- Full video of one of the most photogenic tornadoes of the decade in the golden orange glow of late afternoon light. An intense lightning strike hits just behind the tornado. That is one of the most dramatic, eerie and horrifyingly beautiful tornado videos I have ever watched.
I know I'm a little late to the party here but I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching your video without all the screaming and hollering. Just the sounds of nature - perfect,
GremlinsVillage well said!
Loved it, mother nature and all her power with no screaming lunatics.
Same here! Dan always creates great footage.
Many genres of video including these are not suited for background music. Moreover minimal commentary as an aid is all that is needed. Agreed.
Malcolm Abram check out pecos hank he does exactly that
Wow, the best job ever, no screaming or shaky cam
I was just thinking the same thing..a quiet tornado..so to speak. :)
Yep, him and Pecos Hank. Won't watch anyone else's vids unless they're regular, non-chasers.
*cough* reed timmer *cough*
+katie Timmer does it for the drama. He may have a PHD , but his videos are straight on drama. I’m not a fan. This is raw footage. Just tell it like it is. Love this!
Just all right speaker audio.
7:29 is one of the most angular single lighting strikes I have ever seen. Nice footage.
Isn't it🙂
That's what I came on this video for, just to see that
It literally coiled around the funnel. Alternate angles show it curling around.
Truly marvelous.
I too appreciate the lack of exclamations of "violent wedge!.... violent wedge!" The presentation in real time is great as well. This is how storm video should be seen. I understand an enthusiastic comment but the audio on many videos is just chatter and does not enhance the viewing experience at all.
The worst is when the people filming and driving are yelling at each other. Sometimes it sounds downright abusive.
@@arguchik i love the videos where the "co-pilot" tells the driver to do the opposite command (stop / go / turn) on a continual 5 to 10 second loop. i'm thinking maybe the shouting fool should drive and let the other person give the orders.
It’s so they can say it’s me!
its like a giant rotating grey carrot
Not the most charismatic way of saying it, but now that you mention it, I don’t think there could possibly be a better description.
@@danielwalmsley1824 yea but that's a beautiful EF 4 tornado
@@danielwalmsley1824 btw
I like this comment
Yeet
Magnificent! Thank you for just filming, and not talking or adding music. It is really impressive all by itself. And that sound!
Or screaming like „Violent Tornado on the ground!“ So annoying.
This is definitely my favourite tornado video, EVER. I watch it regularly. That sky made a beautiful tornado spectacular. I really can't describe how much I love this video. And the fact that the only thing you can hear is the wind. I skip through a lot of videos, but never through this one.
I'll always remember Dan as being the guy just ahead of Tim Samaras.

But that isn't what i remember most. What beautiful, uninterrupted footage! It's rare to hear the actual tornado.
The sky colors are outstandingly beautiful. Never seen them that color before
Looks to be around sunset with the sun at a low angle in the sky and right behind the clouds, shining orange through it. Very eerie but beautiful.
That's a beaut, Clark!
Also, I love the far off wailing sound of the wind
Nice Lampoons reference
I don't see anyone else around...no other noises. It seems there's an intimacy between you and the tornado that you'd have to be there to understand. Like you're sharing a secret. Beautiful. Great job!!
I love how you can see the funnel cloud starting to drop and you can see the dust along the ground start to funnel up...a true "birth" of a tornado
mesmerizing in large part because I didn't have to listen to anyone screeching "tornado on the ground" and "violent tornado" and "power flashes" over and over... much appreciated...one of the best out there...stay safe
Justa Bowler WE ARE IN THE TORNADO,WE ARE IN THE TORNADO,WE ARE IN YHE TORNADO!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing seeing a power flash even though the tornado doesn't appear to be on the ground.
Yup, just because the clouds aren't there doesn't mean the wind isn't lol
What's "incredible" is the beautiful backlighting. The tornado itself is almost sedate, meandering slowly across a field, not bothering anyone. At least in the segment shown. Maybe what's missing (thankfully) is a hysterical chaser screaming "Violent tornado! Ohmygod! I see debris! Power flash!" This one speaks for itself.
Cryptonite: Appearances can be deceiving - as the saying goes. In order for it to have been an F4 tornado it had to have done a significant amount of damage somewhere. I'm originally from Kansas. Tornados are truly awesome things.
Seems as though everyone has already said it but you literally had the best seat for this show of nature. Absolutely stunning with the light from the sun behind the tornado. It allows us a magnificent display. Thank you for sharing.
That thing grew into a handsome beast.
I'd trade the three tornadoes and one big, cone funnel I saw on May 29, 2013 around York, Nebraska, for the chance to have seen this beauty. Not even counting the gorgeous, orange backdrop amid the scene, the magnificent sight of this big, cranking, mature tornado (around 8:00) is breathtaking. Great catch, Dan.
I'll bet the people and communities in the path of this terrible storm didn't think it was beautiful, and anybody in their right mind wouldn't be doing anything but being concerned about possible deaths, injuries, and damage from it.
@@jamesbomar3903 It IS beautiful, from our perspective.
@@jamesbomar3903 if anything, the power of nature is a fantastic spectacle.
That's the thing about nature... it can be both brutal and beautiful. In the case of tornadoes, definitely both.
Beautiful capture!!
Incredible footage. Majestic and terrifying.
That is the catch of a lifetime Dan!
What a beautiful tornado, with eerie sounding wind & a nice sunset in the background. My fav video this far. Minus all the screaming & stupid music. Awesome catch 😊
This is one of the best videos even at the end you can see the downdraft when it starts weakening the tornado! Amazing!
This was an awesome vid! Thanks for allowing us to view this monstrous beauty without a bunch of jibber jabber and screaming!!!
Just curious...why was it an ef4...what damage did it cause ?...i thought tornadoes were rated by how much damage they cause...looks like it is in an rural area...not much of anything around...kool vid though...
Great lighting, perfect positioning!
Wow very beautiful orange sky and awsome lightining strike next to funnel in the pic advertisement
Amazing. Nice to see one of these videos without hyperventilating, screaming tornado chasers in the background.
Wow awesome footage just noticed it now. Never seen a tornado hit down before. Good job !!! Oh and thanks for not putting some stupid song on it.
....and not having a bunch of guys hootin' and hollerin' the whole time.
Total quietness with tornado is what I liked best about this video. Curious as to what happened to the part where it died out before returning back to it when it was gone.
The banter is needed so that other chasers have an idea where to go, otherwise it can be an exercise in futility. Turn you appliance off for the sound and enjoy, me I like the sound and appreciate their time and patience, different stokes for different folks. I would never be able to become a chaser as I don’t have the patience, I would be out there for 10 minutes and out of there, my husband could have been, he had the patience required.
I can't imagine being stuck out there with your car broken down.
I know plenty of folks in the comments have already said it but THANK YOU (again) for not screaming and hollering and allowing us to hear and watch nature in it's purest form. Amazing Video, Absolutely fascinating!!!
That was a monster of a wall cloud! Wow!
No goofy commentary, thanks.
13 days before the record-breaking el Reno tornado at 2.6 miles wide and 296 miles per hour
Best chase of my life! This was my third tornado!
this camera man... cool, calm, collect
reed timmer... aaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Extremely valuable documentation of the formation of a tornado. You can clearly see the interplay between high and low pressure, high and low temperature, and conservation of angular momentum and centripetal force. You can get an idea of what makes these things tick.
Great video capture, thanks for uploading such clear imaging!
That was awesome!! My eyes were glued to the computer screen!!
Nice job! No shouted commentary and no annoying music. Just nature at her dark moment beautifully captured on video. Keep this up!
You're not in Kansas anymore. Oh ... wait ...
Thing of beauty, elegantly skipping across the prairie..beautiful.
Excellent video. The images speak for itself, no talking neccesary
The discipline shown here is to be commended. Not a single OMG - it built the suspense just hearing the wind and other natural sound.
It doesn't get any better than this!! You got it all, including that classic yellow-orange tornadic sky - jaundice, I call it - in full vibrant color!! REMARKABLE!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Stunning tornado!
An entire decade has now passed. A classic 2010's tornado.
What a spooky sound.
I'm still amazed at the size of those things.
How a, seemingly, early summer day turns into something horrific. It is great footage and demands respect for mother nature. It is so eerie how it touches down.
My right ear enjoyed the inflow winds 😜
What a picturesque beast this tornado was.
This was the perfect tornado. Thank you for your expert work recording this. Beautiful job. And I thank you too for not going berserk with the expletives and exclamations. You are a true professional. This is the most beautiful tornado I have ever seen.
Wasn't that the tornado that sounded like a ghost.
Listen to that monster. So creepy
Tornadoes at sunset are the best
Gorgeous! This must have made your day-beautiful. You had excellent position and what a show! So rare to see video of a tornado with open sky all around. And that lightening strike...! Really enjoyed this.... 7 years later, lol.
Beautiful... this video is a work of art. Nice lightning strike behind the tornado at 7:29
Beautiful structure. Great backdrop. Let's see, no one got hurt, no major property damage..., I'd say this was a perfect storm.
Nature, you scary.
Now that's a mighty tornado.
What's weird is 2 different winds you can hear from the storm. The 1st is most audible and very similar to most tornadoes. The 2nd sounds more eerie, but sounds more like a blizzard.
He didnt even flinched or made a sound when the lightning strike. I wiuld have freaked out if i were the one filming this monster. Kudos to you!
one of the worst disasters of nature, but at the same time is amazing *_*
It's like it has a mind.
Amazing!
Absolutely amazing footage. What a thing of beauty. It almost looks fake.
7:29 What a shot.
That tornado with that orange sky .. makes it look AMAZING looking
Tornadoes form slow I guess so you have a chance to get to your car and
*GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!*
I love twisters look at the motion with this one nice!
Listening to that distant wind, it's eerie..
Awesome.... No Hollering and Panic Attacks Wow!!! Thanks
Always loved your videos! Thanks and keep safe, brother!
4:30 is crazy
Looks like hell forming on earth
breathtaking
This is the creepiest thing I've ever heard
That’s really big and awesome
That Tornado just disappeared in less than a second. One minute it's there, then POOF it's gone all you see are clouds. Great camera work, you must film events after it happens.
What a prize catch that is. A big and hearty congrats to you!
Gorgeous cone.... Beautiful video too.
Mesmerizing , probably the best video out there .
Excellent specimen.
Tornados fascinate me. There is a dichotomous relationship between beauty and terror, between destruction and power.
... And - between running for your life,... and then all of a sudden a bright light appeared. ...
dude what a tornado that large already on development
Total silence from the person recording - letting us watching almost be there. That's awesome...5 twisters for you 🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️
I watched this while listening to Silversun Pickup's song Catch and Release. The effect was oddly sublime.
When it boils down to it, Tornadoes are just bros who want to chill for a little bit. Give them their space and their respect and you'll be fine.
Wow! That’s incredible.
So much flashes of lightning
Any ideas on the strength of this one? Fantastic capture, btw!
Wow that build up is incredible
What a gorgeous tornado
great footage
You know, this can actually be some good ASMR now that you just listen to the wind.
Just breath taking..thanks for sharing this amazing video
In the 1st few minutes you can barely see the hills on the horizon, looks like thats 6 miles away. At 3mi 50sec looks like that funnel cloud was heading straight for ya, glad it didnt, and glad that 1st house survived
