I own a pair of Damascus Knives. I trained with hard plastic, heavier with an unsharpened blade. The Demascus blades are sharpened and durable.

Those look really cool! I love the history of martial arts weapons.

How heavy/light are good quality Butterfly Knives for Wing Chun? The ones I trained with (a long time ago) if my memory serves me right they were awkwardly heavy. And I wonder if that is just because they were training knives or if the actual knives would be damn heavy too. They do have a pretty big blade so.

nice blades, beautiful patterns. In my mind i see them as short swords.

Yeah, you're right, nothing describes them that well, but butterflly swords or knives has stuck.
