At this fight it got me thinking of a cool little idea. What if this flashback was thrown in an entire different direction. For example, let’s say Alex actually advances and does well in the karate tournament. And theres like a large amount of money as a prize for the tournament this fight takes place in. And as you play as Alex in the flashback through multiple fights you finally get to the grand finals. And the last opponent remaining. Is no other than Brad Armstrong... the fight with brad Armstrong is just like this one. Just slightly changed. Brad kicks Alex’s ass to another dimension. During the fight in game brads completely op (This could be because since its in the past lets say Brads still a pretty young man with a bit more karate/kung fu experience than Alex). Now theres no beatin’ around the bush. Brads supposed to win. Id say this would have the same effect on alex, discouraging him to continue his karate career by getting close to the “gold” and getting shut down. Leading to alex becoming a garbage man in the future. Brad winning the tournament would also explain where he got the money to open up the dojo. This would be a neat little tournament mode you can play through in the flashback sequence while also crossing over with the main lisa games. This is just a fun thought i came up with though

**All of this is a drummed-up poetic, dramatic, and tragically romantic theory.** Oh man, after watching Alex have that blissful scene with Chie. Then knowing that this moment here was a huge turning point in his life. It makes me wonder, did Chie breakup with Alex right before the match, or was it after? I know that Alex was severely outmatched by actual fighters, but still. As someone who has suffered heart-break right before something massive, I can tell you... At that moment, something isn't right. (Lame. Lol.) The pain of losing someone you really care for, then add a soul-crushing humiliating defeat on top. Alex may have been trying his absolute hardest to keep both Chie and his fighting career with him. There's something poetic about that to me. Young Alex seemed foolhardy, rash, and somewhat of a bit of a bully. So maybe he tried keeping Chie close by being clingy or somewhat forceful. Which, if you've ever been in that situation with a girl who is like an untamed flame, it only makes things worse. So, take what I just said and combine that with how Alex fights here. He doesn't have his receding stance here, so he's ALWAYS on offense. This plays directly into the competitor's hands. Making Alex lose while also looking like a fool. There's honestly nothing that he can do, ultimately leading to forfeit or cheating. In the Chie example, this leads to quitting on her or using tactics to keep her around. With that said, and not to sound too hokey, the situation seems pointless. Once the match is over, Alex retreats to find solace in being alone in the locker room. It's there where we see his lifeless, depressed, and heartbroken eyes. He sits down, then proceeds to cry. There was nothing he could do at that moment, no clear or right answer. This potentially throwing him back to when that man interrogated him at his house. Yet, there's no one there this time to comfort him. **Welp, that's practically a damn fanfic that I wrote. However, I enjoy the imagery. Maybe one of you will too. Lmfao.**
too much personal aggression/offensiveness really gets to a young man like that, it comes to me better with visualizing it in my head. probably because of first-hand experience of legitimately acting between who i thought would be my soulmate on Discord. it ended terribly not for me but for her and it's always jarring for me to reflect on it. anyway, i think you're spot-on with how it could've been with Alex and his girlfriend.
Do you think if Alex learned the beginner and intermediate courses for Velvet-fu, he'd be a better fighter? If the start of the game is anything to go by. He only had the grandmaster course tape. You don't learn a Martial art with the difficult stuff right off the gate, you gradually work your way up the ranks and iron out your mastery. But then again... Velvet-fu is basically a fake power rangers-ish Hollywood martial arts. So I'm not sure how that would help against someone who knows the real deal. Just food for thought, really.
nah, because like you said velvet-fu is fake. if alex learned an actual martial art, im sure he would be godly since he manages to make terrible, impractical moves work. look how much flexibility and skill something like the iron hoof or goat kick takes; just too bad it would never work well, and doesn't.
@@gianni50725 there's also the feeling that Alex only really started working on making Velvet-Fu viable *after* the Flash, simply as a means to survive.

Would be great if in agony mode you could actually defeat him, and then face the rest of the competitors, and that the last one of them is cheating, but alex manage to defeat him too.

All things considered The Pointless is pretty lighthearted and almost hopeful in his themes
I'd say it's almost a needed paradox to the original games

I doubt things would've gone much different if Alex wasn't placed against Stan. I mean, really now. We don't even know how effective his attacks would be since we cannot see young Alex's stats, the fact that none of his normal attacks hit, and that Trick Kick didn't do very much damage anyway. Plus, Alex most likely only trained off the one tape... poor guy.
The fact that Minor and Major Iris work at all is proof of Alex's actual potential as a martial artist. Gonna take A wild guess and assume the fast poking hand that was on the tape to teach Minor and Major Iris was probably edited to look that way, because the entire style is bs anyways. If Alex had learned A real style like the Armstrong Style then he would probably kick as much ass as Brad or Rando.

This is an awesome idea, actually. One of the opponents could be Cyclops from Hopeful or something
nah, i don't believe brad actuallly attented the tournament, he was busy with a lot other stuff

**All of this is a drummed-up poetic, dramatic, and tragically romantic theory.**
Oh man, after watching Alex have that blissful scene with Chie. (Lame. Lol.)
The pain of losing someone you really care for, then add a soul-crushing humiliating defeat on top.
Lmfao.**

How it feels to play a fighting game
