- Wow, what a great safety razor today, we have a Muhle R41 double edge razor to perform my first head shave with this set up. Using a feather blade in the most sought after Muhle R41, known as the sharpest safety razor out there with one of the sharpest blades. This feather blade has three shaves on it so it should be perfect for today.

Wow. Very impressive
My preferred scalp shaver is my vintage Pomco Chicago slant (made by Merkur for Otto Pomper’s Cutlery per Badger and Blades forum). Looks identical to a Merkur 37C.
I typically use a Feather blade, but lately I’ve been using a variety of blades from a sample pack off of Amazon. Feather is still the reigning king of blades for me. Voskhod is a close second.
I shave front to back on side one, then bring it back to front on side two - working right ear to center, then left ear to center. Only then do I go with an up stroke from the ear for my across the grain pass. A BBS every single time. In the six years or so since this passed on to me, I’ve nicked my scalp less than a handful of times. Usually when I’m trying to get more shaves from an old blade than I should; so lesson learned, change the blade.

I literally just shaved with this, after using a Mamba 70 for a month, first time using R41 gs, and I cut myself pretty deep at the back of the head, Its a very sharp cut, props to you for shaving with this and no cuts

Great razor, I have to take it very slow like you do. The R41 truly is a beast. If you want a super smooth shave with little blade feel try the Merkur 37c. It will give you a very close shave but a VERY smooth irritation free shave. The merkur 37c slant is excellent. I bet you'd love it.
It was a really good shave for me. My head didn't hurt it all after shaving with the R41. I haven't tried a slant yet
That’s so cool. I’m a lot like you. Sensitive Skin Head/face shaver. I’ve been thinking about making the jump to light speed and getting an R41 for years. Especially for my head. Also lol I saw in another video where you mention being Ambidextrous. I shoot pool left handed too even tho I’m a righty. I can box or shoot both as well. Great video. Keep on keepin on.

This is by far my favorite head shaver. Never managed to cut myself with this one where it did happen with other razors. It frightens people because of the blade feel (and reputation), which I think is due to the blade exposure. But my feeling is that a large blade gap is much more unforgiving than blade exposure. Couldn"t find the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the R41 has a "small" blade gap and a positive blade exposure

Hi good afternoon this is my first time seeing youre videos and a safety razor beguinner. I bought the Gillette king c safety razor and the merkur 34c. But really i have to pass 3 times and still feel some hair. I love shaving bald head and face. Im about to receive the leaf razor. I also have like a little sensitive skin. What do you think about thouse three razors. And whats youre best head and face razor. Godbless you always and your family. I really starting to like wet shaving. And i also like the videos you have
It’s all about technique and different razors on your face. Getting the correct angle on the razor is very important to remove growth. All three of those are very good razors. I have a video where I talk about riding the guard/bar on the razor to achieve a closer shave. In my experience the more aggressive the razor is the less important it is to get a correct angle. I have heard the Gillette King is a more aggressive raiser than the 34C. With that being said I can achieve a BBS shave with the 34c in two passes with a Gillette silver blue blade. If I were you I would get a variety pack of blades and experiment with them all. You will find out that different blades are better for your face and skin than someone else’s.

While I will never shave my own head (+ with a Feather blade: yikes!), I do prefer a longer handled razor for my face. You did well tho: kudos!!

I used a bowl. My hair was kind of long so it was hard to lather up soap on my head. Good call. It was very dry. I probably should not used a bowl. What do you think?
