I think the sentiment behind mining vs buying is that if someone was to spend 500$ on a miner it would take 100 days to get to just break even on the miner vs if they bought kaspa today they would likely see a return on their investment (at this rate by 50days) but likely high ROI by 100 day point just by purchasing kaspa.... But that's the thing after 100 days you're seeing significant profits and that's if kaspa stays at the price eventually kaspa will be way higher in value

I shy away from mining because of the depreciation of mining power and possibly the coin too. The cost of the device may never pay for itself. Instead of spending 700 cad on a device that may pay itself off in 8 months (if profits stay the same for that long and they never do) I could just use that money to buy the coin.
It's a matter of obsolescence. Cheap miners become obsolete too quickly, expensive ones cost too much for the home miner, but that is currently what the market supports. I'm sure Bitmain could make an affordable miner that made ok returns by using better components, but then it wouldn't need replacing so often and they wouldn't sell as many. They'd go out of business the same way as somebody who made everlasting light bulbs. As demand for blockspace increases so the profitability from mining goes up and more people can get into mining. With more miners the price comes down again. Going forwards one can see a need for affordable personal miners that can at least offset what a bitcoiner would spend in blockchain fees. It also needs to be really plug and play. The need is only going to increase, because if it doesn't happen, chain activity will slow and bitcoin adoption along with it as a reaction to $10, $20, $30 or more for a transaction. Technology tends to lead eventually towards democratisation and decentralisation. Also AI algorithms may start finding shortcuts to mining blocks also that improve efficiency. It is fairly predictable that the gap in the marketplace for a useful personal miner is only going to increase, and it's only a matter of time before somebody fills it.
The direction for the home miner currently depends on innovations like Lightning, which means we can take our involvement in a different direction. The issue with Lightning is the complexity for the average user. I can see never-ending innovation overcoming this, so eventually transacting bitcoin is not just free but profitable as running channels starts to take less knowledge and direct involvement.
for anyone thinking this is easy.... its not.... having mined etherium i can tell you its constant care. internet connect has to be great, any issues , packs get halted mining stops. pools too they will update and you have to as well. every other day i had to reboot or reset or update.

I wish there was a 120v BTC miner that only consumed a couple hundred watts and had reasonable hash rate efficiency. Even if it was making only $1/wk for me, I would run it. Not for the money. For the network! I have a philosophical liking for bitcoin.
well there is the apollo btc made by futurebit. you can change the power usage some by changing settings but it's usually between 123 to 282 watts for one hash board (could spike up over 300 watts on startup) from 2x 6 pin pcie power connectors. it's hard to say what is reasonable efficiency now, but it's not like they are really in the same class as the newest 100+ TH miners or multi KW power supplies so it's like comparing apples and oranges. in the software they say the efficiency in watts per GH, so about 0.06 to 0.07 watts per GH or 60 to 70 watts per TH if that's easier to comprehend it's kind of unique the power supply they sell for it, a 200w platinum, but you can use whatever power supply
when you say it can mine "any coin" with nicehash, i believe that's not really whats happening... wouldn't you just still be mining kaspa but for them and then being paid in BTC? It's an important thing to note if it can mine other coins or not because that would affect the market exposure of the device specifically.

Currently making $1.70 a day not $5 anymore and its dropping FAST. If it maintains this current rate it would take a year just to make your money back when calculating electrical costs. With how quickly it's going down though, you won't likely ever even break even. Seems the only company making money is Ice River and RUclipsrs. RUclipsrs because they get the equipment early on when it’s making its highest profit margins.

Watched your video and there is some great info. I just purchased 25 cases with six fans in each case. These came into Miami, but US Customs seized them. They put them up for auction and that is how I got them. Each case also comes with two new Biostar TB250-BTC motherboards in their box. Can these still be used for mining? Thats why theres a new one out every few months. Look this guy was claiming $5 a day. 3 months later its 80 cents a day lol. To put into perspective how quickly these become obsolete. All these youtube guys just want the bonuses they get when you use their discount code. All bitmain does is dump machines that are a few months - 6 months of being obsolete. Help. After 20 hours working green and red light are off, fun is working, but hash rate are zero and webInterface not working. Plug power off and on = asic start work again. After 20 hours the problem repeats itself. I have 3 asics and all have same problem. Help!

Help. After 20 hours working green and red light are off, fun is working, but hash rate are zero and webInterface not working. Plug power off and on = asic start work again. After 20 hours the problem repeats itself. I have 3 asics and all have same problem. Help!
