Went to mapperley plains primary school 51 - 56 & sports day was always at Geding Colly sports ground. They always had a decent football team, even played Bishop Auckland in the Amateur Cup in the late 50's - lost 4--1. Lived on Tees side since 56 - no collieries but lots of good non league footy teams.

I started at Gedling pit 1966 at 16 ganging with the ponies, At 18 coal face training on B14ns hand got face 9 yards pick n shovel.
My dad worked there from late 1940's to early 1960's
My Husband worked here in 1973
