Sounds like there might be a backing track reinforcing his vocal, natural voice might have been a little bit off. I could be wrong, that’s just a guess
I believe he's hitting the edge of breakup on his voice, almost like a controlled voice crack between screaming and singing a note with your vocal chords.. I've done it to my voice where it sounds like I'm almost hitting two notes simultaneously. Then there's reverb and delay on spencer too, so that's adding to the effect.
It's a very note controlled fry scream. Listen to Andy Cizek in the last Termina song Parasocial. He does it all the time now in his newer material. Does it on Lavos well in Monuments. It's an interesting technique to try to pick up. Good luck!

I still feel a bit bad that the periphery set list for the very first show of the tour which i went too got messed because of what happened to loathe. As you see they play reptile, ragnarok, wildfire, atropos, and marigold. In the first show they played ragnarok, wildfire, atropos, the bad thing, follow your ghost, and marigold. They lost a good 10 minutes but I still love them and I'm glad they were able to play the full amount of time.
?? Did they use the backing track for the first guitar solo in Atropos ?? Love these guys music, no biggy.. Would really love to see them hire a touring bassist, like, davie504 or somebody else with chops, just to really fill out the live sound. ty 4 postin! enjoyed!
yeah according to the documentary they released recently for the new album both Mark and Misha thought the arpeggio was too hard to play live because it's really fast, so that's why it's a backtrack instead.

The first time I seen Metallica play battery I was bummed the intro was just a track, same with the clean part of holy wars, but recently I seen Kiko actually plays that part live now, and props to him for that, putting in the work! I also seen periphery with a bass player early on and that was by far the best I've ever heard them sound live granted It was a tiny club so packed I could barely see glimpses here and there of anything on the stage being it was literally 6 in tall, But that had a lot to do with why I fell in love with them. When I seen Devin Townsend Just play by himself that was my favorite performance by him and I've seen all his tours that came through including strapping young lad, But that's just me. I love live performances.
