Even the director was so surprised 'at a certain point my actors started shooting each other, I was just there to shoot the action, I lost 3 cameramen'... lol.
I have a big problem with that scene. It's a great piece of action and all, but it's so out of touch with the tone and setting of the movie! Come on, a hitmen squad freewheeling through the Guggenheim would constitute something a major terrorist attack.
@ Yes, I know that, but certainly the museum wasn't actually destroyed for this film. I presume they shot up a 'set' and not the real thing. If so, that is incredibly elaborate.
@@jimmerhardy According to IMDb, they got access to the museum’s blueprints and built a full scale replica of its interior in an abandoned train warehouse so they could do whatever they wanted with it. Pretty amazing imo.
After 9 yrs, I still cant get over it how brilliant and oversaw that picture is. The most scary part, how impersonal the evil in this film is. You cant really trace evil, because its not strictly impersonated, as opposed to stupid hollywood filmalikes. In the International the evil is ubiquitous, its impersonal yet omnipresent. You get very specific, Kafkaesque vibe after this. Evil could be even among ordinary passers-by, like in the opening scene, for instance... I personally consider it very emblematic, that it turned out to be quite a flop in the box office.People quite often doesnt recognize the genius when it turns up. Same with Kafka. Overall this is an absolutely unprecedented mixing of arthouse filmmaking with big-budget thriller, but in a favor of arthouse part, much to the value and timelessness of the end effect. I hope time will do this picture justice. And Tykwer deserved it as well.
Monotonus voice completely lacking persona. Average figure, average and completely forgettable face lacking any distinctive aspects . Best assassin in film, ever.
RR Cobb Dear Mr Cobb McDick, I think you might need to take lessons in reading comprehension because there's not a single line in my comment referring to Mr. Owen. As you might notice the last sentence contains the word "assassin", which Mr Owen did not portray in this movie. Instead he portrayed an Interpol agent. The assassin was portrayed by Brían F. O'Byrne for whom I have nothing but praise. Unfortunately as far as I am aware, he did not earn any recognition for his role. Now before possibly replying to this message. Try to spend time reading it. So that you can avoid further tantrums.
RR Cobb What's with the insults? What taistelutomaatti originally said was a compliment to the casting of the assassin. On top of that, you called him out for adding "McDick" to the end of your username, when you (quite obviously) intentionally butchered taistelutomaatti's username.
I like very much this movie... direction is superb. In this gun shooting... a police officer got a bullet wound in his neck then blood pumped from his neck big vessel.... like fountain.. this is appears like real. Anyhow film superb action film !!!
Dude...that shootout was so out of the blue but i wish i was kidding, i could hang a goddamn coat of my wang it was so hard hahahahaha that was SOOO MANLY!!! that was something Maddox would invent, their expressions of pure badassness and just lighting UP the bad guys, the wheelchair and blowing that guy away.. and the best being the hitman, hes knocking at deaths door and not even phasin him...god. damn.
Spectacularly conducted scene. Without a doubt the best scene in the movie, and probably one of the best action scenes I've ever viewed, period.
This film never intended to be gun blazing action movie, but that shootout goddamn.
Even the director was so surprised 'at a certain point my actors started shooting each other, I was just there to shoot the action, I lost 3 cameramen'... lol.

It's a very underrated movie
Terribly underrated , it's one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen
Too complicated for most, but what a pay off scene. How the hell did they do it? Build a entire museum set?

@@jimmerhardy Yes, literally!

One of the best films in a long long time.
Incredibly staged fight scene. This was an incredible movie. Cinematography was fantastic. Wow!
Probably one of the best installation art works in the museum.

Sir. You may be correct in that assessment. Certainly the most authentic, in the contemporary sense. Excellent comment.
Damn!! Right in the throat as well. Them first shots came out of nowhere. :-o
I was there today! Great place! I mean the real one, this is a copy for the movie. And what a movie!
Great movie, the best shootout scene since the "Heat" bank robbery.
They built a copy for filming. Yes, really
Brilliantly directed and acted.
I'll watch anything with Clive Owens just to hear his voice and see his face!! Wait that was kinda Creepy but true😂
My only gripe with this is that no civilians get killed , which we all no is never the case in reality.
Clive Owen had a good screen presence. He should have been a bigger star. This movie could have been three hours long and I still would have cared.
I recently watched him in "Killer Elite", a Jason Statham movie, and he was really good in it.
This scene rly made the movie.
@SONY , tired of Daniel Craig Bond movie , come on , Do a sequel to the international WITH CLIVE OWEN !!! that will be a BOMB !!!
I keep forgetting how awesome this movie is!

What's with the gentleman whispering "thank-you for coming!" at 3:42 in the middle of a shootout?
max payne vs hitman
The bank robbery gun battle in Heat is the gold standard. But this isn't too far behind.
What a pity the full shooting scene is not here.
I got past the security guard doing the bag check at the entrance
3:41 boy got his chance!
Stupid gunfight. 6 shots from a revolver....check....every other gun he picks up has an infinite magazine capacity. WTF?
All that glass... Hans Gruber would be proud.
I find it hard to believe that the gunmen didn't wear masks. Also how the hell did Clive Owen get out of the country?!!
3:50 7 shots from a 6 round gun
It's all about the International Bankers, BIS, Federal Reserve, Bank of England --- all in Plain Sight!!
alguien la tiene completa
this scene is awsome its so unexpected that he teams up with the 1 leggid assasin lmao loved it but he dies lol he was awsome
This scene reminds me of Ghost Recon: Phantoms
This scene is incomplete! 😕
