    I love all 4 layouts. What a great way to show the versatility of your sketches including making a two page layout from a one page sketch. The Up and Down layout design is simple but oh so effective with the multitude of arrows. Love all of them!

    This is really great. I used to feel like if I used sketches or scrap lifted someone else’s design, I was cheating my family for not coming up with the designs on my own. Not only did I learn to look at sketches differently but I immediately thought of perfect photos that I haven’t scrapped yet for 3 out of the four layouts. I feel very inspired to pull out my silhouette & get designing & cutting. Thanks so very much!!!

      Thank you, Sidney! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I used to feel the same about using sketches, that I was "cheating," so I definitely understand what you mean. My mom, the one who owns Scrapbook Generation, was the first to start making sketches in our business and I thought I would never use them. Then I tried one for the first time and I loved that the design was done for me and I didn't have to sit there for hours pushing stuff around on my layout until I found an arrangement and design I liked. I felt like using that sketch made the design part go so fast and it gave me more opportunity to play around with the fun stuff.

    I hesitate writing here because I know these are over a year old....I am so grateful there are still here. I was and still am completely lost when it comes to sketches. I love the idea but I cant work this old brain around the concept so I am hoping this will help. I signed up for your 6x6 pad class but purpose to learn this first. I love your journal strips on your pages. Any tips? I notice that they are not completely flat. You are beyond talented, THANK YOU for being so generous with your talent.

    • @allisondavis4sg944
      @allisondavis4sg944  2 года назад

      Thank you so much, Margi! What a wonderful compliment!
      I get that sketches can be a little tough at first, but the main thing that I try to tell people is that sketches are not a rule you have to follow, they are simply a starting point. You can follow them exactly if you want, or you can change things up to better fit your photos, supplies, and style.
      I always tell people that are just starting out that it might be easiest at first to follow the sketch as is. As you do that you will start to see and learn what you tend to like the most. Once you know what you like, it gets easier and easier to adapt the sketches to better fit your needs. It's just like any other technique, it takes practice and using them a lot to figure it all out. I'm here if you have questions about them!
      For journaling strips, I type them on my computer with double spacing so I have room to cut them out. Then after I print them, I cut the horizontal cuts on the left and right of the text first so you end up with a long strip of paper with your text on it. Then I do the vertical cuts above and below each line of text to cut out each strip. I with the top line and cut just above the line of text. Then I cut the top line below the text and I have my first strip. Then I just repeat for all of the remaining lines of text. I almost always adhere my journaling strips with foam adhesive so that they stand up off the page a little. I like that the dimension it adds makes my story stand out.
      I hope that's helpful!!

      @@allisondavis4sg944 That is beyond helpful. Sometimes watching someone who is so good at what they do...you think you can just jump on because they make it look so simple. I appreciate your tips and advice. Thank you so much. I am determined to learn these because many times I am stuck on a page for placemat and you have some really cool sketches.....thank you for your time......

I do have some online classes, including one that is specifically about using sketches and how to adapt them. I also have a lot of sketches too.
      The classes are all downloadable and self paced. You can find the classes here: (scroll down to see them all) scrapbookgeneration.com/downloads/classes/
      The sketches I have come in a wide variety of themes, number of photos, size of layouts, etc. All of my sketches can be found here: scrapbookgeneration.com/sg-exclusives/downloads/

    Love, love, love the layout “Say Cheese.” Now, other than the wood veneer cameras where do I start? Was this paper printed w/camera border & then you used a camera die cut or stamped the camera onto the page or both? If the paper was preprinted w/a few cameras, do you remember the mfg.? TFS these awesome layouts!
