“Makeup is not supposed to be stressful, it’s supposed to be fun” LOVE IT. Glad you’re doing a project pan and keeping it flexible and enjoyable 😃😍
Thank you so much, Angie!!
To keep things fresh with your collection, it might be fun to try making a look inspired by newly released makeup using your own collection instead. Like “duping the vibe” but for a look that you might create from a palette instead of duping the whole colour story from a palette.
LOVE duping the vibes! Great idea!
Love this idea!
I was so excited to see you doing a project pan again. I totally get the feeling of feeling like you have to use an item. I do a "fresh Friday" where I use new items in my collection if I've been feeling uninspired or just not in the mood to use my daily makeup.
ooh I love that idea!
I love your attitude! You said “the way I was panning wasn’t working for me anymore” rather than saying you regretted the way you did it or something negative. That’s such a great way to look at most things in life!
As much as I liked having your insights on usage.. the spreadsheets and charts.. I feel like you've come so far. ..and that's not needed for you personally... Just stay stress free 💓 enjoy your makeup 💄🌺
I love this! I think you have such a healthy attitude towards panning/makeup. After panning over the years, I find that picking products you actually want to use every day is the best way to get yourself to pan things haha. If you're always panning the oldest things, your new products are getting old and sometimes even expire while you're busy doing that. Definitely take your rest and don't put too much pressure on yourself to stick to an upload schedule following the move! Oh, and I occasionally get eczema on my eyes too, and the La Roche Posay cicaplast baume does the trick for it~
I agree!! I hate to see my newer and most loved products sit in a drawer while I solely pan older products or things I just feel so-so about. I think doing a mix of new & old products will be much better for me!
This is so true for me. I’m focusing on using up the oldest while my “best” are just aging away… it’s not the smartest haha. I have ego reeevaluate.
Eczema - Drink water, cleanse the liver, don't eat pastries and sweets . This helped me.
Love this! I always wonder if new favourites are going bad while old "meh" things get panned ;)
Great outlook, Sarah. I've always been bothered and confused by people who work on panning products they don't like. I've heard many people say that they dislike or even hate certain products but feel obligated to use it. The money is gone, and if they don't like the product, why waste time using it when you could use things you like? There's only so much time in a person's life, and I think it should be spent doing enjoyable things.
Yay, back to panning! And yes, I'm so with you on not making it feel like a chore. You've winnowed your stash down to the stuff you really love, so now's the time to enjoy using it just for its own good sake!
I love what you said about giving yourself permission to use your favorite products! I’ve really had to battle that mindset, I’m a new project panner
Yayyy! Love this kind of panning project. I’m on a break from project panning because I was dreading using the products in my project..They were all things that were older in my collection and that I didn’t enjoy using, so it always felt like work!
I’m having a blast shopping my stash and allowing myself to use any product I want.
No tracking, no pressure, no guilt, just fun! 😄
yesss makeup should never feel like work! glad you've found a way to make it more enjoyable again!
I love the concept of just picking things you love for your project!! I recently added back in an older eye liner and I forgot how much I absolutely adore it - trying to pan it and based on how much I have used already I think there is a good chance I can by the end of the year or get close. And my blush rotation has taught me that I won't pan a blush this year but I am learning that is okay since my goal is to use everything 40 times and I am slowly working through them all and loving the process. I have to remind myself its supposed to be using things up but also fun!
I’m rly glad you acknowledged ABH’s problems a little bit. Of course, we all gotta use what we have! I’m just glad to see that little disclaimer.
I want to start a project pan, being its almost the end of October, maybe I'll pick a few things that are getting low and try to finish by the end of the year.
I think this new approach is really nice, and I'm looking forward to your 2023 project. 😁
My flare up was focused in my deep crease. I used castor oil instead of an eye cream for about a week, and when it stopped itching I used a gentle exfoliating cleanser to remove the scaly skin. Finally feeling almost 💯 again. I have a long history of eczema and extra dry skin too. Hope yours is feeling better too.
Ahhh, so happy you decided to start a project pan again! These are my favorite videos of yours to watch 🥰
What I've learnt from using makeup over the years is one product can take a really really long time to finish. If we have too many products in one category and always trying to use up older stuff then we're in the forever cycle of using old products. Sometimes we've got to let the old/often expired products go, then have only what we need and think we can finish. That way we're using current products, finishing it first before buying new, then using that new product etc. Other than a Beauty RUclipsr, most of us don't ever need more than one product per category for most category. I have only one neutral eyeshadow pallete and after 3 years of constant usage, I have only hit one pan. Still trying to pan at least half the pallete but by that time it'll be long expired.
That said, I really enjoy watching project pan videos and enjoy watching your channel. Excited to see this new direction & thinking going forward!
I totally agree! My collection is small, yet I'm stuck panning old items while newer are getting old... I really don't need more than 1 or 2 in each category and am working my way there, but like you said it might just time time to toss and only keep the newest :/
@@amandasjoberg463 yes I enjoy using fresh products. I don't want to be always playing catch up. I keep products for twice as long as the recommended period, then no matter how much I've used up, I'll toss it. No point wearing old, expired stuff that has years of bacteria built up. Hygiene & my skin health is more important. Then I learn lessons from it. Hence now I don't even own a blusher. I use lipstick as cream blush because I can't finish any lipstick or blushes, ever. I really don't know how ppl finish products. I must be very light handed with my usage, lol. And after this 12-pan neutral pallete expires, no more buying 12-pan. I'll splurge on one chanel neutral quad and that's it. Just have one brand new and use it up and enjoy it.
Love this!!! 💖💖💖 I used to track everything meticulously and this year I’ve focused on having a rotating basket of stuff I’m loving and it’s helped me enjoy my makeup collection so much! Sometimes I rotate my products weekly and sometimes daily lol but it helps me use products I love without having to focus on one product at a time. Last year I hate panned an Elf HD setting powder (it kept crumbling and I had to repress it 5 different times) and I will never do that again! The stress is so not worth it!
Love your take on project panning! I have never done a project pan before but I have been more mindful about not buying so much constantly. I have loved showing my collection more love!
I LOVE your one week one palette videos
I get eczema on my eyes sometimes - I'm sensitive to pollen so my first thought was that it could be the different pollen in Seattle that your eyes aren't used to yet? - I recommend putting something very emollient on them before bed. I do vaseline to trap the moisture in and then moisturiser over the top to rehydrate them 🥰
I'm starting my very first project pan (largely inspired by you and a few other creators!) and I've chosen nine products I absolutely love and want to use, and that's how I feel like I'll actually have some success. My end-goal timeframe is by the end of the year, but I think I'm just going to go until I hit my goals and then reevaluate. (: Good luck!
I’m happy you’re doing a project pan again, I really enjoy following your progress. Thanks to you I learned makeup is supposed to be fun and relaxing
I get eczema on my eyelids too! I'm allergic to bismuth oxychloride and a few other abrasive pigments that companies use in eyeshadow. I need to be really careful to read the ingredients of things I put on my eyes. It sucks because eyeshadow is one of my favourite things to wear but once the skin starts peeling theres nothing I can wear that wont make it worse/prolong the sturggle. I'm currently just wearing mascara for the next week. I also found that rosehip oil is really nourishing and helps restore the skin barrier in that area.
Thank you for mentioning that ABH is problematic. I don’t see beauty influencers talking about this at all and all I see is them promoting the new eyeshadow palette. Nope.
I am not in the know on ABH concerns. As you feel comfortable sharing, could you share the basis of why?
So excited to follow this new project!! I get eczema flare ups on my eyes all the time. I usually use the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and really layer it on - my dermatologist recommended this moisturizer years ago and the ceramides seem to be really helpful. I also used the Glossier After Baume last winter when I had a really bad flare up and it helped so much!
i’m so excited to see how switching up your panning goes! i haven’t done an official project but there’s a few times i’ve approached it this way.
and thank you for choosing the kosas concealer as it’s a reminder for me to look into trying it again. i’ve been wanting to buy it forever but the couple shades i’m considering are always sold out. i checked and one of my local sephoras sells it in store i hope to go soon to swatch and finally try it! i need a concealer refresh SO badly 🙃
I really like how you are changing your project panning guidelines/rules as they are most helpful to you. I started a palette of the month this year. It worked out great until about May when I found that I just wanted to play with all of my palettes and not just one or two. Also, some of the ones from Jan-April I enjoyed so much that I just wanted to keep using. I appreciate the update! Glad you are settling into Seattle!
If you’re looking for an eczema cream, skinfix has an eczema line and they’re cruelty free. I’ve intermittently had eczema on my eyelids and it’s helped immensely
Any lotion with colloidal oatmeal in it works great for eczema! I get eczema mostly on my hands, but have had flare ups on my eyelids before, I don’t really know what caused it but directly applying a gentle moisturizer with colloidal oatmeal helps a lot!
I make cosmetics and can tell you that iron oxides do not smell and they especially don't smell fishy. I love the panning content, very inspiring.
I hope your eyelids get better soon. However, I love your makeup look! It looks so fresh and summery.
I watched a few of your videos and really enjoyed the 10 tips..
I put all of them in my mental rolodex...Thanks
I’m with you on using your favorite bronzer. I have been saving my favorite Marc Jacob bronzers and I have barely used them. I’m using them everyday now and they are so beautiful. They are so big I don’t know if I will ever hit pan. I haven’t even worn off the pattern yet!
Love this project pan. It will be less of a chore for you! And though I know you miss eye makeup, going without does highlight your natural beauty and fun lip. Looking forward to fun lipsticks!
Yes!! I never realized it before but I actually love the way I look with just face/lip and no eye makeup. And I might never have found that out if it weren't for the eyelid dryness, so I'm oddly thankful for it! 😅
As always, happy to see you pan what makes sense for you in ways that make sense for you; authenticity is key. LOL, I have re-purchased so many foundations, but eventually they discontinue my fave and then I have to go back to searching. I'm just about finished with my third ELF Bare Serum foundation; not sure if I'll get a fourth anytime soon, though.
For your eczema, I've found the La Roche Posay lipikar eczema cream to be great for irritations!! It has 1% colloidal oatmeal and is simple and occlusive. Sometimes. I use it all over my face to slug since it has shea butter, dimethicone, and mineral oil in it
I second this!!!
OMG!! I highly recommend mixing the Ilia and the LYS. I always get such an amazing finish
Ooh I can’t wait to try that!!
Good luck with the project!💕
May I ask, if you want to share, what happened with ABH and you're not supporting them anymore?
Love your new approach 👌 🥰
Yaay, so excited that you‘re back to panning 🤩
I totally get what you said about choosing mainly „base“ products for your project, that’s what I‘ve been considering for my next one, too. Whenever I have products like lipstick, blush,… in my project, I only tend to use that same one always because I’m so focused on my PP-products, but I’d like to have more „choice“ and play with all of my makeup. I think it would be best for me to have products in my project where I don‘t mind using the same ones until they’re finished, most of the days.. like foundation, face powder, eyebrow products,.. and then have like 1 lipstick max in my project if I really have one I‘d like to focus on.. 🤗
You can definitely finish up the elf concealer! I think I used up two since I bought it off of your recommendation 👀😅
Love the focus of this revamping project pan! Good luck 😊👏🏽
thank you!!!
Love your new approach, I am so glad I started project panning etc but it can get really stressful, and I definitely feel if I put the emphasis on the using my older things through PP my newer things - which I’ve ironically shopped for using an adjusted mindset following a long no buy period of a few years and therefore are probably better purchases all around - are sitting unused and going off whilst I concentrate on trying to get as much use as I can from a possibly already expired product. On another note, I also get eczema on my eyes and basically my doctor said it will never go away, if you have it you have it for life so it just settles and flares, and that steroid creams really aren’t recommended for the eyes (though I think they’re much stricter about that here in the U.K. than in the US!) but I’ve found the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 and the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream both really helpful for taking the eczema around my eyes down.
So excited to see you switch up your project pan!! I totally agree that the usage goals add stress! I always wondered how that didn’t stress you out 😂 also, this is brilliant to add less colored products so you can use them but still be creative with the rest of your look and add color that way!
A fresh project pan or start over is a great idea to refresh the way we use up our make up products. And using the only products you love is more focus than dividing it with other products that has less interested.
I experience that by using the same eyeshadow palette in 2 weeks in a row since I was in hurry 😅
This is definitely speaking to me lately. I am doing an epic project pan this year and it’s great but so many products get neglected in the process. I have been thinking of how I want to approach usage etc going forward.
I get eyelid eczema all the time and the skinfix eye balm always gets rid of it. I love it!
ooh I'll check it out!! thanks!
I've been wanting to try that LYS foundation but it's a "clean" makeup brand just like kosas and I'm worried it won't have a good shelf life. It takes me forever to use up foundation so it's not a good investment for me to buy something and it expires in a few months. Hopefully u can update us on the lys foundation and see if it lasts better than the kosas one.
I just got the LYS serum foundation too.I love the pressed powder and the cream blush and purchased them on your recommendation and then Christina Brooke also recommended the foundation. I am due for a new one. 🤞🏽
I too have a pretty small collection of makeup but it’s much for a regular person as I have 110 eyeshadow pans, 12 lipsticks and 8 blushes. So I have usage projects as I hate forcing myself to pan anything but I do want to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth. Maybe you should switch too that as that will ensure you are enjoying your products and still getting your money’s worth.
Good for you Sarah. Keep it stress free and fun for you.
I can’t help but laugh at Kosås’s response about that foundation. Iron oxides don’t smell fishy. Rancid oils do, though, and that’s very probably what happened to your foundation.
You did repurchase the physician's formula foundation before the ilia.. I think you even put both of them in project pans! I think you'll like the lys foundation, it's a nice formula!
Ooh yes I forgot about that one!!
i have the same problem with my eyes being itchy and dry my tip for you is cerave cream, it realy, realy makes a big different and it is pretty affordable
I get those same eczema flairs too randomly on my eyelid or my pinky fingers :( the doc just gives me a generic hydrocortisone cream and it clears it up. It's so annoying because it used to just be something I only got in the winter and now I get it in the summer too!
Love this project idea! So much fun!
I usually do a mix of favorites and just-wanna-get-rid-off products in my projects 🌈
I was able to finish up my kosas concealer in 8 months and even at the 6 month mark it was starting smell a lil off and that will always annoy me abt kosas gimme some crumbs of more preservatives girl lmao
ugh yes!! their formulas are so nice, but they just don't last :(
I’m trying shop my stash for the first time and really enjoying it although I “allow” myself to deviate from my basket when the spirit moves. As you say, makeup should be fun not anxiety provoking. May I ask why you’re not purchasing from ABH? I too try to avoid problematic brands but was not aware ABH was on the “list”.
The brand owner, Anastasia Soare, supports Putin. Many people are therefore boycotting ABH, due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
I have eczema. It flares up during the spring and summer so it might be more seasonal. It happens to me whenever the warmer seasons come
My Kosas concealer has turned on me twice. I love it, but the last one only lasted 3 months before it went bad. I have started using others just bc it is such a money waste. I love it but…
oh darn!! the amount of people who have similar stories is just wild. they're charging too much for that to happen!
How fast my Kosas concealer has turned makes me reluctant to buy more of their stuff. The smell makes me not want to put it on my face and I haven’t had it long at all.
Hi Sara...New Subscriber/Supporter to your channel...
I'm doing my 1st project pan next month and I'm excited...🥲
whats have abh done???? loved the video and the way you have structured the new project pan projects. hope your well and safe. love ya
if you google "anastasia beverly hills controversy" a lot of info will come up! But basically the CEO of ABH supports Russia/Putin so a lot of people have stopped supporting the brand for the time being.
@@SarahRoseBeauty thats what i thought it was, thats the reason im not buying from them eather. shame ppl act that way. to say it mildly. hope you are well and safe and enjoying summer and seatlle. have a great day
Also ABH joined a MLM company and collaborating with them.
@@cnp1226 omg im def not buying from them before they do better. have a great and safe day
I was wondering about the Ilia Superserum Skin Tint - does your smell bad too? I got mine today and it smells like burnt plastic :/ I am very concerened that it is a bad bottle
It does have a slightly odd scent but I wouldn't describe it as off putting! A little sweet maybe? Definitely not like burnt plastic though haha
I have never had eczema before, but I’ve been getting quite a bit of dryness and irritation around my eyes and lips since January and a few people have told me it looks like eczema. It’s been so discouraging and frustrating.
I want to start this because I hate to see makeup going spoiled without proper use, I won’t buy anything until I finish at least half of what I have
I feel like my eyelids are the complete opposite lol! My eyes are so teary and often times my eyeshadow disappears around my inner corner area because it's always wet.
🙃
Could you give yourself a gram usage goal for day like 5 blushes, highlighters and other makeup that you don't want to hit pan on please?? That would be cool to watch💗😇😎
It's good to use things you love, so you're not loathing the product. I get dry eyelids if I wear shadow every day.
What happened with ABH? 👀
I love your project pan videos. Will you continue your pan those eyeshadows project? I would love to see that but I can understand if you don’t want to. I found it can be pretty overwhelming to have too many projects going on at once.
And could you explain why you don’t want to support ABH anymore? I don’t really follow what brands are doing/saying so I often only hear about the problematic things very late. I love ABH but if they are being very problematic I don’t want to support them either. If you don’t want to talk about it to avoid giving it any more platform, I understand that.
Pan those eyeshadows is currently on hold so that I can do some 1 week 1 palettes but I hope to bring it back at some point! And if you google "anastasia beverly hills controversy" a lot of info will come up! But basically the CEO of ABH supports Russia/Putin so a lot of people have stopped supporting the brand for the time being.
@@SarahRoseBeauty Thank you very much. I love one week one palette as well so I‘m looking forward to that.
Ok, then I will hold of from purchasing from ABH as well for a while.
💚💙💜
Wait, what did I miss with ABH?
Hey Sarah, could you expand a little on why you don’t support abh anymore? I haven’t heard anything bad/scandalous about them.
Their owner was found to support Putin earlier in the Russia/Ukraine conflict 😬 among a few other controversies I believe! There’s more info online if you want to google it.
@@SarahRoseBeauty wow I had no idea! Thanks for filling me in. I’ll definitely google it.
I take RUclipsrs more seriously when they say something is good and prove it by repurchasing it
My thing is you are going to always reach for products you love. So products I am meh about seem better for panning. Obviously don't pan products you hate.
See I'm the opposite! When I try to pan "meh" products I hyperfocus on those and neglect the products I actually do like haha
