because they are lighter and are better for racing. Even though they are a pain to cut, the weight saving they provide is worth it in the end.
The DCR Body is ABS. Which will require a totally different set of paints. And I do not know how paint for ABS bodies will react with the hydrodip process.
Rafi Latief So that the black paint has something to swirl with. If it does not have the clear with swirl with, the black on its own would not cover the entire under surface of the clear body. The marble shape of the black would not come through very well too.
Rafi Latief That's up to you. Your marbling colors will look very different from the way mine turned out. Use any color except for Red. Red does not coagulate and runs. I don't know why, that's just what it does.
hi zen, for paint effeciency, I think it would be more better if you cut the poly body first and then paint it on. those paint is expensive af what do you think?
When painting, your paint source should be kept at 90 degrees to the surface you are painting if you arc as you are doing your paint gets thick in the middle and thinner on the edges. Something my 30 years of painting Polycarbonate RC bodies teaches

WoW man that’s awesome! Why did you stop making videos 😐
That turned out very nice!
Hi bro. The flim that you peeled off where did it come from? Is is already on it?
yes. Lexan clear bodies have that film to protect the outside. You paint the inside to protect it from getting scratched.
@@SpicyJax3000 oh okie..that's cool. How do we peel it off ? Will it start to peeling off by itself or we need to dry it then start peeling it?
Nice video! Very informative
Good day. Is this Only for polycarbonate cowl? How about the cowls from the box can i use this method also? Thanks . beginner here

Checking can pour normal paint into cold water instead spray paint? Same ?
I don't know. This is what I know works for Polycarbonate. You need paint that works on Polycarbonate/Lexan.
Can this be done with 2 different paint colors for the marble effect, instead of just 1 color (black)?
I've only used black on its own. Im not sure. So you can certainly try.
Do you get bubble inside the surface of the object? I try mine and i got some bubbles all around
Normal Dish Washing liquid works just as good and doesn't scratch up the body like tooth paste will!
When you dipped it you got paint on the outside of the body.
There's an outside layer of plastic that protects the outer side of the body. If you watch 19 minutes into the video, you'll see what I mean.
Hi, can I ask if let say I am bad with cutting these kind of bodies, is it possible to use this method on ready made transparent bodies ?
If you're not planning to use Poly Carbonate bodies, do you mean to do this on the ABS Clear Bodies? The cleat bodies that come from kits? GIve me an example so I can more accurately answer your question.
Z3N Bluster hi yes. To be exact I am looking at using the ABS DCR01 cover. The cover is lightly tinted grey but still transparent

Thank you zen for the reply. Maybe I will give poly carbonate a shot some time!
Use a drimmel gives nice edges.
Ia this attainable by using bosny paint here in phillippines ? Paints im trying to use red.clear.white.silver.black ?
Thank you in advance master zen
Is it hard to drill holes for it to attach with the damper?
Nope, you can also drill the holes first then paint it.
Sir question gano katagal mo hihintayin from the first layer ng paint. Gano katagal mag hihintay para matuyo? Then after 2nd and so on.
It depends on your weather. If it's hot, 10 minutes or so are fine. If it's cold try and wait around 20 or more minutes.
Nice job brother
Where the film came from?
The protective film is in every new Tamiya Polycarbonate Body. It is to prevent overspray.
do you need a clear body?
If you're serious about maximizing the performance of your car, yes.
@@Z3NBluster ok thank you very much😊
@@Z3NBluster so can i hydro dip my dcr body?
I've never done a hydrodip on the DCR. I think you're confusing, "clear body," with, "Polycarbonate body." Which are you referring to?
The DCR Body is ABS. Which will require a totally different set of paints. And I do not know how paint for ABS bodies will react with the hydrodip process.
why do you have to use the PS-58 pearl clear?
Rafi Latief So that the black paint has something to swirl with. If it does not have the clear with swirl with, the black on its own would not cover the entire under surface of the clear body. The marble shape of the black would not come through very well too.
so if i use 2 or 3 colours for the dip i don't need the PS-58?
Rafi Latief That's up to you. Your marbling colors will look very different from the way mine turned out. Use any color except for Red. Red does not coagulate and runs. I don't know why, that's just what it does.
But you actually used red
@@cheesenoodles9403 I think he meant for the dipping part.
Did you not see the rear corners got missed completely
Those corners are not part of the main body, you don't need paint there because it's just gets cut off.
Hi bro..only can use PS? Can use TS ?
PS paints are for Polycarbonate. TS is for ABS.
Quality work
hi zen,
for paint effeciency, I think it would be more better if you cut the poly body first and then paint it on.
those paint is expensive af
what do you think?
It's okay to paint first then cut. Yes, all the 4 paint canz are about $32 total.
