  • I bought a U.S. Made Walker Turner 1100 20 in. Industrial Quality Drill Press which had 1940's art deco cast iron styling on the head off of craigslist.
    Specifications:
    Height: 74”
    Width: 22”
    Front to Rear: 34 1/2”
    Weight: 645 lb
Head: One Piece Casting, Fine Grain Iron
Bearings: SKF, 5 rows bored in line. Double Set bearings near work load
Table: Production style, heavily ribbed Cast iron with T-Slots for clamping down vises and other fixtures.
    Spindle: 10 Spline
    Spindle Nose: Morse Taper 3
    Quill: 2 3/8” Diameter
    Travel: 6”
Since this originally was used in a pattern shop in the California Central Valley, this came with a 480v 3 phase motor as well as an extra single phase motor. I only have single phase so I will be changing the motor over from the 3-phase to use the single phase rockwell motor that came with it,
In this video I cover some of the basics of what it looks like as well as an initial foray into the switch wiring and motor. Then spend the rest of the video getting the drill press set up on its new Bora pm-3500 base. That worked great and hopefully the next step of getting the switch re-wired and the single phase motor connected will be as easy.
