Aww thank you so much for this. I just repotted 5 of my plants and they are doing great so far. I talk to my plants everyday. So does my husband. My family knows the deal when it comes to my loves.😂😂

@christelarmstrong9598, I'm sorry to hear about your thrip problem! Here are my suggestions for getting things under control with thrips. (I will be doing a video on them in the future, as well.) 1) Blue sticky traps will attract the adults and cut down on the population. Research shows blue is what attracts thrips rather than yellow like some other pests. Here are some: amzn.to/3EfwkIU 2) Treat with 91% isopropyl alcohol, insecticidal soap and/or horticultural oil. The latter two will suffocate them and alcohol will damage/dry them out. Here is a horticultural oil product: amzn.to/3swPR4Y They do pupate in the soil, so the soil also has to be treated. So you can spray the soil surface, and when you feel like they are under control, it's good to repot into fresh soil. Hope that helps! Please keep me updated, if you get a chance.

I have a habit of repotting new plants immediately. I've found so many plugs, horrible soil...
Most plants will take a while to adjust but don't really react dramatically, until I did it to a maranta. My new maranta is wilting and I'm so upset with myself for repotting it. I hope it survives.

@pinstripesuitandheels, That is a good habit, because you are correct--many plants are planted in poor soil and don't have extensive or healthy root systems. Marantas are picky, though, as you discovered. It may be okay. You'll have to give it some time. For future reference, best to repot them in warm months. If you are in a cold area of the country right now, you could try putting the plant on a seedling heat mat, which might help it survive, as it will keep the roots warm.
