    I blooming love this foundation. my face is covered in purple scars. I use less than a pea size to do my whole face and it covers everything. It looks like skin on me. my friends thought I had some sort of surgery on my face lol I used to spend like three hours colour correcting, spot concealing then blending and blending and blending.

    I feel like you're the only one who ever straight up shows your skin on camera. Like suuuuuuper close up. And I love it because even though I have more oily skin than dry skin (I do have random dry patches), I trust your reviews because I can actually SEE how the foundation is meshing with your skin. You're great. I love you!

    Honestly, I don't think it is a wrong shade. It really matches your body that is paler than your face. It just looks ultra cakey as you said.

      2 Blessed If you ask me, your base should be a liiiiiittle bit paler than your body, and then you use a contour colour to make your face match your body. Methinks. 😸

      Laura Sharp I think because her hair is both extremely fine AND extremely thin that anything longer than chin length just exaggerates that fact.
      This is much more flattering. Definitely.
      Fine hair is genetic but thinning hair could have nutritional components.

    i'm afraid that sometimes these foundations don't work out for you because of the amount that you use. i think by dotting it onto your face first, it's hard to tell how it's going to blend out or how much you really need. if there ends up being too much product on your face, it could look bad because of that alone, not because it's a bad product or a product that doesn't work for you. it will make it look cakey or cause your oils to come through stronger, and sometimes it can settle terribly on the skin if there's too much.
    i'm only saying this because of experience. the way it looks on your face looks so familiar to me. i've noticed that putting foundation on the back of my hand first and dipping a brush or sponge into it and then blending on my face leads to better results. just something to think about/consider.

    • @Michaelabeauty96

      emetatron I agree I used to have the same issue once I started not dotting it on my face I like it way better especially with this foundation you should do it

    The paper that comes with the foundation explains that you should set it with a powder and to use a setting spray. I have this stuff and I love it. Setting it with translucent powder helped so much.

    I actually think the shade match is pretty good because it matches your neck and chest. I agree you used too much but it was your first time trying it and I know that with a lot of makeup, especially foundation, it takes several wears to get the best look for your personal skin. What works for some doesn't always work for all. I do think the coverage was incredible but that foundation is generally suggested for people who have a lot of skin issues to cover like scars, acne spots, discolored skin, burn marks etc but think you did a great job reviewing as always :)

      Stephanie Palacios I had to google the ingredients and according to makeupalley.com the first ingredient is titanium dioxide (CI 77891). Titanium dioxide is a whitening agent and physical SPF blocker which causes flashback. Irl I rarely take flash photos (or go to events where my picture is taken by someone else) so it doesn't bother me personally.

    You say your skin is oily but just from the close up of your skin it looks on the more dehydrated side. I think you're saying your skin is oily or gets oily because you're using products that strip the natural oils from your skin therefore your skin is trying to produce more oil to make up for it. Its dehydrated. I would try drinking more water and using less mattifying products (like the boscia mattifying primer) I really think it would help. :) I'm saying this because I had the same problems and so did some of my clients and this helped alot.
    Also, is it weird that I really like your mailbox? Haha it's so cute and vintage looking

      Zoe Robi I feel like she can't win either way, because her holy grail primer mentions hydration and people went nuts saying she should be using a primer for oily skin and that was why she dislikes some foundations 😂

    could you do a re-do of this foundation without the boscia primer and using like a 1/3 of this amout? i know you didn't realize how pigmented it was but its not the fairest of reviews if you use way more than needed. most foundations look crazy cakey when over used!

    just out of curiosity, when not "testing" a foundation, since you have oily skin, Do you ever set your foundation with a powder? Or try Baking the T zone? When ever i was younger i had majorly oily skin and i NEVER went without powdering. I have dry skin now that im older and i still powder. I would feel so uncomfortable wearing a liquid foundation and not powdering. It would slide off my face and transfer as to be expected with a liquid.

    • @Lisa-kf4iu
      @Lisa-kf4iu 7 лет назад +4

      Oh does she never set her foundation? I haven't watched many of her videos. Also, it seems like she never goes between her eyes or am I wrong?

    • @lunaflower1978
      @lunaflower1978 7 лет назад +1

      When she is testing foundations ive never seen her set the foundation. I always assumed it was to test how the foundation wore all on its own. But idk if for normal tutorials if she sets her foundation or not. I would hope so having oily skin that she would.

    I love how brave you are about trying something that may not end up looking great, and your honesty in review. So, thanks much for that! I also agree about your skin actually being dehydrated. It looks exactly like mine used to and it sounds like it feels the same too. One day a lady in Nordstrom was trying to convince me to moisturize more but I was terrified of adding more oil. She ended up giving me a moisturizer for free and my skin was dramatically changed. It took a few weeks to fully transform but my skin was smooth and what I would consider normal for the first time since my pre-teen years. That was about 10-12 years ago and now I moisturize every day. I encourage you to visit (not effing Sephora - screw them) but another good department store near you to consult on the best moisturizer for you. I'm partial to the gel creams from Natura Bisse and the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre. Take care!

    Thataylaa mentioned on her channel that this is great to mix with the Covergirl Matte BB cream. So one day I tried it and it made the color so much better and it just looked beautiful on my skin, which has plenty of acne that needed to be covered. The Covergirl BB cream also makes the Dermacol last longer and it is honestly my favorite foundation combo. I use about the same amount you did on one half of your face and then an equal amount of the BB cream and that usually gives me full coverage all over my face. Not sure I could ever thank Taylor enough for this recommendation.

    This foundation is amazing but it definitely took me some tinkering to figure out the best way to wear it. I have dry/combo skin with acne and it wears beautifully it doesn't gather on my dry patches or my acne scabby areas but I figured out it wore wayyyy better without a primer and used setting powder and setting spray instead. It also works better for me with a brush (and im usually an avid beauty blender). I bake on my nose with setting powder because i wear glasses, use setting powder normally on the rest of my face, and set with urban decay all nighter, and it looks flawless and lasts all day.

    For reference, Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation has like 21% pigment and thats a full coverage foundation.
    I adore this foundation but I do not really think it's meant for oily skin and I do not think it works well with glasses. Even when set it transfers. It is meant to be like stage makeup.
    I sat there yelling "TOO MUCH" when you put some out and started putting it on. That amount would do my face like twice or three times lol. Like the number one tip of makeup is to start using a tiny amount and build it lol.
    I love it with a brush and a sponge, I use a brush when I'm in more of a hurry, you used wicked alot for a brush lol. If you use a small amount it looks extremely natural, it kind of mimicks the look of skin but like the perfect skin that you want.
    I have dry to normal skin and I tend to get a little oily around my nose, not on my nose but around it, and it doesn't break down at all in that oily area. I have worn it for around 16 hours and it still looked almost the same as well I put it on, it lasts very well for me. I use the Laura Geller Spackle primer under and it works well but I've also used no primer and it's fine as well.

    • @GPlusZGaming
      @GPlusZGaming 7 лет назад +69

      She always says that she has oily skin, but anyone that looks at her face can see that she has extreme dry patches too. It's called combo skin and she is actually on the extreme ends of both dry and oil spectrums. It's very hard to find good skincare and foundation in that category, but there is a lot of information out there and she really needs to do some research. I think her skin could improve so much and that would make her reviews more accurate. As it is, I pretty much wouldn't leave my house if my foundation looked like THAT on my face! I would be mortified. Therefore, it's very hard for me to take her reviews seriously. I do enjoy her videos, but I just don't find her foundation reviews very helpful.

      @GPlusZGaming 7 лет назад +28

      I didn't say that her skin is dry, I said she has dry patches on her face, which she admits. I wasn't trying to be rude, but I do think she has more combo skin than just oily skin. Oily skin wouldn't have those extreme dry patches unless something else is going on. Dehydrated skin can be causing her dry patches and excessive oil production. No matter what, I don't think whatever skincare she is currently doing is working very well and I think she would benefit from some research or seeing dermatologist.

    • @Just_Kirsty
      @Just_Kirsty 7 лет назад +8

      I totally get what you're saying. My skin is oily but lacking moisture. I don't know what that's called in English but we call it somewhat like "dry oily skin", which I got told is different than combination skin (which has areas that are oily and areas that are normal to dry) because the skin produces more oil to balance the lack of moisture. That skin type can be really tricky if you are not aware of it. Usual products for oily skin will be too drying and products for really dry skin can cause breakouts (on me at least). I use cleanser and toner for oily acne prone skin and a moisturizer that's labelled for my age (I'm 29) and really hydrating. I get away with this method pretty well. Also: oily skin can be extremely flaky because the skin sheds more, that's why salicylic acid comes in handy. It chemically peels off all the dead skin cells and leaves your skin soft and clean, ready for moisturizer.

    Use a pea size for whole face. And set with powder puff. I use this foundation everyday. I love it. I have acne and with this foundation it cleared up. Bronzer and blush blends beautifully. It's super thick so only use tiny bit and build up in areas needed. Going in heavy makes it look caked.

    Cassie, I am so glad you did this video, I have been screaming at everyone who has reviewed this for months! It's just oil based stage make up to me, to those of us who have ever performed, under the stage lights, yes it works wonders as in it looks beautiful but by god does it clog your pores and make you a greasy, cakey mess. And I am very dry skinned. I have to use water based stage makeup because this is just way too heavy for me personally and make it look like I've done hours of cardio, dripping fountains of sweat lol. Really honest review and one of your best. I recently tried the Boscia primer too but I don't like it :( I tried all of your tricks to make it work but foundation just does not want to stay on top of it for me. I will stick to our favourite Guerlain which is my holy grail and never fails me, just like you never do ;)

    I have the foundation myself and its amazing (mixed - dry skin) I use it every day now and my skin looks way better with it than with other foundations (which cost more)
    You used too much product, you just need a very small point for your entire face, especially when you have no pimples.
    And since its a toothpaste-like texture you dont need that much powder (I guess, I never use more powder than I really need, my face would look absolutely cakey)

  • @marisahastie

    I love this foundation. I have dry skin and I find its one of the few foundations that doesn't make my skin look dry and cakey. I just add a little amount and it makes me skin look moistured and dewy which I love. My skin looks really healthy with it. I can see it not working for oily skin as it does get greasy at the end of the day, but I think it all depends on what powder is used.

      Mattie Harris exactly, if you read the description it says blatantly she's wearing the NARS powder she usually wears.

    i love how honest you are. I also love the fact you don't use filters. I hate when makeup gurus do that, like, what's the point if I can't see what it truly looks like!!?

    I know you think it's super pale on you, but it actually looks like it matches your neck and chest very well!

    I just posted my full coverage foundation routine for acne/scarring on my channel using this foundation & it is my ride or die!!!! It's so so good 😭 I like to use a flat top brush to blend it out then go in with a damp beauty blender! I have super oily skin but it stays throughout my entire day with my Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying Spray! I use shade 208 & I'm also NC15 in Mac foundation if that helps anybody!!

    Hey Cassie!! I love you ahh! So just wanted to give you a tip in case you want to still use this product for yourself; I have the sameEXACT skin as you, I really do- and I use this product every day for foundation. First, I prime my face with the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer and then I only use 1-2 small dabs of Dermacol 208 on each part of my face (chin, cheeks, forehead, nose and upper lip) with a damp beauty blender. I use a translucent setting powder over it (I barely dust it on because I personally like the dewy/satin finish it gives). When I use this combination I find that the Dermacol does not get overly saturated in my oils OR rub off as easily. I hopeThis helps in some way! You're beautiful Cassie ❤️❤️
