    I grow these from seed every year here in Georgia. They’re easy to care for and taste SOOOOO GOOD!

    Definitely could have let that one go a couple more weeks. The rind is still thick and the flesh is pale.

    In zone 5 b I'd be challenged to grow one. I might try. Was successful with scaly bark last. That's the way we weight the watermelon too lol

    Why is my crimson sweet gets riped when it is only about 10lbs? Far from the supposedly 25lbs.

    • @tinybackyardfoodforest510
      @tinybackyardfoodforest510  2 года назад +1

      My guess would be that its just your particular growing conditions, Sun exposure, watering, that sort of thing. Sometimes 10 lbs is a win! I've had watermelons that got no bigger than a softball but were ripe inside 🤣

    My watermelon has 2 tendrils right next to the stem (i know 😢). One is brown half way down and the other is just starting to brown at the tip. Which one do i go off of?

    • @tinybackyardfoodforest510
      @tinybackyardfoodforest510  Год назад

      I would probably wait - Better to be super ripe than under ripe. I'd also look for a yellowing of the bottom "white spot" as an indicator. Did you cut it? How did it go?

    This is my first year growing watermelon. I picked up a small plant at Lowe’s. Any tips of growing? Also how long until production? Thank you..

  • @Mrsnufleupagus

    Envious :) Zone 3b is not the melons favourite weather, lol.

    • @tinybackyardfoodforest510
      @tinybackyardfoodforest510  7 лет назад +1

      Awe man that's rough! I bet there are some melons that could cope with Zone 3B, I'll keep an eye out. This year I have 12 different melon varieties growing already and 3 winter melons that I'm going to start soon in the front yard. You can live vicariously, it should be quite the spectacle lol.
