I don't agree with Temi when she says that if you were in a relationship with the person you really loved that person. This is a very problematic statement that undermines victims of abuse, people in toxic relationships, and people in relationships of convenience. It's okay to not like your ex. Signed a Mental Health Counselor
If you noticed her undertone;I believe she assumes all other things being equal, (domestic and gender based violence as well as other factors that are simply not acceptable have being put aside in her context).
If you've been following their podcasts these past few episodes I'm sure you will have a pretty good idea of what her stance would be like such a sensitive issue as domestic and gender based violence....but for the purposes of this conversation, that's a range of the spectrum of break-ups that was not assumed.
The foregoing said, this is in no way an attempt to put down or downplay the pertinent issues that gender based violence raises, they were and are still valid and we won't stop talking about them as well as the psychosocial components to fall-outs from them.

I think she was referring to relationships that ended on respectful terms in which some still talk badly about the ex to their new partner. She didn’t say you must like your ex.

@@EstherOlabisi you completely missed my point. I was arguing that it's problematic to say that if you were in a relationship you must have loved the person. This is not true. I happened to add the last part of it being ok to not like your ex, because you don't. You don't even have to be cordial with them. You can see them at an event and walk right past them.
@@rivly123 sweetheart they are a spectrum of broken relationships that I would like to think that her context wasn't referring to....especially as "having loved an ex" doesn't necessarily mean the foregone relationship was healthy.
