  • TEACHER DEMO
    This inspirational song was released in 2003 on Josh Groban's album "Closer" and has been very popular ever since, being recorded by more than 100 musical artists. The words and music were composed by Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland the "Secret Garden" duo who first performed it in 2002 with the lead singer Brian Kennedy.
    Please comment below if you know who composed this particular piano arrangement that I discovered at MusicNotes.com, I would love to give them credit for their talented work. My only deviation from the arrangement was that I added a low Gb 8va at the very end to finish it off. --Norma

    When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary
    When troubles come, and my heart burdened be
    Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
    Until you come and sit awhile with me
    You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
    You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
    I am strong when I am on your shoulders
    You raise me up to more than I can be
    You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
    You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
    I am strong when I am on your shoulders
    You raise me up to more than I can be
    You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
    You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
    I am strong when I am on your shoulders
    You raise me up to more than I can be
    You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
    You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
    I am strong when I am on your shoulders

    Jesus came into the world not to condemn it but to save it. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Jesus is the Reason for the Season. It's not about Religion. It's about a relationship with Jesus Christ. On Judgment Day, ALL knees will bow and all tongues will confess that Jesus is Lord. Praise the Lord. Thank you Jesus. Emanuel. HALLELUJAH to the Lamb of God.

      by the way I am currently on farewell to thee; it feels like the book has gotten a lot harder suddenly because of the inverted triads and also I am thinking of finding a teacher soon.

    • @92pianokeys40
      @92pianokeys40  8 лет назад

      Inverted triads are a challenge and take quite a while before they feel comfortable. You just have to keep working on them and be patient with the learning process. Eventually they become very routine and natural to play. The correct fingering on those is very important in order to create the proper muscle memory since we use the same fingering pattern for a whole host of chords.
      A teacher will be able to assess your personal strengths and weaknesses and aid you in honing your musical skills. And feel free to try a few teachers until you find one that suits you best. It is very reasonable to do some "trial lessons". The teacher/student relationship is an important one and should create an environment of encouragement and forward progress. You should be able to look forward to your piano lessons and the opportunity to learn new things. Let me know how it goes, NM.

      Thank you!! Key signatures....it starts with 3 flats, then 1 flat, then 6 flats. So, what are the names of those key signatures and are they major or minor in this song? (A hint for you: my final left hand octave will help you out with the final key signature.) And a big thank you for listening and commenting! NM

    I am literally crying right now. This made me cry. You actually made me cry. That was so beautiful! I love it! This song is really sad to me because it reminds me of one grandparents mama who I love so much passed away in Feb 2020. I’m Sorry, I have to say that but, I know this video was posted 6 years ago but you played so beautifully. You play the piano really beautifully and really good. I subscribe to your RUclips channel. I hope you post more videos.

    Would someone who finished Alfred's All in One Level 3 be able to play this? Or would it be a stretch to say that? Thank you for your time!
    P.S. I have not even finished Level 1, I'm just curious.

    • @92pianokeys40
      @92pianokeys40  6 лет назад +1

      If they had played the more challenging songs in the Level 3 book very well, such as Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, Toccata in Dm, then possibly yes. The patterns in this song are quite different from those songs with the fast moving left hand octaves and lots of 4 note octave chords in the right hand but if they were very proficient at the Toccata in Dm then that would mean that they had developed good technical skill and should be capable of this as well. It's just that most students in the Alfred's Level 3 book wouldn't have played lots of these types of patterns yet. --Norma

      Yes, you could certainly "fancy-up" the left hand. I simply did this recording as more of a demo of this particular arrangement from musicnotes.com. for piano students who are at this level. There is always room for adding your own touches and personalizing a song. --Norma
